Hi there!
Follow my journey westwards to the beautiful Outer Hebrides!
This time I again had to put up a fight with that big black gennaker. But everything quickly gets forgotten as I finnally reached the shores of Stornoway, the main "capital" of the Hebrides.
Were getting closer to St. Kilda now :)

19:58 : “To have dreams can wait until after life, you have to make plans and fulfill them in order to get where you want to be.” My Lord these are the words that I needed. 🙏
The footage is excellent, I’ve been a fan since episode 1. Please…please don’t head to the foredeck without a jack line or a PFD. We can’t lose you!!!!

A pfd wont help much in those cold waters. Better to drown quickly

@@Steve-ul8qbVery true, it won't take long with or without a pfd, But a tether on a jackstay gives you a better chance. If I went over I could turn the boat using the Raymarine remote app, but that would prove difficult if swimming to stay afloat. Actually I've recovered a guy suffering hypothermia off Dartmoor. He was happy as larry and said it was so warm he wanted to take his clothes off. He was soaked to the skin and it was minus 4°. Better to die happy than choking on seawater.
Erik is the sailors sailor with his superlative sailing skills. His cinematography is now brilliant too.Keep at it Erik. All the best to you.
You are a brave viking. See you in Valhalla, my friend.
Thanks for showing the genaker episode. It gives us mortals courage to use our gennakers solo and not get afraid of mistakes.
Eric,a great sailor ,an excellant narator, drives our Heart and mind to those beautiful north sea places.
Erik, for the gennaker, turn it into a cruising chute, get a snuffer system added to it and it will hoist and drop within its own little sock and be far easier to handle.
Love you Viking. Best sailing channel on the Tube . 🏆🍷🔔🔔 . Gods speed . 💪💪
Your travels always spark my daydreams into the great beyond. Thanks for showing us the way, Eric. Thank you.
Another excellent video. Erik is almost too honest about his defeats and struggles, and so makes the story authentic.
Erik, thank you so much for the fabulous episode. I felt like it had a great balance of exciting sailing and local history and sightseeing. Always important to show the locations that you sail to, in part because your drone footage is so good and many of these places are very quaint and historic. I’ve heard great things about the Hebrides from other friends of mine. Now, a word about your gennaker. I know it’s easy to get distracted while single handing and trying to fly a big kite like that. You wouldn’t be the first person I saw get rope burn from a spinnaker sheet once the sail got some pressure in it. Whenever I am in heavy air, I make sure to wear sailing gloves that have leather palms. I actually consider the gloves to be a piece of safety equipment due to the protection they offer your hands and they significantly increase the grip you can get on your running rigging as you’re working with it. Those gennaker sheets and spinnaker sheets are usually a smaller diameter line and that’s hard to grip with your hands, so the gloves give you that advantage. Don’t buy anything with rubber palms because the friction can melt the rubber. I only use work gloves that have full fingers and leather palms. Lastly, welcome to my world of quick release snap shackles. Like you, I have had those come loose in heavy winds. They’re great for when you are racing a sailboat because you can change out the sails quickly, but they’re not so great for the cruising that you’re doing. You’re actually better off just tying a bowline knot from your gennaker sheets onto your gennaker clew. Good work on this video. The sea state didn’t seem to be terribly rough and that allows you to get in some just sailing and no bullshit! Oh, and lastly, I didn’t see you wearing a self inflating PFD when you were on the floor deck. So very important to do that when you’re a single handing. Don’t make me fly there and have to buy you one!! OK enough complaining now. Just looking after you my friend. Keep up the great work!

Accidentally found your channel at chapter 1, and being a fan since then. You are not only a great sailor, but a fantastic man inspiring thousands of people better than a coach. Thank you for having you!

Thank you, welcome aboard!
You are so correct. Take what you have and live your dream. At 73 I am heading back to sea to visit what I missed the last time. And in case anyone thinks that is crazy my doctor told my I am physically 40-50 today at my check up. See you out there somewhere. 💨
Loved this! All of it...The voyage, and St. Clements church and Lews Castle, the beach and the village, all so beautiful. I felt like I was transported back in time to my Viking ship seeing it all taking in the wondrous sights.💗🍸🥂
Erik, you touched many chords in my heart in this upload, well said. I lost my best friend last week to MS and my Sister is dying of Leukemia in conjunction with 28 years of Crohn's disease. I feel more comforted knowing of the sights you have ventured to and experienced the hidden beauty of my country. Matheson was a Tai-Pan not too shabby in the day.
Gennekers and spinnakers have a mind of their own on every boat,Magic and a nightmare all at the same time.
I have my gennaker with a snuffer. Works very well. Never any furling problems :)!! Maybe would be a solution for you as well. I know it is a bit more old skool, and it took me a bit of working out, how to do it solo, but it works reliably for several years now. I always use one sheet as well. When I take it down, I just take the shoot with me on to the foredeck, wrapped only once around the whinch. As soon as I start pulling the snuffer down, I release the shoot. I fly it up to about 14 knots. (can do 18, but it gets dicy quick if wind direction changes). Perhaps give a snuffer a try.
This was a really good one! Nice! I can't wait to go there! And soooo happy to finally see you eating wisely for your condition. My wife and I watch your videos together and she is a nutritionist at a hospital. And she found it upsetting when you'd dump out a back of literal garbage to eat. New Things! Learning! Iterating! You do that so well! Congratulations!
Well said, Die with memories not dreams. Is that why many live so long ~
Fantastic Erik. Your tour of Harris and Lewis brought back a memory from the last century when spent 10 days on those magical islands.
Another fabulous episode Erik. I wear the T shirt with pride here in New Zealand.
Eirk, another great video. I love your honestly sharing the struggles with the Genaker. You are a pro, you know how to sail and yet you have some challenges as we all have. CONGRATULATIONS !!!
I love the positivity ... let the salt water fix the cold :-)
Fabulous! I was thinking of you yesterday as I went sailing in my O'Day DS1 on a very non-ferocious Fern Ridge Lake.
🙋From another one of your Outer Hebridean fans (South Uist). I hope you saw the "sgoth Niseach" on the pontoons there. They're the local type of wooden fishing boat from a century ago, maintained by a charitable trust who sails them regularly. I'm enjoying catching up with your videos!
Tack så mycket Erik för dessa videon! Fantastiskt fint material!! Fortsätt!!
Love what you’re doing Eric looks amazing again I envy you so much I agree with everything you say keep it going 😊😊
Merci pour cette échappé belle ⛵🤩👍. Merci Erik. Un breton de french 😉
Fantastic Eric , Hebrides' look as interesting as the Orkneys and just as beautiful I love Scotland and the Hebrides' is another part I have yet to visit 👍.
Thanks again Erik!!! Stay safe.🙏💪
What an absolutely wonderful video. Thank you.
Your channel and Sailing Yacht Florence are hands down the best sailing channels. Thank you and good sailing!

Best AG1 advertisement ever!
Man versus gennaker, this time it`s personal ! Thanks Eric for another epic !
Thank you, Erik! 👍
So nice to see you eating better. The longer you live, the more you will sail.
Fantastic video. Thank you so much.
Have to make a collection of every episode of Erik's passages. They're gold
No bullshit. Just sailing. This is what caused me to check out this channel a couple years ago, and why I’m still here. Keep up the good work.
Eric, you’ve really outdone yourself with the photography on this trip. I suppose the lay of the land, and the nature of the Hebrides has something to do with the amazing photography as well. I can see myself being a naturalist, and walking for hours along those amazing white beaches checking out shells and other sea creatures deposited in the sand. Keep up the good work and let’s hope you make it all the way to Greenland in the near future.
Always a pleasure to watch. Keep well. Cheers from NZ🙂
Amazing footage and interesting content as usual. Thank you !
Congratulations my friend, great journey, all the energy from Argentina so that the good winds continue!!!
Thank you Eric, beautiful video as usual x
Awesome video as always Erik, it's always fascinating coming along for the ride on your sailing trips, glad you enjoyed Harris and Lewis. Looking forward to the St Kilda video, we were there in 2015 and I will never forget going around all the sea stacks with all the gannets overhead.
Good to see you out and about again on Tess. Glad you're feeling well mate. Keep living and loving life! Cheers from Australia!!
Sailing and video footage brilliant as always Erik well done

Oh, what a wonderful, beautiful, magical episode. Thank you so much for that! And keep going, Erik. :-)

Erik a very moving and truthful passage you made. If the mass people only new that the world has great adventure throughout. One of our USA writer said this paraphrased. Bigotry, Racism and Narrow Mindedness is due to living in the same place one whole life. All the Very Best! Jim Rodgers
Awesome man!! Glad you’re feeling better 😊😎
