Origami Celestial Kusudama (Joseph Hwang)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Learn how to make an Origami Celestial Kusudama designed by Joseph Hwang with this video tutorial! This is an excellent modular model, and it's not very difficult to fold. Each unit is folded from one square, and you will need 30 units to fold your kusudama.

Special thanks to Joseph Hwang for granting me permission to share this design with you. He is in the process of diagramming around 30 modulars for a new book, so check back in the coming weeks for updates! In the meantime, be sure to check out photos of his work here:

The blue print for all origami instructional channels. Nobody presents models more clearly or thoroughly. The content may be infrequent, but it's always more than well worth the wait.

Thank you for your clear and easy to follows instructions, but it still blows my mind! I'm very new to origami and I'm at the very easy heart ❤ origami level, which took me 10 minutes to do for only one! I guess you have to start somewhere 🤷. But I'm persevering!

This is awesome. Earlier during quarantine I was trying to figure out how to make a unit to create this shape (rhombic hexecontahedron), but I couldn’t figure out a simple unit that was easy to assemble and made of a standard square.

Has anyone tried to make this using multiple colors? If so, what amounts of each color and arrangements within the modular worked well? I'm speculating that 6 colors, with 5 sheets of each, could look good. But it's hard to predict w/o making the model first and understanding where sheets of different colors might overlap.

I hope I'm not too late with the reply,, but I think you need 5 different colours with 6 sheets of paper for each colour. I also haven't tried yet, but since the shape is in a 5 point star, and since I have made origamis in a similar style, 6 of 5 different colours should work. I hope this helped

@@moony7175 thanks for the reply! You are too late, but I did figure it out. I made one using 6 each of 5 colors of post it notes, and it turned it out really well! I was able to arrange them so no colored "tile" was ever touching a tile of the same color by their sides, only corners, and it's a really good effect! I just got the designers' new book in the mail today, so I'm excited to try interesting color combinations on a bunch more modulars
