Holiday has to realize it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Stay patient at the plate and let the more experienced guys handle the tougher catches. I know he’s going to do great at this level, he just needs to allow himself to adjust and not force it.

Yep hes had multiple errors now where there has been a pop fly and hes tried to catch it by running into the outfield and catching it over his shoulder but he misjudges it and it drops. Everything else he looks good on defensively. If he could hit his speed would be a good weapon but that's a massive if

What do you mean "let the more experienced guys make the catches"? He is playing defense exactly as you should. Both of those bloop hits should have been caught by the outfielders. Mullins didn't hustle on the one Wednesday night, and Santander lost his in the lights. The rule is the outfielder is supposed to all the infielder off the play; it's not a matter of "letting" anyone make the catch, it's a matter of playing the way they've been taught. Holliday is going to have to adjust to major league pitching, just like 99% of rookies do--hardly any rookie hits right out of the gate. He'll need 50-75 ABs to get acclimated, (which is why I thought he should have been on the Opening Day roster in the first place) then he'll hit just like he's done at every other level. Adley was terrible his first two or three weeks in his rookie year, Henderson was awful for two entire months last season before winning the ROTY, and Cowser was so bad it was painful to watch. How are they doing now? Holliday will be fine; I'll bet his end of year slash line is somewhere in the neighborhood of .260/.335/.400, which would be all they need from a #9 hitter.

@@edwil111 he was traded to the Padres in 2015 when the Braves were rebuilding. With the Braves he had 1.43 career era with less than 20 blown saves in all those 5 years with him ... The Red Sox didn't sign him because he wanted a multi year contract, he just had 11 blown saves in 3 season with Boston. He had 109 saves in 118 chances which is excellent. The Cubs signed him and he just blew 5 saves in 43 chances in those 3 years. He was traded to the White Sox because he was great in 2021 0.43 era with just 1 blown saves in 23 chances. The White Sox wanted someone veteran Like Kimbrel in the Bullpen. He has been with 8 teams because every great team wants him. No wonder why he has won 3 AL East titles (All with Boston during those 3 years, after Kimbrel left, the red sox haven't won anything, coincidence ?) So he has been division champion in The AL East, NL East, AL Central, NL Central, NL West and he hasn't won an AL West title because he has never been in a team from that league. He has been in all great teams every single year like for example The Orioles this year. He also barely goes to the Injured List even at 35 years old. He looks better than many young arms.

Why can’t we protect a lead? It is incredibly frustrating. At least we didn’t give up a 5-0 lead this time. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that. lol This is precisely the Red Sox season I fully anticipated. I am so glad that I didn’t allow the team to prematurely get my hopes up after a hot start to the opening few games. I learned my lesson regarding hope after last season and just being a Red Sox fan in general tbh. lol With this team it will be a dream if we can finish anywhere near .500. The positives are the likes of Rafaela and the further development of Casas and Duran. I reckon Grissom can add something special to this young team. Bello needs to take that next step in his development and become our ace. Because our pitching situation is probably the most worrying area imo. The team is in a rebuild and we definitely have some decent pieces, which is great to see. Tyler O’Neil is looking like this year’s version of Duvall or Turner.

The AL East is going to eat up the Boston Red Sox. And if teams like the Royals or Diamondbacks or Cardinals come to town it is going to be some long innings in the red sox future. He struggled at the end of last year when he was moved to Norfolk, but then he came out blasting this year. It takes time. The dude is only 20. Not like anyone else on this team not named Cowser is doing anything right now. Like Mr. .071 Hays.

If we’re going to make judgements after 2 games, I guess Boston’s pitching staff is the best of all time then because that’s what the stats say.

It all depends on the closer like Josh Hader was a 2 inning guy but now he’s a one inning guy kimbrel has usually been a one inning it all depends on if they pitch well going 2 innings

First number is Hits, the second number is At Bats. So a 1-4 means that the player got 1 hit in 4 times at the plate.
