I got myself an original M31 tropical Rucksack, the big advantage is, that all the straps are made from webbing material, so it's still usable. Just the drawstring is missing...

VERY nice, super informative!❤ I am no reenactor, but i Love oldshool gear and Camouflage. I have a Repro M31 Rucksack (with little mods, i uploaded a video about it here on my channel) and i Like it... But the Gebirgsjäger Rucksack is much better i think! So many pockets, very good! I heard the shoulder straps are removeable - This doesn't seem to be the case from looking at these? Is that just for the M41s and these are M31s or what?

Yes the straps are not removable on these. Both the repro and the original. Yes I believe for most of those you can remove the straps.

Would you recommend any way of darkening the really light colour naked leather on the back of the shoulder straps to be closer to the original ?

That will happen when I start to treat the leather with mink oil or other grease for protection. That will darken the light leather with time and usage. Also the sweat from the body and salts will also act with the leather.

nice rucksack wonder why they didn't just make an exact copy?, how much was it?

Think just to cut cost to make one. This was about $140, but you can find them cheaper.

I heard that ATF makes those rucksack with real leather but it’s not thick enough. Also it’s really interesting to see the differences between original and reproduction items are but originals with always be better.

So with my limited knowledge on the matter, sorry to say I can´t help you on that one ;) But what are you looking for? Type of boots officers would wear or the history of the boots? Or what rank would wear the boots?

@@eldiscurso4908 Well you will have to do some research on that one my friend. There are good books on the subject matter and also you should be able to find it on line. Books like; German Army Uniforms, Uniforms of the Third Reich and Deutsche Soldaten: Uniforms, Equipment and Personal Items of the German Soldier 1939-1945.

Yes, and it will look allot better with real leather :) Well as best as it can... :) And when it starts to age and break in, then the bag will get even better look.
