Javier Bardem played one of the most compelling Anti-Hero/Villian characters in cinema history in No Country For Old Men. He gave a riveting performance that was right there with Daniel Day-Lewis' performance in There Will Be Blood. Ironically, both films came out the same year. I would put Javier's performance up there with legendary performances in some classic movies like Humphrey Bogart in John Huston's The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre (1948), John Wayne in John Ford's The Searchers (1956), Henry Fonda in Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In The West (1968), and Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976). Some 21st Century performances that are also great is Denzel Washington in Antoine Fuqua's Training Day and Tom Cruise in Michael Mann's Collateral.

@@juanify9707i think the reason why he said anti-hero/villian is because Anton is such an odd character and hes hard to label Yeah he does alot of bad things and hes certainly the antagonist of the film, the confusion lies in his character. Hes so emotionless that some cant call a villian because he has no goal, hes got nothing that defines him as a man, hes more of a ghost than a person by how he acts and what he does Most villians have a personality, they have a goal and alot of villians can actually be relatable or sympathetic Anton has non of those qualitys, hes simply an alien that has no emotions inside him. Usually villians enjoy the suffering they cause, but Anton doesnt even seem to enjoy the killing he does, to him its like an everyday thing which is why some are confused when trying to put him in a category You can say hes evil, but some would argue that hes so disconnected with basic human emotions that calling him evil would be misinterpreting his character. Hes more of a husk than any type of living person.
Wonderful to see Josh Brolin's genuine reaction of delight. Bitter enemies on screen; best buddies in real life.
