I own the blue (love it) and it runs about a second and half fast a day. I could care less because I rotate my watches anyway. Certainly wouldn’t pay more for something I don’t care about. Will be getting this green Aquis because it has the nicest green dial I have ever seen. It is gorgeous and love the modern, clean, sleek, unique look of the Aquis. Again, that green is such a bright, “happy” share of green. Love it.

Great, honest review! I bought my first Aquis this year after looking for one for years. I now own the 39.5mm "Clean Ocean" Limited Edition. Just love it. Absolutely agree with your thoughts in the video. Movement is the biggest downer on this watch. I mean, it's farly decent but they could do a lot better with it. Luckily you can easily adjust it. But I do still think an Oris Aquis is one of the best UNIQUE divers out there. And at leaster in Europe / Germany you can get them new for just about 1300-1400€ which is an awesome price for the quality Oris offers everywhere else. Thanks for the great review again, Bruce! All the best from Germany, Daniel

i really dont think watch enthusiasts care that much about + or - a few seconds here and there. we are surrounded by time. its everywhere. the tv, the smart phone, the smart watch, all your appliances, your computer, your car. the way a watch speaks to me is more important than a regulated movement.

I have an Aquis and your negatives about this watch hit the exact points I have about it. Getting a COSC certification and adding AR coating on both sides would greatly improve this watch. Plus give it non-integrated lugs and this watch is close to perfection then.

I bought a Baikal about two weeks ago and I’m pleased with it. They’ve released a new green Korean related //supporting watch in recent days, but the dial is too busy for my taste. I’d have preferred it if they’d given the existing teen dial the graduated effect as per the Baikal. I’m not convinced the power reserve is as long as they imply either. That said it’s a good looking watch

I love my green Oris Aquis. It's a great watch for the price and the green dial looks beautiful in the daylight. I agree that the lack of accuracy is a slight disappointment and an improvement in this area would go a long way to appease some watch enthusiasts. That said, if you're in the market for a reasonably priced swiss made watch, you won't go far wrong with the Oris Aquis. Thanks for the video Bruce. 😁👍

I think Oris offers two green dial watches( 43.5 and 39.5)and I think the shade is different. Both pop. Have the Lake Baikal myself. I find it wears bigger than most think. In terms of the bracelet it’s very comfortable and it doesn’t bother me that it’s proprietary. They need to upgrade the movement though.

I’ve owned 5 aquis over the years , great watches but I never seem to keep them for some reason .Tried the lake baicul on and this is the most impressive variant I’ve witnessed , it’s lovely. Oris aquis retails for the equivalent of 2000 dollars including tax here in the uk . Monta a microbrand is 2300 dollars when you include tax and import charges . Good stuff. About the only thing I think you could add is discussion of the size difference between the 39mm and the 42mm (?) versions. Its only 3mm, but that's a big difference for a watch. This is why the OA intrigues me. 39mm might be perfect for me - but the 42mm might be because it has a short lug-to-lug. I've resisted going into any shops to try them on because I really shouldn't get another watch when I already have one I really like!

Got the lake Baikal... Love it, its a bit big, but so stunning. The aquis is such an interesting watch in a sense that it's very tooly and industrial yet refined and almost flashy with its high polish. Its masculine yet fancy, its traditional yet modern or contemporary. It's an incredible design that sits somewhere between a lot of things but regardless of how you feel, in person you can sense and feel the quality. I wouldn't call em an investment piece but I think like 30+ years from now these watches will still look great and evoke positive impressions. For retail it's not bad but if you search around, you can get almost a 1/3 of the price off like I did on mine and then its well worth it!

Very nice review and video Bruce. I’m like you as I like my watches to be regulated and not have a lot of deviation and being significantly off the mark in being either slow or fast. While I really like the looks and build quality of the Oris, I would be pretty disappointed if a bought a watch for 2,000 which was, say 10 seconds fast/day. To me the number one complication of a watch is its ability to be a timepiece, and if the watch is either very slow or fast, I’m not sure I would be a happy camper. I just bought a Hamilton Khaki King and I’m very pleased as it’s running around 3 seconds fast/day, and I’m told it’s common for a Hamilton to be regulated and run within it’s specifications of plus or minus 5 seconds/day. I’m puzzled as to why Oris, a much more expensive watch, can’t do the same?

I do enjoy my 39.5mm green Aquis, the "Yoda". The one issue I have is the movement. It was 16 seconds fast but after adjusting it the watch is running +2 per day. I am not getting rid of it so the resale is not a consideration for me. But you nailed this one Bruce, everything is right on point. Edit: I forgot to mention, there is something about this watch that you have to see in person. Also with mine being on a bracelet, when I put it on it just feels like home. If that makes sense.

Do any of you have any informations if this is legit number?

Oris needs to hire you for their advertising and marketing. Stunning intro (unless that was done by Oris 🤣). Stunning nonetheless. You make a good point about the movement being accepted my more people if Oris would take the time and care to adjust it. Your Baikal stoke the show for me and agree with your wife that it’s a stunning piece. I was just looking at buying one now but the fact that the movement is what it is stopped me. What watches at the $2000 amount do you like best taking into account something that is “special”, can take a few knocks around the house, going out, and is a good timekeeper.

If they regulate it more or upgrade their movement, the prices will go up. With a price increase, I think there would be more haters. I think the draw to Oris are their designs, history, and independence at a reasonable price. Most of us watch addicts have enough watches (too many, more like it) to get overly upset on a +8s/day. At least its a positive gain! But I do agree there would be some who’d pay the extra premium for better regulation or movement. Maybe they could offer that? That would be awesome.

I'm fully in the market for this kind of dressy diver in this price range that can be used as a daily beater. Beautiful finishing, 300m WR, almost perfect dimensions (could be slightly slimmer). And an independent brand without being a micro brand. And not a vintage inspired diver, so it will likely outlive current fashion trends for decades. BUT...No problem with the use of Selitta/ETA or third party movements - but seems like Oris has skimped. Can someone answer me this: Why has the Longines Hydroconquest, a direct competitor, got an ETA 2892 with 64hr power reserve vs the Aquis 38hrs - and superior accuracy but is $100s cheaper (if maybe not as meticulously finished)? Maybe because Longines part of Swatch group, so ETA movements can be got below cost? BUT if cost-saving is the reason, why don't Oris at least regulate this movement of each piece to be close as possible to COSC before dispatching? Who wants or cares to have a visible case back displaying an entry-level Selitta movement? Surely that money could be better spent on regulating accuracy, especially if this is intended to be a daily wear watch?

I'm not gonna service it unless it's not running smoothly so if I decide to wait who knows when I would send it in, it could be decade or longer before it runs any different than +15.

I think you have hit the nail on the head re value being the biggest downside. i.e. For a little more money you can get a Sinn U50 or a Seiko Transocean GMT with a spring drive movement. For less money look at the new Seiko 62mas version for around $1300 (less when discounted). I agree Oris should improve the movement at that price.

Pablo Lopez...Interesting analysis Pablo. Sounds like you’re saying is that one can have the best looking bike in the world, but without a good suspension, it won’t be too much fun operating the bike....my analysis might be as follows. I’m retired now from doing global fraud and forensic accounting investigations. I’m from Chicago and performed investigations for Fortune 100 companies all over the World. While I’m not an accountant, I’m blessed with a bit of common sense which afforded me the opportunity to have some success conducting investigations everywhere from Latin America, China, Russia, Nigeria, Western and Eastern Europe, etc. Much like making an assumption that a watch will keep good time; I was able to follow the movement of cash into and out of a company, based on common sense and my expectations as to how the business “should’ be conducting it’s business. I guess my background in investigations causes me to obsess on my belief that a watch should be able to tell the time!

I just totally disagree with your proposition that this “does not have the value proposition that it should have” I know you are quoting others but then you agree with it, so I’d have to imagine that it’s your view as well. @@harrykuo2573 If you go too radical with changes, then the watch becomes something entirely different. The Aquis is a great signature design for Oris and I think it's longevity is testament to that. You call it "milking" but I think the consistency adds value for Aquis owners, knowing they don't have some obsolete design that will change every few years. We just have two different perspectives, neither being wrong. The Oris Diver 65 is an option for people who want a different design in an Oris dive watch. Oris, as an independent company, may not have the flexibility of an Omega to flood the market with different designs. Personally, I find Omega's Seamaster approach off putting. The Pro, the AT, the PO... I don't think of anything in particular (except maybe the arrow hand) when I think of a Seamaster and that lessens the value for me. The Speedmaster on the other hand has remained very consistent over the years in regards to the design of the core watch. Obviously there have been countless editions of the Speedy (talk about "milking" something) but the shape and layout of the watch hasn't changed much in 50+ years, am I wrong?
