To me, I think that the Moki played a central role in the story. They watched over Ku and found the wisps for Ori. They also guided him on his journey, giving him advice and opening the way to the areas he needs to go to. I will always love those little guys.

The ending is so bittersweet. It's satisfying in that we've come full circle yet sad when you see effects of the flow of time.

I think Shriek is like the baseline of how villains came to be. They were once all innocent, but then something happened and they found the world to be too cruel. In the end they could only focus on one thing their whole life: the weak will fall and the strong survive. Shriek was an orphan. She had no one to guide her. She wall all alone and everyone turned her away.

The ending is so damn bittersweet. On one hand we've come full circle and Ku grew up happy, but on the other Shriek didn't get a happy ending 😭😭

I really don't like the ending. At all. It's not that it's bad, I think the game is a masterpiece. It's just...too hard to take. Shriek got absolutely fucked with her arc. They missed a golden opportunity to incorporate Ku into the storyline more to try saving Shriek. Using her deformity to show Shriek that regardless, love and acceptance can be found. With Ori's sacrifice, I'm okay, I just wish it had saved Shriek and Shriek could have had her decay wiped away by the sacrifice, as Ori's sacrifice healed Ku's wing. Ku would get another owl to mentor her and Shriek finds love and a family in Ku. Instead we get Shriek dying under fucking parent's wings, and a very unsatisfying cutscene of Ku going from sad over Ori's death (they never even got to meet again) to fully grown and flying away in 20 seconds. It just felt rushed. I'm left dissatisfied. I wanted so much more Ku in this game.

@@bennnnnification Yep, exactly the ending I had in my head. Would have rounded things off perfectly thematically. I don't understand why this wasn't the ending, it's so infuriating and bizarre to me. I'm just going to keep assuming the official ending never happened. It feels like they were just "how can we make this as sad as possible to play into the 'feels' meme" instead of actually putting together a proper ending, but if that was their goal the only feeling I got out of it was frustration and anger. This isn't the game series for irredeemable villains

@@knighty I tend to agree that they just went for a maximum feelsy ending. Maybe I'm just a pussy but Shriek's arc fucked me up and it just caught me off-guard, even for a game that was expected to tug on heart strings. What makes it more dissatisfying for me is that an arc of redemption for her, with Ku's help, actually makes sense thematically. They really underplayed Ku. They marketed her heavily and a lot of people were hype for her, but she lay there in a comatose state for 90% of the game. She was such wasted potential. Sad, really, 'cause I do love the game/series a lot. But it's whatever, the ending will have to suffice. I'm happy to just pretend Ku helped Shriek in the end lol.

@Haytham Kenway Haha same here. I was ok with Ori's sacrifice at the end, I thought it kind of made sense, since Ori was basically a seed from the tree of the first game anyways. But why on earth was Ku dead for most of the game?? We only ever got to fly around on her back one time in the entire game (if you dont count the prolouge) and that was very frustrating I felt like they had the ending in mind before they even started developing the rest of the game and couldnt find a way to implement Ku properly in the story, and since they had no idea, they just simply killed her off, lmao Im disappointed too

@@bennnnnification I think the point is, life isn't fair.

First of all, darn I just want to throw out there that Naru has been through a lot. She died of starvation at some point (and then was resurrected,) nearly lost both of her children, and ultimately one of those children gave up their original form in order for everyone to survive. Second of all, I kinda ponder if Ku's poor wing had anything to do with exposure to the Spirit Tree's light in the egg. After all it killed her already-hatched siblings, so while it was clear not having hatched yet spared her from the same fate, I wouldn't be surprised if it still caused some sort of damage prior to her birth. Edit: Lastly, while it seems Ori's story is over, I would be down to see more of this world that's been created. While I highly doubt they'd do this, perhaps they will continue the world's lore with Ori's first born (the leaf we see falling from their branches at the very end?)

Still difficult for me to see Shriek as an irredeemable villain. I would've been her friend. Additionally, at 49:48, you notice Ori holding Seir back before they can hurt Shriek again, indicating Ori didn't want to hurt her and tried to offer her friendship. Sadly, due to her past, she rejected the offer and we were given a sad ending for the little orphan.

Even though I haven't played the game, it actually broke my heart when Ori had to take the spirit tree's place, but there wasn't anything he could do. Thank you for recording these, X-cage. Very, VERY much. If we met IRL, I would give you a big hug.

This is already one of the best games I've ever played and I'm a few hours in. It improves on the Blind Forest in nearly every conceivable way which says a heck of a lot. The combat can be very challenging even early on but it is so rewarding when you defeat a boss or sub boss. This one likely isnt coming to any other platforms so I recommend getting an xbox for this and game pass. Well worth it. For a 2.5d platformer to be so good it should be a system seller is insane.

it doesnt have to reflect real life either. Yeah in the universe of Ori spirit trees lives are important to balance everything or decay will start spreading. But it doesnt matter anyways, Ori real important topics are about things like family or sacrifice, etc etc.

I think this will have a third part game because in the scene where Shriek is born, there is ANOTHER egg next to her, and it only appears in that scene and in the rest of the game it's GONE, so she must have a lost sibling.

1:02:09 i could've sworn this ending is trying to be like that 80s show "the world of david gnome"'s final episode, but then i saw this scene, and realized there's another spirit leaf flying away just like the first game. i wonder why? i thought this is just the last game as i heard.

Unpopular opinion but I dislike the ending, I wish we could’ve seen ori happy without his whole damn family getting murdered or tossed around by a natural disaster for once
