Thank you for this video. I've had the original bmpcc for about 18 months. My go to setup is a .71x metabones speedbooster and the Nikon mount Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, shooting in Cinema DNG at 800-iso and editing in Davinci Resolve 16. I have to say your video has convinced me not to upgrade to the 4K. I just don't see any advantage, and in most of the comparisons I preferred your OG image to the 4K.

Wow that's a lot closer than I thought it would be. The saturation is just a little more on the 4k. The moire is a thing, but it's something I can deal with. 80% of the time I'm not delivering in 4k, so I kind of think the OG is what I'm looking for. However I do like the braw of the 4k.

would be interesting to see some landscape shots at f9 (as in close ups the difference in resolution is not noticeable)..... I have the original pocket, at 4:20 the moire on the shirt is the biggest difference. I love my original pocket (have the zacutu evf and the dedicated bmpcc ef speed)....I don't want to sell it for the 4k, but from a working on set production stand point the 4k makes more sense to own for a "B" cam. (my "A" cam is a Red Scarlet, although thinking of moving my "A" camera to a Canon c200)

The sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art comes in Canon EF or Nikon F mounts, so you will need an adapter to mount it on the camera since it has a MFT mount. What lens to get really depends on your needs, shooting style, budget etc. But if you are going to go with a one lens setup, I would recommend to go with a zoom to cover a range of focal lengths.

both the canon and gh5 have worse dynamic range. The bmpcc has much greater dynamic range (12 vs 10 usable stops. or 13 vs 11 advertised stops). With the blackmagic cameras a IR cut filter is recommended (especially the older ones)

I checked this whole year at the face book group and eBay... I found one today with Kingston 256 GB memory card (special standard suitable for BMPCC) -3 batteries (of which 2 Nikon batteries with extra long battery life) and the charger of course, all for 487 dollars on a different local site for second hand stuff... I got three 4/3 micro lenses from my GH3 camera... So, am considering this camera now.. but am not sure as the Black Magic 4k is just a couple of more hundred dollars more as a second hand camera and the same with the Gh5S that handles low light situations and got automatic focus for me to act in front of the camera. How to act in from of the Black Magic original camera when you are on your own, no auto focus?! anyone got some good advices? shall I skip the OG and go for another GH camera in 2023 to get auto focus as I am in front of my own camera in what I do now as an actor/director?... though the image the OG produce is really cool and a big 70s-80s trend now! hmm, what people advise ? is it just a nightmare to get started with the OG if you want to film yourself acting or can one set the focus in a good enough way and act out monologues, reporting from places when out n' about and get the 70s look a the same time or is it better to get a GH5s or gh6 and let the auto focus work for you and try to struggle in the edit to get a more cinematic look with those cameras? please advice! thanks

To be honest the difference is next to non existing. I am amazed how well the RAW video material of the BMPCC competes against the 4K model. And to be honest i prefer the FullHD picture over the slightly over-sharp 4K model since the 4K one looks a bit too much like Video while the BMPCC (even though it too still looks like video) reminds me a lot more of Film since it is not unnaturally over-sharp. I'm sure if you'd properly upscale the Full HD material to 4K you still would barely see a difference.
