I am a librarian, and everything I've learned says I should organize by author or topic, but I am also autistic and color and size organization makes me happy. Color is definitely a taxonomy that works, and it is interesting to see what books end up as neighbors. I think it is also a way to prevent some of problematic classification systems we see in libraries that marginalize some books, at least for our own personal collections.

I would love to do all my shelves rainbow, but I don’t have enough colourful books! I have got a rainbow kids book shelf though, it’s really cute. The rest of my books are simply sorted by vibes that might not even make sense to anyone else, but it’s till fun to see which books end up as neighbours 💗

The rainbow bookshelf debacle made me immediately think about the experience being neurodiverse… you do your bookshelf how you wanted and it’s different than everyone else but worked for you … and everyone else says NO WRONG why ick…. And you try to accommodate but it affects your experience and hurts you …. And you’re right, it’s your shelf, your room, your enjoyment. Love love how you set it up, so cozy!

This is exactly how I felt when I de-rainbowized my one bookshelf at the end of my bed. I'm still looking at the mess until this day and I kinda want to put in rainbow order again. It's not for the aesthetics, it's for the brain and it makes me happy!

I de-rainbowfied last year, it took me so long and I HATED it 😂 I started over immediately. It makes me so happy the way it is. I tend to remember the color of my books spines, it’s not too hard.

I loved that you tried something new that even though it didn’t work out, all that frustration allowed you to get to know yourself at little better. I love how it looks! I am a big fan of aesthetics and your bookshelves are aesthetically pleasing! Very cozy indeed 😅😊🩵🌻

The "floating" book stack is so awesome! I completely agree about other people's bookshelves - what works for other people doesn't have to work for me. Books are lovely to look at no matter how they're arranged. We just need to access our own books according to our own brain system.

I’m a fellow color organizer! I’m a visual guy, so when I think of a book I picture it-the color comes to mind before the author or genre, so it’s way easier for me to find stuff 🤷‍♀️ Plus the visual coordination makes my brain feel calm ☺️

This is the only channel that releases a new video, and I immediately stop what I am doing to sit down and watch. No multitasking at all! ❤

the struggle is real :)) I recently reorganized my bookshelves, but at the end I went with the color and size within the genre. I mean you have to feel cozy and at home and in tune with how your own brain perceives "order and beauty". I too think all books and settings are beautiful!

I got two more sweatshirts from your latest release. I have NEVER had more people start up conversations with me than I have with the Spoon sweatshirt. It’s absolutely wonderful and sparks people to dive in and do more of their own research when I talk about spoon theory. Thank you thank you! It’s not only a great for my learners to know they don’t need to “educate me” and can be real and raw if need be, but it’s helping to intrigue more neurotypicals to ask important questions. Loved this video although I haven’t finished it yet. Awesome video as always, I love watching them while crocheting or drawing and it always brings me joy and coziness. I read a small book recently called "The tale of Despereaux", I used to watch the movie as a kid I remember loving it, when I discovered it was originally a book I jumped on it and finished it in a day. It became my favorite cozy book of all time and I strongly recommend it to anyone who's reading this comment and likes this kind of genre. Yet I didn't find anybody who knew this story and I'll be thrilled to talk about it with someone or at least share my love for this book ^^

This video was so validating for me. I have been feeling like I need to rearrange my rainbow/size organized book shelf in my living room because people keep commenting about how hard it must be for me to find specific books, but the thought has always made me feel uncomfortable. Your finished shelves are so soothing to look at, and I'm happy to leave my shelf as it is.

I currently don't have the space for proper bookshelves, so it's nice to get the satisfaction of organizing books through your video! And I love your rainbow shelves. I don't think it would work for me, but it looks so satisfying. (And I mean, who came up with the stupid idea that (private) bookshelves have to be efficient?? Even if I have to spend some time looking for a certain book, that's just more time I spend looking at my books, which will always make me happy.)

I was so happy that you stuck with the rainbow. I sometimes forget book/author names so would be stuck if I had them A-Z, but I can usually remember the colour of the book I am looking for. I think it is good to have mixed organisation though so some rainbowed, some by genre and love the idea of a shelf of favourites. My books are in a mess and I am hoping to get some new shelves this year.

when I moved to my own place and got one of these same Ikea bookshelves, I organized the books by author… until I realized I didn’t know any author names 😅 But I DO know the colors of the covers!!! Rainbow forever!

I saw that you have some Terry Pratchett books in your tbr shelf, can I suggest that you start with Guards! Guards! ? You can read it as a stand-alone book but it's also a perfect introduction if you want to read more Discworld/Night watch series. I think you will enjoy it!

I personally am only satisfied if my books are in color order. I got the same Ikea shelves as you because I loved them in your videos and one is for cool toned books while the other is for warm toned books. With one shelf that is for rainbow order graphic novels. It is the most pleasing and calming way for me to organize things. Plus it’s fun to add to my rainbow!

My autistic superpower is keeping the library where I work organized and knowing what book someone needs. I try to channel nerdy, but not spooky creepy. I can walk around once and know if anything is new or out of place. I feel your pleasure but also distress reorganizing. The struggle is real.
