This is so timely, helpful, and inspo for me this time of year with my wardrobe. I would never fill those holes so you always have the flexibility to change it as needed.

Don’t wood fill they do the tiny plugs for the holes that match the colour and means you can still have flexibility with your shelves

You can get pool noodles and cut them in half for your boots. They work great! And ikea makes little dot fillers for your wardrobe. They do the job as they cover the holes, but if need be you can still switch them out and rearrange your shelves.

BTW IKEA have removable wardrobe filler to give you that seamless look but also give u the option of changing things around
