Orioles win big as Ryan Mountcastle continues to torment Toronto!

Спорт

The Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays again on Tuesday night, and this time with the help of Canada's least favorite baseball player - Ryan Mountcastle. Host Connor Newcomb recaps the game and highlights performances from Corbin Burnes, Mountcastle, Adley Rutschman, and others!
Then, Connor discusses the impact of the Orioles losing Tyler Wells and John Means for the rest of the 2024 season as they will both require elbow surgery.

As an Os fan and a Canadian…Mountie is not hated in Canada. Jays fans don’t care enough to hate him. Besides that, great episode and congrats on the milestone.

My only suggestion is to just keep doing what you're doing; as a Marylander now living in North Carolina, I really appreciate you for not just the in-depth analysis, but also my daily dose of that Baltimore vibe.

Connor, I’ve been an avid Os fan for 60 years and listening daily to your excellent program over the last several. Your insights are always informative, well researched and developed, and exquisitely reasoned and presented. Talk about listening first thing in the morning? If I can’t sleep at night, I might listen at 3 am! I’ve worked in communications and writing and advertising all my career, so I might listen a little differently than most, and you have a splendid voice for the medium, but you have one verbal tic that stands out to me (that I’d bet most people don’t notice). Every transition to a new section is “But first,”. Sometimes I’ll even say it out loud a splint second before you do. You should try to vary those transitions some. Sorry for the criticism but I’m also a former College Wrting Teacher, so I really can’t help it. Plus I want the T-shirt.

Take my sub, I’ll take the hoodie🤣 Five things you need to know about me. 1. I started listening to the pod last season. It has become one of my go to podcasts and my top choice for all things Orioles. 2. I love the insight and format. The podcast is always Informative but not drawn out. 3. I am Baltimore born and raised and have been an O’s fan since birth. I feel like the future of this club has never been brighter. 4. On the rare occasion I miss a game, I know I can get caught up on all that I missed by listening to this podcast. 5. I will need that hoodie in a size Large

You do a great job Connor. You’re a very effective communicator and it isn’t lost on me when listening. I can tell you put in the work to make this a good production and I appreciate the positive and level headed takes, even when it’s an emotionally reeling time for a fan. I also love the stats you pull out, so keep doing what you’re doing. I live in New England now but never lost my Baltimore roots. Repping that hoodie in front of all these Boston fans would be pretty sweet ;)

Love how you analyzed TJ surgery data! I would love more analysis of salary data and salary decisions. And commentary on the structure. Seems like giving away 9 years of control at draft signing is excessive, too.

Us old timers need to start a new movement to get Elrod's jersey retired. I know previous ownership said non hall of famers were not eligible for that honor. But as us old guys know full well no human on earth wore an Orioles uniform for more time than Elrod Hendrix. He deserves nothing less.

You do a great job Connor, I love listening to your podcasts, especially your breakdown of new players and pitchers and what they could bring to the team! My only constructive feedback is when you recap weekend games, you end the recap with the loss (or losses).....start with them! Get the bad part out of the way first then talk about the awesome victories, end on a good note! Congrats on the marriage!!

I really like all the knowledge you share about the Orioles. I also like how you give more context of Hyde's decisions and what's going on in general with the team. And I loved your rants against Angelos haha. I wish there was a group chat on a platform like Discords to chat with other fans. And I wish there were some episodes that talk Orioles stories. I really love the pod, thanks for doing it!

Only suggestion...your audio gain at the end of the episodes needs adjusted so your outro music doesn't drown out your words 🙂 Other than that, no notes - congrats on the 7k+ 🎉

Honestly, I can't think of anything I'd like changed. Maybe a slightly better camera? The audio sounds great (now that last week's opening 5 seconds being louder seemed to be fixed) but the video often looks like it's slightly out of focus or really low quality (like 480p or even 360p) even when I double-check that KZread's stream quality is set to highest quality available. That's my only suggestion - invest in a better camera. The content can't be beat!

daily listener of the audio podcast feed here. congrats on the milestone. I appreciate your sober homer-ness. you are both transparent on your heart based feelings as well as the head bases business side of your reaction to the O's news. this episode about John Means was a good example of that natural duality. my only criticism (lol) is that you held your ground about not liking the Jorge Lopez trade to the Twins. come'on, surely with the benefit of hindsight, you can see that it was the right move despite how much fans hated it. it's not that you were originally against it, just that that feeling persisted in the face of how it ended up playing out. but I suppose there's something to being confident in your own opinion. I take it back, no criticisms of the podcast. 😂
