Oregon Raceway Park, Aug 10th, 1 Lap & Crash

Attended Motofit track day event Aug 10-11th (Blue Group). This is the first time at this track and was starting to get the hang of the track by the end of the day until I made an error on turn 2. I picked the throttle up way before the apex and washed the front end out and lowsided. The bike was fine besides some minor scratching and bent front and rear brake levers which was able to be repaired.

    Sorry for your damage, glad it wasn't too bad and most importantly that you seem to be ok! I have been to that track my first time in 2019 as well. Yes your front washed out. I'm by no means a super fast or experienced track rider, but it helps me to trail brake into every corner, so the front tire is loaded and has therefore more contact patch and sticks. Every corner is different and sometimes you release the brake before or just after the apex and then roll on the throttle sloooowly. (Recommend listen to Ken Hills Podcasts on cornering trailbraking and all the other good stuff) Turn 2 is mostly taken with riding over the concrete, which seemed weird at first but it works super well. I hope you will be enjoying 2020 trackdays :) Have you been to The Ridge?

    Yeah I walked away and with minor damage to the bike. I was able to ride the next day. That was my first time at ORP and I got a ahead of myself and made a stupid error. I read/listen to a lot of Ken Hill's and YCRS's material for riding technique along with Dave Moss for suspension setup. Last year was my first full track season year so there was a big learning curve. Yes I have been to The Ridge, I was actually just there for the first event with Optimum a couple weeks ago, it's a awesome track! Thanks for the comment and maybe I'll see you at the track, ride safe!

    @@tutter8531 Neat, yes I hope to see you around. You said you have a 600? Will probably go to the Ridge on the 22nd June in most likely in Level2 group. And hopefully a few other trackdays this year ... Still working on my bike to get ready :)

    I am going to try and attend the 22nd, if not I'll probably do July 4th & 5th (finance dependant). If you're on IG the link to my profile is in the "About" tab here on KZread, we can chat a little easier on there. I don't currently have a 600 but hopefully will soon.

    Hey mate what was the cause of the low side?

  • @tutter8531

    @tutter8531

    4 жыл бұрын

    The low side was caused by me getting on the throttle too hard at full lean and before the apex causing the front to lose contact and wash out. A stupid mistake caused by me impatient haha.

    No it was at a track in New Jersey and I had to much lean angle for a low speed turn and just washed out.

    Ich hoffe, ich habe die Übersetzung und Antwort auf Ihren Kommentar korrekt erhalten. Der Grund, warum ich zusammengebrochen bin, war, dass ich zu schnell zu viel Gas gegeben habe, während sich das Motorrad zu weit nach vorne gebeugt hat, wodurch der Vorderreifen angehoben und herausgerutscht ist.

    Das sieht eher nach einem zu kalten Reifen aus. Tyre temperature........ You drive smooth and have not to much gas out of the corner. Tyre to coold or an terryble Tyre.

    @@dirkkaiser7907 Dies war gegen Ende der Sitzung, so dass die Reifen auf Temperatur waren und der Druck korrekt war. Pirelli SuperCorsa V2 mit weniger als 1 km. Wenn Sie sich den Armaturenbrett in der rechten Ecke genau ansehen, können Sie sehen, wo ich früh und abgehackt vor dem Scheitelpunkt Gas gegeben habe, während ich immer noch magerer wurde. Die Ecke hat auch einige Unebenheiten. Eine weitere Information ist, dass ich an diesem Tag meine Gabeln 5 mm nach vorne abgesenkt hatte, um bei Übergängen zu helfen, aber festgestellt habe, dass die Vorderseite dadurch leichter wurde, aber noch nicht zurück geändert wurde, weil ich auch ein paar andere Dinge ausprobiert habe. Hoffentlich gibt das mehr Details darüber, was passiert ist. Es war jedoch unerwartet und dies ist nur meine Analyse basierend auf dem Verlauf des Tages und mehreren Ereignissen auf dieser Strecke seitdem. Hoffentlich ist meine Übersetzung korrekt und Kommentare sind immer willkommen This was towards the end of the session so the tires were up to temp and pressures were correct. Pirelli SuperCorsa V2 with less than 1k km. If you look closely at the dash in the right corner you can see where I went to the throttle early and choppy before the apex while still increasing lean. The corner also has some bumps as well. another piece of information is I had lowered my forks 5mm in the front that day to help with transitions but found it made the front lighter throughout but had not changed it back yet because I was trying a few other things as well. Hopefully that gives some more details into what happened. It was unexpected though and this is just my analysis based on how the day was going, and multiple events at that track since then. Hopefully my translation is accurate and comments are always welcome
