Ive been using Tonars last few months, but noticing as they break in they are sounding worse.... inconsistent quality in the same groove, static taking on an almost digital type of distortion.... my worn down n447 carts still sound better!

I be using the ortofon vnl they great with real vinyl records too no skips while scratching n they sound great I be using them since they first came out for about two years man they great with real vinyl records battle style n the jico too are great but need to break in first those are my favorite cartridge at this time using real record no laptop yet

Love these new needles. Still have my Shures but the VNL are nioce!

@def creator ok thank you. I didn’t know that. I use a Vestax PDX-a2mkII with a straight tone arm for scratching, so I don’t have any anti skating knob.

4:12 no homie you need the overhang tool that came with your 1200s. That would allow your stylus to sit in the groove at its best at almost all positions of the stylus travel. Overhang tool aka alignment tool. You can download a simple protractor at vinyl engine. Trust me on this bro. Alignment is key although its a spherical stylus, you still want the diamond to sit in the groove at its best at all times

I bought a 100 m44s lot back in the day;) off eBay I’m talking 15 years ago;) ya I’m a hoarder but I save the good stuff

Ortofon makes great carts. If they say 200 pF load capacitance it must be really bright

Great video, The VNL output is 6mv way lower than the scratch at 10mv, the 44-7 were 10mv and would blow your head off. How does the VNL sound in person? Peace,

Is it true the needle never skips during scratching when using Serato?

How is the wear on the records with all the needle pressure?

Please do a vinyl rip comparison or something. On paper this cart is super quiet, but seems to be doing okay regardless.

It's 6mv and the shure is 9.5 but in the real world they are very alike volume wise. Also the VNL sounds cleaner and brighter but the shure has a little more bottom end.

random thing i always noticed... is there really a “real” way to hold the headshell? i started in the late 90s early 2000s and almost everyone know who started later hold it with index under and holding the top with their thumb. i find this more accurate. I know others who hold the headshell with their thumb under only. often old school guys, but maybe i just notice random stuff like that.

Really wish you would fix the focus on that camera.

I'm an ortofon man but they will never fill shures m44 shoes.

These needles really stick in the groove, but the output is SO low compared to Quberts or M44-7’s… noticeable loss of signal output, but I know the game, they’ll just remake with higher output and charge more…

Who else found themselves saying PAUSE during the video ⏸

There are better Jico's than these Ortofon's even others are higher mv output... 8.0 is there much notice difference with the VNL ? im a turntablist and need solidity on the deck.....

When calibrating you want the arm to be floating parallel to the table so you know you are starting at zero grams...
