That is the coolest origami snail ever! I just found the video today, while keeping cool in my basement wit a laptop and basic origami survival kit. Now I'll have to go upstairs and get some bigger paper. LOL It's amazing what one can find in a bird base.

Wow! This folding presentation is fantastic and I really love it. My 7-year-old son and I followed your presentation and successfully built our models. Thank you very much. What I like about your model is the nice and proportionate 3-D shape of the snail shell and the body. This model does stand out among other competing snail origami models. One suggestion I'd like to add is perhaps the shell part: While both sides of the shell look great, they tend to stay apart, as time goes by; so While it looks great from the sides, but not from the front. I know this is one of the soft spots of origami models, but it'd be great if we see some ways to hold the both edges of the surrounding tops. Just a suggestion. Still, this is the best snail model out there.

I think thinner paper works better in this case. But if you want to give it a go, I'd recommend you use larger paper to have a chance of getting at least some detail (i.e. more repetitions) on the shell.

It's a more advanced model. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.
