Origami Template Projects for Pottery! - Includes FREE TEMPLATES!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video Ann again draws inspiration from origami projects intended for paper but applied to clay. As a bonus, she also shares her FREE templates at the links below. These pottery projects are relatively easy and you can follow right along to make these functional pieces. The glazing and firing information is below as well. Otherwise, RELAX and enjoy this video!
All pieces were made from Standard English Porcelain #365, bisqued to Cone 04, and fired to Cone 5. The Nested Plates were glazed with Spectrum Light Beige #320. The Server Platter was painted with various Amaco Underglazes and coated with Amaco C-11. The white Condiment Bowl was glazed with Amaco Snow C-10.

Ann also creates sought after custom mugs that she paints exclusively for individual clients. If you would like to learn how Ann paints - check out her Video Workshop Series here. These workshops are very detailed (typically 1.5 - 2 hours in length) where Ann provides step by step instruction and are designed to help potters take their work to new levels of craftsmanship and artistry. vimeo.com/showcase/6725318

I love learning from you, thank you for sharing. x
Really like the use of Origami in pottery design. Your video strengthen that feeling. The last piece reminded me of a dory having been cut in half. Very neat! Cheers...Freddie

Thanks Freddie. Jim's first wife was named Dory so I'm not opposed to cutting a dory in half.

These are very cool!
Ann, I love your use of origami in ceramic clay, what an inspiring idea! I am endlessly amazed at what human beings can make from clay. It has never failed to fill me with delight and wonder. I love your work, it shows your constant relationship with shape and form in all its variety. I think that is what makes your work so beautiful, graceful, and practical all at the same time. I especially loved the floral shaped dishes, and my other favourite was the graceful triangular dish. You are so gifted. Thank you for sharing your work with us. God bless you.

Oh Thea...its a match made in heaven! Especially when Jim thinks he's Martin Scorsese and screams "CUT, DO IT AGAIN!!!"
Thank you Anne for this very interesting video. I love these forms you made. Maybe I'll give them a try once my garage studio gets warm enough for me to work there. Yesterday the temp there was around 43°F, and far too cold.

Those are great! I really like the second bowl and if you did elongate the end of the third bowl into a spout it would look just like an ancient oil lamp.🐝🤗❤️

Thank you for sharing I'm excited to try these. How big are the templates you used? Particularly for the flower stacking bowls and triangle condiment bowl? The templates download as pictures and will print at whatever size I want. I would love some advice on where to start.
@LittleStreetPottery

The stacking bowls are 4, 6 and 8" across...but you can make them as you like!
Love the hiccups! I’m saving for a kiln. How long can leather dry pieces be stored?

So many variables like humidity etc...I've been able to do it for a week at times. Damp box can help too...we have a vid on that. Thanks.
I can't find the templates or the description and comment spot.
Stunning. In general, how long do videos take? I mean this one goes from raw clay to glazed piece with sauce! Do you have a very rapid firing schedule or do videos just take you a long time? Or both!?

No short cuts. We experiment on the weekend, shoot video on Mon / Tues, edit and record scripts on wed / Thursday, (while bisquing and glazing), shoot final shots Friday and publish on Saturday am. It’s a labor of love really cuz the pay ain’t so great 😉. We remain inspired by folks like you that watch.

0:21 hello! Thank you for the link to the patterns. This will be my first time doing such a project and using a pattern. Do I just print the pattern? Or use it as a guide in making my own? I feel like it’s a silly question, but maybe not? Thanks!
@LittleStreetPottery

Yes, correct - most folks just print the pattern and size with their printer / computer to what they need. Good luck!
