Organizing Your Paper Flow

Hey guys! I am so excited t finally have this post up for you all. Today, I am talking about organizing your paper flow. It feels like teachers are constantly being bombarded with paper after paper. Teachers are also expected to give their full attention to their students throughout the day while giving assessments, answering e-mails, attending meetings, and meeting with parents!
If you don’t have a system in place then you cannot expect to be focused and organized. I am happy to share 7 great tips that will get you started to feeling less stressed and more put together.

THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING I NEEDED!!! I've had such a hard time adjusting to teaching as a first year teacher and the paperwork just makes me angry. I left my desk on Friday a mess because I just couldn't deal with it anymore. Thank you for this video Bridget, it's going to save me come Monday!

I can't even begin to say how much this video helped. Your 43 folder system isn't something I can see myself doing but it did give me some ideas on systems that work for me. I love that you break down and plan out what you need to do daily, weekly, monthly it sounds so much less stressful than making a long to do list and only getting half done

Hi there. I have been teaching for nearly thirty years and I love your enthusiasm. ;) Everything you said was right on. Everyone needs their own ways of organizing and storing their paper flow. I still struggle with it, especially on those chaotic days when there are more interruptions than normal. I also wanted to let you know that the 43 file system has been around a very long time. Back when I was in the Army, in the early 1970's . they referred to it as a "tickler file," where you'd file letters, data or other things that you would need to "take action" on by a specific date. Just recently, I had a friend begin teaching kindergarten. I told her she just has to watch you to glean some great ideas. :) Keep up the great work! :)

Wow this was such a fantastic comment! I knew the system had been around a while but wasn't aware of exactly how long it had it been around. This was so fascinating!!! Thank you for spreading the word about my videos and I always feel like I am on the right track when veteran teachers leave sweet comments. Thank you again.... It means so much to me.

I am dying in disorganization. It took me 3 years aty last school to get it down... I had a para and more preps... And other grade level teachers to lean on. I am alone all day every day. I am trying to become a better more organized teacher. It is a struggle this year, I want to do the 43 folder system. I feel like I could do it after watching you.

  • @BridgingLiteracy

Hey! Yes! Green folders are progress folders. On one side of the folder it has grades for the standards that we are teaching for that nine weeks and on the opposite side it has their behavior progress for the week. It also shows any important events coming up within that nine weeks. This is sent home every Friday.
