Samik Pal That’s not ideal for two.
My mom used to have an Oscar, and every time my dad would walk in the room he would play dead and sink to the bottom of the tank. When he left the Oscar was just fine. It just really didn’t like my dad.

If you have 2 Oscar's you want about 125 gallons to house them properly. But you could probly get a way with a 75 with no decor other then sand or rocks. if you can't find anything else.

Remember the song "Ebony and Ivory"? I'm singing it in my head right now. LOL. Anyway... my Oscars, Ricky and Lucy, started out in a 10 gallon, then moved to a 20 gallon long, then to a 50 gallon, and finally to their forever home - a 120 gallon. No tank mates at the moment, but I am thinking of adding my larger species pleco or my senigal bichars when they get bigger. Not sure if that will work or not.

I'm absolutely in love with this channel. I just got a baby oscar. Less then 1in. Currently in a 50gal tank. I do have a 160gal tank which he will be in once he grows a bit. Question. Can you send me a video on your feeding habits and foods and tank cleaning routine. Ty
My Oscar is also named Felix, I've had him for 4 years now. He's been in a 55 gallon the whole time. He's doing well, his tank mates are a red devil, I think is a female and a jack Dempsey, Felix is the biggest at 10"and they seem to get along well with each other. I'm looking to upgrade to a 75 soon.

I'm thinking about getting an Oscar when the smaller fish in my Aquarium dies, I have a 75 gallon tank but could transfer him to a 100 gallon if I ever want to get two of them. My dad used to have one, and he was very social and funny. Might get one this weekend.
Ebony and Ivory are Gun names of Devil may cry series protagonist Dante. Awesome video btw
I just got a 150 gal that's only 4 feet long and 2 feet wide front to back. Would you think 2 Oscars should be good in there?
I have the same two fish. I name them Cheech and Chong .
Great vid and timely for me. Consider Jetsam and Flotsam.
I got 2 albinos oscar de la hoya and swim shady. They share a tank with a common pleco named Charlie daniels.
Hi, I bought an Oscar which is amazing, and introduced him to my 2 other oscars which are smaller, but he is quite a bully, would he calm down and integrate?

Hi! My Oscar is acting weird. It was swimming faster inside the tank just round and round aggressively and now the lips has a cut. Why do you think it was acting like that?

How often do you do water changes on your 75 gallon Oscar tank and how big?

Do you think they will be ok with red jewel cichlids? I might inherit two that are 5 inches They said. I have a 55 with a few red jewels. I want to get a 125 but not soon.

4 жыл бұрын
@Joshua Page two 3 inch oscars in one 75 gallon and they still fight. I will be moving one to another 75 gallon once they grow larger, but would have liked them to coexist in the meantime
Out of curiosity does the “inch per gallon” rule not apply for Oscars? reason I ask is I have a 125 gallon and with the inch per gallon rule I could put 8 assuming they grew to 15” each? I have 6 in there now but they are still young
@TazawaTanks
2 жыл бұрын
The inch per gallon rule is actually bad advice given by many chain pet stores. For some fish it can work. For example, ten 1” tetras in a 10 gallon aquarium could possibly work (proper filtration, plants, etc.). However, you cannot put a 10” Oscar in a 10 gallon tank, or 8 of them in a 125 as you are suggesting. In fact, when yours grow larger, 6 will be 3-4 too many in your 125. You may have to give away or sell some of them, or get a second tank for the others.

@@TazawaTanks thank you for the quick reply!! So if I went up a little bit more to a 150gal how many oscars would you recommend?
@TazawaTanks
2 жыл бұрын
@@EverythingAvron still only around 3, because it’s the same length and width, just taller. It really depends on the fish behavior more than the water quality issue. If they become aggressive, you could have issues. A 180 is 72x24 (length width), so you may be able to have 4 or so. A 240 is 8’ long, so you may be able to have all of them if they don’t fight. Doubtful though. It can be done, just not easily.
@EverythingAvron

@@TazawaTanks thanks again for the advice. Will take into consideration! Maybe when they get bigger I’ll get my big big tank!
Not looking for a fight but I have seen a Oscar kept pretty well in a 40 gallon breeder vs a 50/55 gallon aquarium. The 40 having over filtration and minimal decor for extra swimming space. Maintained with spot cleans and multiple weekly water changes to keep water parameters at acceptable levels. The 40 gallon breeder’s width is 18 inches vs some 50/55 gallons being way too narrow with around 12-14 inches in width. Personally being in the hobby for years now, I would say a 60 gallon breeder is the smallest you should go based off of width/turnaround space for your Oscar and bioload not a 50/55.
@TazawaTanks
Жыл бұрын
I’ve kept Oscars in 40s before. The issue that I’ve had was when they became full grown (10+ inches). While it can work, it’s a bit cramped. That’s why I always recommend 75 and up. This offers the 18” front-to-back space that you mentioned. Thanks for sharing…nothing to fight about. 🙂

When I got mine I was so excited when I raised it they was about that big at yours at the start of your video I had a tiger Oscar and a albino tiger Oscar they was always swimming together the albino one was the smaller runt so one day I’m looking at my fish tank and then the tiger Oscar just bites a hole in the albino Oscar and it dies
Please help me understand, i have a 3.5ftx1.5ftx1.5ft tank how many oscars can i school in it
If my oscar grow 12 inches I would buy it a big tank and many decors
I have a oscar around 3-4 inch. I’m getting a arowana and he’s about 5-6 inches, the thing is my oscar isn’t really friendly with other oscar So i’m pretty scared if I should add my arowana in?
@xIliveyourdreamx
4 жыл бұрын
If you already have 2 Oscars that dont much get along, I would not introduce any new fish. This could stress them out even further and spike their aggression. If you DO try it, have a back up home and option for the Arowana. Hopefully, you are working with something at least 125g?
In your opinion how much filtration should you have for 1 Oscar in a 75 gallon and how often should water changes be done?
@TazawaTanks
6 ай бұрын
I’m my opinion, it can be as simple as a larger sponge filter or a medium sized hang-on-back for a single Oscar in a 75. I’d probably do a partial water change every 10-12 days on average, depending on the water parameters.
Is a 60-75 good for one oscar^_^
Can I keep 1 or 2 in a 20 gallon tank for like 2-3 months until I can get a bigger tank?
