John is a jazz drummer playing metal - you can see it in his technique and hear it in his feel and dynamics. He's absolutely insane.

2:47 LOL shakes his head at the fact that Ryan sped the riff up.
For all the people looking for the name of the ride, this is a comment from another video of John Longstreth on the sickdrummermagazine channel: "I once did a job as a drum tec on an event where Origin played. I know for sure that one of the rides ( the one on the right-hand side ) was a Meinl Mb 10 Custom Mega Bell Ride in 22"."
I,ll always have a special place in my heart and brain for this video
John Longstreth... one of the few metal drummers in the extreme metal community THAT ACTUALLY STANDS OUT

He's the One that made others shine today.... without Him DM drumming wouldn't be the same.
This is still one of my favorite drumcam video on KZread and 7 years later I'm proud to announce that Krokmitën has just released THETA, an album featuring Mr Longstreth behind the kit. Check out now on the krokmiten channel!
This is so beautiful that it makes me cry.
One of my favorite drumcam video on KZread. One of my favorite drummer after mine haha
Absolutely the best death metal drummer.

@@Kain_R_Heinlein Saint Merrat is amazing, I'll grant you that but technically, John is more advanced, faster, and his drum songwriting is more tasteful and more creative. But Jamie isn't far off!

Look at the size of it
this is MADNESS! some of the fastest double bass i've ever heard in this one. cant even imagne how many calories he burns during a gig. love the entity album, best one so far imo.
The master at work!
It's one thing to hear a drum track in a song and then to actually see the drummer doing it. I mean, hearing Saligia without Video you're already thinking the drumming is nuts, but seeing it... I never realized before that the song has so many awesome little licks and fills (maybe it hasn't because live drummers often play different ones to make things more interesting and varied or maybe because they are bored, lel) , simply awe-inspiring.
Maybe the most impressive video that I've seen from John Longstreth...!
The best part is he acutally looks like he's bored.

1:11 SICKEST MOMENT! *I HAVE 2 MILLISECONDS TO DIG MY NOSE! BRILLIANT!*
I saw these guys a few months ago, it was insane!
The angle is amazing!
John Longsreth is the only guy I can watch blasting for 6 mins without getting bored. His blast beats are tasty as fuck the accents really makes them sound awesome. Dude's great.
That was sick!
This is my favorite drummer nowadays
I keep replaying that fill at 1:07...so sick.
Looks like he has fantastic control. Very much enjoy this song
he has super skillz no doubt about that! i lover every drummer on SD and in the world
He makes it so easy
thats one badass drummer! fucken love it!
i love your skill blast!!!!
Awesome drummer
One of my fav Death Metal drummers. Along with Pete Sandoval and Mike smith.
I love this drummer, that snare .... makes me do this :)
What a beast!!!
I really love the placement of his drums. I wish I could get my hi-hat in the same position that he has but I can't seem to manage it. I suppose I need a drum rack.

Steady work man!
Origin the best!
solid strokes dude
nice kit
that might be the angle the music was recorded at. the drums come through crisper and faster since the recorded is right behind the set so the rest of the music is lagging especially since i imagine the speakers are facing out towards the crowd. that is....if it's recorded the way i think it is.
4:30 man just... wtf. Like what is he thinking. What an alien.
@InFiNiTyEnDs69 that ride is a Meinl Sound caster custom mega bell ride
@Sniz44 that is a Meinl sound caster fusion 16" china :)
It is not out of sync, sometimes youtube cache's wrong or just lags in certain browser. try it again or refresh.
EPIC
yea!!!!!!!!!!
I liked it before I even watched it! ✊
*acceptable, I love them! :) Rock on
entity was some of the most amazing drumming ive heard... that is like most of the album... its has good guitar riffs and shit but that album is all drums lol
You just made the ad more effective by commenting on it and so did everyone who liked the comment.
Smooth drumming...
OK you've got a point, and this angle is pretty sweet.

does anyone know what remote hihat stand john plays?
ORIGIN!!!!!!
This video needs a version 2.0. I mean, when this fucking pandemic is over, someone needs to film Saligia again from top POV with console sound and 4k video at 60fps.
I understood your comment, but the fact that you like that song means that you have no basis on which to form an argument in favour of "better music".
Why,thank you.
what is that meinl cymbal on the far left? BEAUTIFUL

Do you have Ulcerate under your channel that would be really cool if you did!
what is that ride cymbal on the right that sounds so heavy and clean. On the Meinls website it says its the Mb10 22" Heavy Ride but the picture dose not match up to this. The bell on here looks way bigger than on the pictured meinl has...anyone?

If you were wondering 5 years later lol it’s the Classics Custom Extreme Metal Ride, one of the 2 mega bell rides Meinl offers
This is like the third time you post longstrength playing this song
It looks fine here... not sure why it's out of sync for you?
he is a god!!
Does the song speed up after the first break?
It looks like the Meinl Soundcaster Custom Mega Bell Ride. (you can look it up on the Meinl website).

un fiou.
HOLY FUCK!
Я не драммер, просто слушаю TDM, но по моему мнению у Джона самый крутой и техничный стиль игры. Особенно на рабочем барабане.
@Painkiller1157 Remove that comment from your memory, I was just being a drunken ass, you're own opinin on John is just that, but I will be happy to argue that John is a amazing drummer and is a legend among metal musicians.
What is the thing to his left with the colored lights???
no, if you watch the scene that i've linked you'll be able to imageine the word i was talking about something like "wow" "unbelievable" or just plain "oh shit!" now there you go, you've now learned to think beyond the words' meaning ;)

Anything after 130 bpm - kicks can't be heard. Definitely need something at least basic for eg. an Alesis DM5 to put on a way higher pitch, so the kick sounds almost click-y. I'm sure he had that or similar equipment, but whoa it sure got lost in what I'm guessing was a big reverberate-y room or hall they were playing in.

Technical Drummer!
Crazy break at 1:05 !
I will clarify: Certain bands (e.g., Origin, Viraemia) sell themselves on the technicality, heaviness, and brutality of their music. "Emotional playing" isn't even part of the equation. It's like when someone listens to Altars of Madness or Symphonies of Sickness and says "He can't sing." It's not that they're TRYING to sing and failing. They're not singing at all; they're screaming (or grunting, growling, whatever). Does that makes sense? I hope to clarify my initial statement.
Holy dog shit, HOW SOFTLY THIS MAN SEEMS TO BEAT HIS GEARS although he's one of the most brutal drummers in this world !
how did you mount that cam?
@cahslundglass 12" byzance beauties, fast decay, great chick, clear projection, ...
What the hell is his left hand technique?
Where did his hair go :( . I liked the floating hair lol.
but not this angle, we have more on it's way just dig this angle and song.
fleshgod apocalypse have some 300's as well, and there's always kollias to kick ass. and i've never seen hellhammer do the chosen legacy live without playing triplets instead of sixteenths.
