The ending was PERFECT!!! The only person who had a heart for him was the child. Its really sad because times are not that different now for people of color. Recently a man from Pakistan started chatting with me in a coffee shop. We just spoke about the terrible shape the world is in. Somewhere along the conversation shifted to racism. He shared when he came to America mostly white people would tell them not to trust Black people. He said for sometime he would look at Black people as if they were nothing. Until one day there was a fire in his home, while he and his family were asleep. A neighbor (Black man) was leaving for work at 4:30am and saw the smoke. That morning that Black man saved he and his entire family. Their home was so damaged they couldn't stay there and had no other family family and very little money. The Black man and his family came over bringing them blankets to put around them as they watched their home burn. The Black man and his wife stayed with them till the end and overheard them telling the police they had nowhere to go, just then the Black man & his wife offered their basement apartment, 3 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom - rent free. He said that was the day he earned another brother and the day he closed his ears to what people of different complexions and statuses say about others. What a world we live in... God Bless

The worst part for me, it was boiling my blood and yet I doubt I would say anything to her as a bystander, because I am not confrontational with people, especially with strangers.

The guy with helmet in a suit reminds me of a young Peter Sellers. At least a little. Love the B&W film about…black and white!

I am sorry that the sweet kid had to see the ugliness of the older woman and I am sad the black man had to go through it too but I loved the film it seems timeless it was filmed in the 90s but it still is important in 2021 and just as good

I think the description "Schwarzfahrer" used by the German transport cooperations to mean "a passenger traveling without a valid ticket" needs to be changed... As it may be strangely translated as "black passenger", thereby stereotyping a particular race. If we want to make a change we can start from there.

Actually "Schwarzfahrer" is not the word that is officially used by the authorities. It's just a word that everyone knows and understands. There is also the word "Schwarzarbeiter" (black worker), meaning someone who does jobs without paying taxes, etc. Then there is "Schwarzmaler" (blackpainter) - a pessimist. No idea where that comes from.

you're interpreting it one from your perspective with your cultural identity, and two not from the artistic and literary viewpoint it has which brings a great philosophical message by it's presence and also a tickle from the double entendre it plays out to be with the three significant characters. As the title, means both "black traveler" and "traveler without fare/ticket". Hopefully this will help you understand after I explain. Schwarzfahrer means both "fare dodger" and "black traveler." So the black character was a Schwarzfahrer in the sense that he was a black traveler, the woman in that she became a fare dodger in the end by consequence, and the motorcyclist was a true fare dodger.

He is the one without a ticket. His motorbike did not work and he jumped on, no ticket. He says "of course, bad day" when the ticket controller gets in the bus.

@@2009caci You're right. I did some reading on it later and it said how all three characters were Schwarzfahrer now. Schwarzfahrer means both "fare dodger" and "black traveler." So the black character was a Schwarzfahrer in the sense that he was a black traveler, the woman in that she became a fare dodger in the end by consequence, and the motorcyclist was a true fare dodger.

The motorcyclist has done an unlawful act without the actual intent. So there is a reprieve by fate. The woman apparently has not done anything legally unlawful but was morally tarnished and gets punished by fate.

I love the sentiment of what you said. I only disagree with the concept of "get along". Sadly, we Black people have to "get along" in order to survive. Doesn't mean we don't find some Amazing white friends along our life's journey. But by and large, it's out of obligation that we are friendly, and not because we are in a good mood or are just "naturally" that way. We have to live just like everyone else.

Hello. I know this is an odd place to put this comment, but hear me out. I just wanted to ask you people for help because I know that the people who comment under this video are nice people because you are against racism. And also I chose this beautiful video because I know that there are anti-racists on my side in this comment section who can help me out with this situation. I complimented the looks of this white woman (who was a policewoman...but that's irrelevant, because I would have found her attractive regardless of her job)...and yes I went a bit too far in the way I complimented her, but still I was just being nice. So this policewoman was in the video and I was saying that I thought she looked attractive. I don't think it's a big deal, I do it often to women who I think look attractive...lots of people make compliments about people's looks in public life and on videos...it's no big deal. Anyway, there is another KZread commenter called 'anti-ethniccleansing' or something like that (you can tell that this person obviously has a racist agenda...this person is against interracial dating/marriage and interracial sex and he/she wants white people to stick to marrying white people because he/she thinks it is bad if non-white people have sexual relations with white people) went right inside one of my KZread videos that I made (a video about Fire-Type Pokemon) and he/she was complaining about me complimenting the looks of this white female police officer and he/she was implying that white people should stick to having sexual relations with only white people and stuff...he/she is giving off clear racist vibes. Look, I know that I went a bit too far in the way I complimented the white police officer...I said that she is a beautiful blonde, has nice blue eyes, nice shape in her face blablabla but lots of people compliment the looks of other people all the time...yes, I did go over the top in complimenting her looks, but I clearly did not do anything wrong. Also, I obviously would never be able to marry this white female police officer because she lives in a different country and it is likely that we will never meet...I am realistic of course. So anyway, to all of you anti-racists out there, please reply to the comments made by this racist KZread user called 'anti-ethniccleansing' or something...reply in my Fire-Type Pokemon video that I created and call him/her out on his/her racism and stand up for me. Anyway, thank you. Also, I find women of all ethnicities attractive e.g. East Asian women, white women, black women, South East Asian women...I just compliment on looks.
