Gorgona style Orphic hymn to ‘Ekati for trancework. Rhythm and melody by Arlechina.

οὐρανίαν χθονίαν τε καὶ εἰναλίαν, κροκόπεπλον,

Περσείαν, φιλέρημον, ἀγαλλομένην ἐλάφοισιν,

I used this as an offering for Hekate, and she loved it! This got her all fired up and her altar was absolutely shaking with energy! She is my Matron, and I only give her the best offerings I can find, and I can always feel her power when I give her offerings she really enjoys. Let me tell you, this hymn is well loved by her 🙏🏻

This performance feels so true to how it was done in antiquity
I love this melody and rhythm! A few days ago I felt spontaneously drawn to Hekate. A lot has been revealed in a short time, she's definitely real. I'm planning to invoke and honor her tomorrow during a new moon rite, and wow, so happy to discover this hymn today. I'm learning the words now, so I can sing along and connect deeper with her. Deipnon is so much fun with an indoor altar. I found she just loves Angel food cake, and my favorite offering to give her is garlic infused honey. She will love you forvever if you place those on her altar 🌒🌕🌘

hi, though loving this translation, i think v.1 would more (and too) literally translate to "I invoke/conjure (κλῄζω) Hekate (Ἑκάτην) protectress of the streets (εἰνοδίαν) and the crossroads (τριοδῖτιν), lovable (ἐραννήν)"

This is my poetic translation (from Orphic Hymns Grimoire): Hekate, Enodia, Trioditis most lovely, We call to you now, oh saffron-robed lady. You rule the heavens above and the black depths below. You skate across waves and flow with the seafoam. Sorcerous soul, you dance with the dead And the deer and the dogs who delight in your tread. Destructive One, Loner, irresistible Queen, You roar like a beast beneath the moon’s gleam. Unarmored, unconquered, chariot drawn by bulls, Holding keys of the cosmos and heavenly rules. Hierophant of the nymphs who haunt the high places, You nurture children with charm and good graces. I have made a few things but not much for the public. I used to teach traditional forms of Mediterranean trancework in person before the pandemic--lots of folk music and folk dances as well. I am heavily involved in the Mystery Religions of the Med, past and present. I would like to put more of it out on KZread but it feels like such a cold way to interact with people. For now, I just have a small group on Discord and I run seasonal classes for free online between April and October. If you have any ideas for videos that would be helpful to you, please let me know and I can give it a try.

It's the Orphic Hymn to Hecate. The lyrics she's singing here are in Ancient Greek, but you can find English translations online. The translation by Thomas Taylor is probably the most well known. And it's also the most "poetic" translation I've read so far, even though the ones by Apostolos Athanassakis and Patrick Dunn are more accurate with regards to original meaning. Taylor may have sacrificed some of the accuracy for the artistic effect. Not to say it's a false translation! It's just less fixated on order of the words, phrase constructions etc.
