    I found the video very detailed and clear, and had no problem following along. Not sure why others are having so much trouble, unless they are complete newbies to folding. The resulting model is super cute and people are surprised to see that it stands up! Thanks very much!

  • @Happyfolding

    @Happyfolding

    6 жыл бұрын

    I think you meant to add a different time reference - that's the end of the video. :) Generally, folding carefully and slowly helps. You can sometimes also shift paper slightly to ease paper tension to prevent rips. Hope this helps!

    I just checked 8:34 and to me it looks to be recorded very clearly. It is a trickier step, as it's a closed sink, but no new creases are created.

    Keep trying! Sinking is kinda weird at first, but if you take your time and mountain fold/pinch the edges of the area you are trying to sink, it gets pretty easy. The only tricky part about this one is being careful not to unfold the side that has multiple layers - just hold that area together with your fingers as you press down the "paper crater." Many intermediate models have this type of fold, so mastering it will really improve the quality and quantity of your paper menagerie!

    I'm not sure what Rebecca's trouble was, but something that I find helpful is showing the diagram step as it's being performed, like Jo does. Also, showing the finished model during the shaping phase would be helpful for knowing what I'm shaping to. I don't think anyone else does this, and I'm not sure why. Just a suggestion! I think your tutorials are great without them.

  • @Happyfolding

    @Happyfolding

    7 жыл бұрын

    I have done that for a couple of videos. But sometimes I don't have digital files of diagrams, sometimes the designer doesn't want diagrams to be shown in the video, sometimes I present the model a bit differently than shown in the diagrams. Drawing my own diagrams would take considerably more time, so at least currently I usually don't include diagrams in the videos. I agree, though, that it has advantages showing them. Thanks for the suggestion of showing the finished model while shaping. While folding I do sometimes show the finished model for reference, but it might be a good idea to continuously show the model at least towards the end. By that point, the paper has usually been folded into a much smaller shape, so that the paper doesn't take up as much of the video frame as in the beginning. Food for thought, I'll have to experiment with this idea.

    It is very hard to follow you with the head. You got to fast on it, and because it is a small piece your finger sometimes block the image to really understand. Some of the head foldings need to be explained and shown more carefully. Thanks for the challenge... but couldn't do the head. Everything else ok.

    If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.
