They both die at 79 years old. After watching a series of Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff videos this one pops up, and I'm thinking; all my favorite organist that I worshipped as a kid organist growing up, are gone; Smith, Holmes¡ Earland, Shirley Scott, McGriff and I think well only Dr. LONNIE is left. Out of curiosity I google the age of Lonnie Smith and I see he passed 3 months ago....and I go numb. We were so fortunate to grow up with these REAL TRUE SUPERSTARS of REAL MUSIC. May they all RIP. Can you imagine the Jam session now with all these greats, in the great beyond.

We don’t hear this in a Live Concert Format so what a blessing! I agree with the others I miss McDuff Smith Holmes Patterson Patton et. al. The B3 is so versatile all those Drawbars can create miracles. The new Dr. Lonnie has a great version of Sunshine 19:30 Superman on it. My favorite besides Smith was Don Patterson he was wicked and fast. Charles Earland’s version of Pat Uptons ( More Today Than Yesterday) rocked like a runaway Steam Train. Joey DeFrancisco is gone as well. These are the guys that brought us a whole new genre of Jazz. We are so fortunate to have so many Performances and Music Recorded. We still have Scary Goldings the Guy from Naican,Organisimo, and Medeski M&Wood. I really appreciate your comment!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Jackie's career was overshadowed by Jr Walker and so many others, but if you spent any time in the Bay Area, hopefully, you stumbled into Jack's and caught Jackie, Henry, Eddie, and Chuck, throwing down standards as if they were theirs. Jackie playing that hotrodded B3 effortlessly, smoothly, never overplaying, and just when you thought you had him figured out, BAM!, he'd drop in a sneaky fill that would grab everything inside of your body, pulling deep into that tight pocket he always played in. I loved Jackie. Chomping sticks of Big Red, kicking the pedals, and always unassuming, kindly to everyone. Jackie taught me tons about playing live music. I miss him. Jackie left the world a better place.

@@marmcgriff1 Thank you Margaret. I'm loving watching this video. I had so much fun at organ summits with Jimmy, Dr. Lonnie, Groove, Jack and all the others when I played with Charles Earland in the 90's. They all sound so great. Wonderful music!

Fine player. It's sad that he's in that cult and wears a diaper on his head. Here is how to be saved "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) "The wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and ... he was buried, and ... he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." (I Corinthians 15:3-4) "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31) "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life." (John 3:36)

Dr. Lonnie is fine.........What is "sad" (REALLY SAD) is your jumping on here and spreading toxic judgement, like a poisonous venom into the body of Christ/Humanity. Christ would spew you out in a heartbeat with bringing that sort of self-righteous judgement into his midst. My perspective in saying that is as a 45 year minister, with Doctorate. Also, as someone who has played music 50+ years including Jazz like this but also with many Gospel groups, choirs, records, etc. This world has enough hate-filled divisions already.........use your God-given free-will for something other than adding to that.......maybe something that is more in line with all the scripture you quoted but then turn around and act as a lip-service only "Christian".
