Oscar Peterson - In the Key of Oscar [FULL ALBUM]
Музыка
Oscar Peterson on the Synclavier! A very special record - half is the Oscar Peterson Quartet in top form, performing at the Bermuda Onion in Toronto, and the other half is the first known record of Oscar Peterson's work on the Synclavier!

The second half with all of the synthetizer's makes me think Oscar would've had a great carrer composing tracks for videogames, specially RPGs :P
I love how he doesn’t make the synths try to sound like the instruments they are imitating, instead he fully expresses the unique aspects of them making them feel like a whole new thing.

I think Oscar, already a master in his own instrument, saw the infinite possibilities laid out before him with the Synclavier and embraced them wholeheartedly. I'm so glad I managed to track down this recording from a footnote of a footnote - his creative vision is so crystal clear here.

Awesome page. I love it, keep it up
simply.. the best instrumentalist, I’ve ever heard… in my life
wonderful rendering of any. Thing. goes which I had first herd on the first wonderful record chris Connor Did on Atlantic more experimental then her Bethlehem dates Arts bites ,keeplig lovely flowering feelings The disc continues. We hear piece with electronic voice Then a starting group of songs are heard . I’ve never heard this orchestral Oscar. Overt I thought fir a second that a jazz band had been hired lead by .dizzy Kenton with hints of the man with Golden Arm This is followed by gorgeous string voicing whike Oscar s hand gets a guitar sound If I recall the bridge has more conventional features and then the syn. Strings return So sedate. So subtle This is followed by. Per hive piece full of jeer .with children attending a workshop t Middletown Connecticut. Ned. Say I’m storyboar I g Ensembles joyfully mixing Asian ,Latin rhythms. Later we move to Oscar noir with sprite dissonant splashes . At this point I sense pieces overlap ,but there is gem where the organ sound enters and some coming music at the end It took me back to when I had.one lesson w Oscar at Linx and three more at Atlantic .records. Made possible by nesuhi ,and Tom Dowd Oscar calked me an orchestrAl pianist .there was no way I coukd produce velocity ,much less even heard it . So many memories have come back from 57,58. Oscar was so generous .this may not have been too late in the Peterson career because Ray was in date

Thank you for reaching out; I overlooked this comment among the flood I get through all my videos. Moments like these are why I put up the music that I do - both to connect new listeners to fascinating pieces that they would never look at otherwise, and to rekindle the memories of those who worked on the record or played with the artists therein. I'm glad this has brought back memories of Oscar, and shown you once again the joy and care of his music - fully his, composed within the expansive world that the Synclavier gave to him, where he could be the whole band at once if he so wished.
I am a huge fan of Oscar's work, and this record is new for me, cool stuff, thanks.
Why does this remind of Leisure suit Larry lol
This Master is out of this world but also close to it.
I was supposed to goto this show with my dad, I don’t remember what happened, we didn’t make it. 😢

J.G.P has to be a tribute to jacp.
OP had a bad stroke in the early 1990s.
This hasn't aged well...
