I just thought this footage was too cute to keep to myself - so I'm publishing it as it happened. The next film will be sharing ideas for choosing the hen and creating the nest site.

Aww thanks so much for your comments - they are great and appreciated as always. I'm uploading my next episode in a few hours. I've had a right old time with these quail chicks, which has been a tad traumatic for us but I think it will be useful to share, as this is not an easy exercise and I was so lucky in the past. I meant to upload on a regular basis throughout July but I just had time to film, we even had to create a baby quail ICU, which again I think is useful to share. I thought everything was fine, so started editing today when Andy came in with one of the chicks who had come up to him in the garden - he had escaped through a hole a rat had gnawed through the quail run wall overnight and which I had completely missed. The weather is so dry and food so scarce that the local rats must be getting desperate! It's certainly never a dull moment with quail chicks but I think I need a holiday! All the very best, Sue xx

Hi there and thank you so much for your lovely comments - they are appreciated. I sort of stay away from social media. I don't actually find it congenial, maybe because so much of it is sponsored in the poultry domain by BigPharma/BigFarmer and anyone who is not in that club tends to be sidelined or worse. I actually did like Google + - there were some great quail groups on there and I miss seeing the posts from the brilliant quail keepers. However, please do feel free to post my stuff wherever you feel you would like to. I am on Bitchute: www.bitchute.com/accounts/referral/pavlovafowl/ and I am also on Tumblr: www.tumblr.com/blog/view/forest-garden-poultry but that's about it. Thanks so much for thinking of me though, I do appreciate it and I know my viewing figures aren't great but I have quality people like yourself! Much love, Sue xxx

Me too! Someone should make a cd of the soft chirping sounds. Originally quail were kept in ancient China for their calming voices and there were in Japan 'singing quail' but the whole of them were apparently wiped out in WW2. One of my goals is to get them to find their voices. I don't know if your saw the video of my mother quail calling to her chicks but she makes the most amazing sounds - barking and whooping/whistling - not exactly singing but it's a start! All the very best, Sue xx

Hi Gina! Lovely to hear from you! You take care and wishing you all the very best with your recovery. I did something to my knee last year - it made a horrible grating sound when I knelt down to put wood on the fire, not sure what it was but it is getting better. I keep going in the sea with it even in the Winter and that seems to do it good, I also upped my collagen - bone broth, offal and seafood, plus seasonal fruit eaten out in the sun - it seems to have worked, so fingers crossed. Sending you a BIG DIGITAL HUG from Normandie and one from the quail too! Much Love Sue xx
