Resolved: In the United States, the benefits of increasing organic agriculture outweigh the harms.

------------NOTES & CORRECTIONS-------------------
1. Chlorpyrifos is banned by the EPA: www.epa.gov/ingredients-used-...
2. The natural Aff frame is organic vs. conventional farming. While speed-researching this topic, I was pulled into the opposite for Neg-- conventional vs. organic. My conversation with Dave Colson last week (president of the Organic Farmer's Association; also available on this channel) helped to clarify what's likely a much better frame for Neg: more "USDA organic" vs. more /other/ kinds of farming. It seems, in other words, that USDA-regulated organic farming propagates much of the issues inherent in our system at large-- most glaringly, animal cruelty-- and, in addition, an increase in organic farming could displace an increase in some even better systems of agriculture.

Organic doesn’t equate to better, and I say that as an organic producer. The key is to be regenerative. Our soils will run out of steam eventually, but we can, and are stoping this process through better tillage practices. We have a long way to go, their are more steps to take. Their is not a silver bullet, or a decree that can be made to solve the crisis. It’s a natural, progressive process that can provide better yields with no, or extremely low synthetic inputs. I can hammer out some big yields per growing season, but corn for example, takes a lot off the land. I’m not going to grow that on the same ground every other year. I’m going to add a year of a cereal grain that over winters and gets harvested during the summer, not the fall, leaving time for cover crops to rebuild the soil and feed the microbes under the ground with root exidents. I have to be really honest with you, 80% of the farms, whether family or corporate can do what I do. I’m not smarter, I’m obsessed. You have to really be all in and willing to spend a lot more time walking your fields than riding in them. Just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents. It’s a lack of knowledge that keeps regenerative, and regenerative organic farming from being better. It’s not that it’s a defective concept.

Hey i have a argument i want to run but my partner is a bit skeptical. I think it's an amazing route for pro. I found some cards that talks about how organic agriculture provided a better crop yield, and better water sustainabiltity than its conventional counterparts in drought ridden areas. I think i could run a pro case that said that an increase in org ag in drought areas is beneficial. My partner is skeptical of it, is her skepticism warranted?

It sounds good but quite stock. Your opponents will likely have rebuttals ready for it! You could combine it with climate change-- orgo agri can I. Help to stop climate change and II. Help us adapt to climate change

Chlorpyrifos was banned in the U.S though wasn't it? Is there a reason why you mentioned it regardless that I'm missing? Are you saying we could argue that other pesticides could be like chlorpyrifos considering it was just banned? Good video though thanks as always!!
