Another song with those vibes is Staring at the Sun by TV on the Radio. It's really a brilliant way to structure a song, all build, no release.
This town might be big enough for the both of us
I adore the minimalist arrangement of this version. It's completely driven by his voice and emotions. The music just creates textures to accent his voice.
This performance is nothing less than transcendent.
What sticks out the most is the pure emotion and raw energy. Orville isn’t giving us a song. He’s giving us a whole damn experience. This isn’t just music. This is art.

Change ONE word, and its a song about a trans woman. Absolutely fucking fantastic. "To thine ownself be true."
Not being a country music fan, except for Orville, lol, I had no idea this was a cover. So I went and watched that video. It’s amazing that he only changed one word, yet it fit perfectly. This version is definitely darker and I love it.
Its so powerful to hear a man sing these lyrics....WOW!
This song is the perfect gilded frame for one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

Kudos for taking on a song that artists shy away from because of the shear amount of words. Then the trans spin. Then the notes you choose to hold that even Reba didn't.. Then the slight Jack White vibe at the end. I mean, I can hardly contain myself. So, so good.

Reba is a special person. She released a compilation album of remixes for Pride Month with a rainbow on the cover. I"m proud to be from Oklahoma and to have went to the same college as that lady with teh beautiful heart.

My god what a simmering and wicked sounding interpretation of this song. The slowed down pace really lets the lyrics stick to you; I’m in love with this version thank you Mr. Peck for thinking to cover it and for recontextualizing the original by giving it a trans twist just with one word in one lyric……. “to thine ownself be true” will never sound the same now
so i absolutely love the original song and its so dark and haunting to me but man this version put it in a new lens and its quite amazing. this is art dude

It’s so reliant on his tone and voice. And it just creates this sound and energy that can’t be explained with words
I'm late to finding out you did this cover somehow- this was one of my favorite songs growing up, and this cover is so amazing. I've been listening to it on loop for over an hour. I sort of left country behind and gave up on it in the mid nineties, and these days I'm still more of a rock & roll girl, but you are bringing back everything I loved about country in the 80's as a kid and are then building beautiful things on top of it. Oh man. Reba is one of my favorite country singers and Fancy (I know Reba covered it but her version) is one of my favorite songs of all time. This version hit my heart HARD. I’m a trans man and though this may be more geared towards describing a trans woman I identify with this just the same. Dude I haven’t legit cried in years but this had me sobbing. This is an amazing version of the song and now a favorite! Thank you so much!

Reba might do it. She is notably Pro LGBTQ. She released a compilation album with Remixes for Pride Month with a rainbow on the cover. I'm a proud fellow Oklahoman and even prouder to have gone to the same college. She is a beautiful hearted Christian.

I don’t think it’s an explicit nod to Vanjie, but actually to Reba’s music video of Fancy where the ghost/memory of her mom calls out to her the exact same way Peck sings it here. But it’d be fun it if there was a Vanjie nod lol
