Set for release on Daptone Records, Caracoles ushers Orquesta Akokán’s mambo into the 21st century with their unique akokán sound, a Cuban Yoruba word meaning "from the heart". Produced by Jacob Plasse and featuring pianist Michael Eckroth, the album showcases a collaboration with Cuban lyricist and singer Kiko Ruiz. This follows their acclaimed 2018 debut, which celebrated classic Cuban grooves, and 2021’s 16 Rayos, which blended mambo with diverse rhythms. Orquesta Akokán has toured worldwide, earning them widespread acclaim, including a Billboard Latin Music Award, Telemundo Latin American Music Award, Songlines Music Awards, and a GRAMMY nomination. Paradójico que jóvenes músicos norteamericanos aprecien esa época de la música cubana, ese sonido que prevalecía en los cincuentas, mientras los músicos cubanos están en otras galaxias musicales.
