Oscar never had to get warmed up -he just LAUNCHED
This fantastic concert shows the OP-Trio at it,s Olympic Top. Of this particular Trio with Sam Jones and the explosive Bobby Durham there is little filmed naterial, and it shuld be noted that his trio existed only 30 months, July 1967-January 1970. Here we see the Trio during the famous MPS-period, and towards the end of it,s last extensive European Tour, that started in England 19 September 1969 and went on to November 18 in the Salle Pleyel in Paris, covering all of Europe and Scandinavia, also with Dexter Gordon in Copenhagen! Only a few days before this Rome concert the Trio was in Villingen Germany to record the MPS-album "Hello Herbie" with guitarist Herb Ellis, recorded 5&6 november 1969. And only two days after Rome the Trio played the "Theatro Lirico" in Milano, recorded on the Italian Oxford label. For all this recordings we should be thankfull to these 3 Giants of Jazz! You will find ample proof of that also in this splendid and unforgettable Rome appearance! Enjoy this great Music! Jan van Schellen Dropvat, aka pianist Johnny Dropvat, Amsterdam

I was just about to mention the album "Hello Herbie". My favorite of all Oscar's recordings probably. I got it on vinyl.
OP, the last of the 3-fisted (ha) piano players. He always had the bassist right over his left arm, probably to key him into his rapid changes. This airing shows Peterson relying on his classical chops, especially on Bernstein's Somewhere. A young, invigorated Oscar. Brilliant!
The One & Only!!!!!!!
That’s how it’s done, folks. Pure and simple! The energy is astonishing. G’day & Cheers!
The great Canadian talent, muscian, pianist....rip op
My goodness😮! What can one say?! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for posting these beautiful films! Truly adored
Легендарное выступление великолепных музыкантов!
He plays "The Shadow of Your Smile" as part of "Somewhere"
Can you imagine. Oscar Peterson didn't play for a month after he heard Art Tatum!
very very good!!👍🙂
Thank you.

Ohhh YEAH 👍😁
