As you may be able to tell, there is no discount coupon in the description of the video. I am sorry to say that this was now not possible due to some past error with coupons for this machine. However I did leave a link to gearbest where this laser is on sale for only $250 which is the BEST deal for the 20W version. Again I’m sorry there is no discount but definitely check out that other link:)

Thanks! Just ordered one. I had been on the fence, looking and weighing options. Once it shows up I'll build a box for it with an exhaust fan as I'll be using it inside. I used to work for a die shop where we had several lasers that cut 5/8" Baltic birch plywood and 1/8" steel plate. I would love to have something like that for making stuff but cost is always an issue. Thought about one of those 50watt CO2 lasers and doing some custom travel mug/water bottle engraving for local school's sports teams that they could maybe use as a fundraiser but I think I'll have to show my wife that I can do something with something small and less expensive first. Plus, you know, the Chinese flu. Your review pushed me over the edge because it will cut a good size and looks like it will do a good job for what I have planed. I would like to build a model of the Enterprise bridge from the original series. I've been working on 3D printing pieces but it takes so long to print the parts. Thanks again!!

@@TimberWood.Customs Thought I'd share an update. I ordered from Gearbest to save $30. 15 days later it's still hasn't shipped. Says shipping should take 3-8 days. Looks like China is having problems getting stuff out. I haven't had problems with them before but I'm thinking that I'm going to recommend Amazon until things settle down. I had also ordered something for my wife for Christmas from a different company and we are still waiting for it to show up. At least that has made it into the country and cleared customs.

@@TimberWood.Customs Ya know, it all boils down to politics and poor hygiene in China. Their official stance is that they have beaten the flu bug so doctors are punished if they report that someone has it which means people go untreated and it spreads and it becomes a bigger problem for them which means they shut down cities people can't get into work and things can't get out so depending on the city where something is coming from there can be problems and it looks like this is just one of those things.

I’d mostly be engraving on cutting boards but sometimes the cutting boards I make are slightly larger than the Ortur frame. Is it possible to engrave on larger objects by placing the Ortur legs on some blocks of wood to raise it up and then sliding the large cutting board underneath of the raised Ortur? I hope that makes sense. I appreciate your help!

I just had to raise it up a little by putting a block under each leg making sure they Were all the same height and then I just put the piece of wood underneath it. Now I did do some engraving on a piece of wood that was almost exactly the same size as the frame so with that I just set the actual laser frame on top of the wood and centered it as best as I could. At those feed rates won't the whole machine vibrate and slip as it works? I had to find some mounts to fix the feet to a board for my cheap laser from Two Trees because it kept slipping and ghosting engravings as a result. Granted, mine has two Y axis motors instead of one, so it may be a factor too.

Cutting plastic makes toxic fumes. I would not put it in the house if you do that. Wood is ok in the house as its not much different than a fireplace. (Assuming your not using treated wood) Still use ventilation or your smoke detectors will go off.

The software they supply with it is PC/MAC only. There is no linux available. If you were to run a different software then maybe you could use a Raspberry pi. There is a windows software for the Pi but you would want to use the raspberry PI 4 as you would need the CPU power it has. Then you can use that just like most 3d printers do to control it remotely. Windows can be remotely controlled using the built in app or any other software. However this is a lot of work and takes time to get it working properly.

Wow, I just bought the Ortur Laser Master 2 Laser, I got the LU1-4. I really bought this to engrave or burn onto wood, I am not really a cutter, but I am open to its uses. That being said, your presentation was really good and informative. I just subscribed and liked it. One question, do you think there is a preference regarding the power of one over the other? Is a lessor-powered laser better for engraving/burning into wood cutting boards for final product presentation? or does it matter? Thank for the video.
