I may not be deaf but I’m neurologically challenged, and my father always said to me “This does not define who you are.” But to the show-runner’s point, cultural awareness is genuinely important.

This interpreter should win an award with keeping up with Kelly! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Well done The Kelly Clarkson Show for using interpreters properly, showing the signing all the way through, not just cutting to the 'best shot'!

As a CODA this movie was so relatable... it amazing just to see Deaf actors and a movie about Deaf people as it is, but I never thought I would see a movie about people like me. 😭 Everyone did a fantastic job and I love it so much. Deserving of all the awards!! CONGRATULATIONS!! 🙌🤟🥲🤟

Troy’s speech at the Oscars made me cry. CODA is a INCREDIBLE movie!!!

This interview is so beautifully done. The format shows so much respect and Kelly was such a kind and generous host.

I’m disappointed that Emilia wasn’t nominated for an Oscar… but thrilled that the movie won best picture!

For me, I was surprised that Daniel Durant was not nominated for best supporting actor. His performance really touched me. But hopefully we will see him in many more films in the future!

I knew Marley and Daniel from Switched at Birth! I love this! The deaf community needs more recognition

yeah i definitely remember them from that show as well like i am hard of hearing and this makes me feel happier inside and outside when these movie's and shows do this for the deaf community

Really? You should go back to the 80s where Marlee made her feature acting debut with Children of a Lesser God that earned her an Oscar win, the first deaf actor to win an Oscar

Amazing interview! Thank you so much to the camera people and editors. You never cut away from the Deaf people when they were signing or zoomed in so far we couldn't see their full signs. The interpreters who were voicing and Kelly's interpreter did awesome as well. Closed captions too. This is what FULL ACCESS looks like! I can't wait to see the movie tomorrow, in the theater!!!

I am completely obsessed with this movie and the entire cast. I want to see more from these actors! Like for real, when is their next movie!!

I grew up with my parents signing at church, and it's incredible to see the deaf community being brought forward.

I know this isn't the full interview, so did Kelly's ASL music video "I Dare You To Love" get mentioned? That brought a lot of awareness to the deaf community as well - plus it is an amazing video!!

Just clicked on this movie randomly one night, had no idea what it was about. And wow! I loved it, I cried, it was beautiful! The accolades are well deserved.

I did the same thing as you. I watched it on the first release day. I was more curious as to what CODA meant. So I had to watch it.

Loved the fog horn story An air b&b should definitely label the light switch that controls the fog horn so nobody accidentally turns it not

Can we take a min to applaud how Emillia did such a good job in this show while juggling a levels at the same time. It is def not easy!

Can't believe that movie was over 30 years ago. Marlee Matlin looks so good and doesn't look like she's aged a day!

I'M SO IMPRESSED that they made sure that all the signing people were on the screen even when the camera cut away to someone else!! That never happens but should be the way it always happens! EDIT: After I posted this comment, I came across an earlier interview of just Marlee on this show, and that is the absolute worst I have ever seen it done. They kept putting the interpreter on the camera instead of Marlee, sometimes even just Marlee's back. I'm pretty sure the Deaf community had some strongly worded responses, and perhaps instruction. This episode right here, is this show's redemption arc for how to keep sign language on the screen. Especially the actual signers who are the ones being interviewed!!!

The interpreter in the corner! Yes! And captions! Every other talk show needs to learn this.

I just feel the world would be a better place if we could sympathise and make SL a subject on school and a language that people learn, at least the basics, cause we never take a sec to think they have to adapt to us why not do the opposite 🤟🏽🥰

I came to the interview after watching the trailer. I definitely need to see this movie. This interview in itself should be nominated for an award - Really well done and very informative.

I'm severely deaf and I don't know sign language my mum wouldn't let me go to a deaf school, I have hearing aids which helps but I wish i could sign. I loved the movie

I’m so glad people’s are really recognizing people who are deaf in our countries. I can relate to that because I am deaf and wearing hearing aids all my life I’m so happy to see this about people who are deaf . ❤️

@@tushar090786 The two films do have a fairly similar story, but it's actually just a coincidence, and wasn't inspired by Khamoshi: The Musical. It was however, loosely based on a French film called La Famille Belier, which is why it won Best Adapted Screenplay, not Best Original Screenplay.

And coda actually won best picture!

What should be recognised here is that the original story is a well know movie in France named “la famille Belier” that had great success in 2014. The only difference is that in the original movie most of the actors weren’t actually deaf

This should be nominated for some kind of inclusion category award in show biz. Great job Kelly and the rest of the crew!

I've loved Marley for decades. I don't know any of the others. Definitely gonna have to watch CODA now. Mr Holland's opus is a wonderful movie too thar introduced the deaf community and hearing people.. beautiful movie. Definitely recommend that

WOW! Amazing sign language interpreters, as well!

Most people keep forgetting that Coda is just an adaptation of the French movie "La Famille Bélier" which is even more heart- warming. The original song "Je vole" is of extreme beauty and tells her parents in sign language that she has to leave to make up her own life. Coda is very well done, the original version is even better.

I truly admire all of the cast members of this production and this movie. I truly do. But this is a remake of a French movie called La Famille Belier, it’s a fantastic movie!! So watch the french version first!

If i can vote, i want CODA to win best picture this year. It reminds me of 80-90s films. So real and so simple yet so beautiful. The message is clear. Inclusion matters in fiction and real life.
