Origins and Features of the 580 Break Goalie Gloves

Спорт

The 580 glove has always enjoyed a strong and loyal following of goalies who feel like a unique group in the #GoalieUnion. The strength of the 580 brand - if you can call it that for the 90-degree break glove made now by multiple manufacturers - is growing with models now available for the general public from companies such as Bauer that only previously made them for pros.
This week Woody and Cam go over the origins of the 580 and where the name came from, what makes it the choice of many pros today and how it could help your game today.
Check them out @hockeyshop where your can order now!

Here’s an add to the history lesson. The glove itself actual predates the 580 name. The 560 was the first with a 90 degree break. That’s the glove that Roy was referenced in using as he actually never wore the 580 equipment. The 90 degree break was carried over to the Koho 570 and into the Koho 580 until the Koho 590 was introduced. The first clones emerged from the Sher-Wood guys in the early 2000s with the 9970 and 9980 being 90 Degree break gloves.

The 580 break may help less pop-outs to occur compared to other glove designs with 'fingers up'-style playing. Looking forward to the 'Origins and Features of the 600 Break Goalie Gloves' video.

Custom skates and 580 break are GAME changing things for me. Why didn’t I have this available when I played major junior hockey!

Great video content... I use an older brians and have no idea the break, coming from a tps from 99. just a few too many camera angles and losing track of where the next one is.

it’s in between a 590 and 580. When I tried it on it felt more of a 580 to me :)

@@bernieyao yeah, its inaccurate so no idea why this video states that. He was a big 590 guy. Best example is looking at his Revoke PZ set from Dallas for clear cut, high def examples.

@@ethansnipez oh yeah definitely, it all really comes down to comfortable hand placement. For me i get all the benefits of a 580 with a 590 just by how i place my hand in my stance
