Oregon Coast Fishing For Rockfish ~ Searching For New Fishing Spots Along The Oregon Coast

Спорт

I got to experience a bit of it all, from rock fishing from shore on the beach to rock fishing from rocks and cliffs, the knowledge I'm gaining along the way is priceless and the experiences gained will never be forgotten. As I travel along hwy 101 I am always in search of new Boondocking areas with great views and fishing opportunities.
I started the morning with a pretty scary situation and almost lost myself and some gear to the ocean, but all ended well and here I am, a wiser person.
I always fish from the jetty when I target rockfish like black bass, kelp greenling, rock greenling, and Lingcod, but I decided that I needed to step out of my comfort zone and expand my fishing game. This was probably one of the best moves I could have made.
This trip turned into an amazing day of fishing in some amazing places, some of which were pretty sketchy to get to.
Though I was casting swimbaits for lingcod or some other rockfish, my successful rig for the day was the high low rig. I was using nightcrawlers and some bacon as well...... I had to try it.
Ive never had to put in so much work to catch rockfish, but this isn't a jetty, so really I have no clue what I'm doing.
After a lot of lost gear I was able to catch a couple of fish, the first one being to cool looking to keep, so I threw that one back. I'm not 100% of what it was since I'm not super experienced in the salt water fishing game, though I am learning.
If you watched the video, Thank You. If you haven't watched it yet, what are you doing?!?! GO CHECK IT OUT, I THINK YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Why would 6 people thumb this down (73 thumbs up as I type this)? I have my own YT channel and I have observed on my own channel and other channels about 10% of people who rate videos thumb them down. Are there really 10% of people who are just flat out jerks?

Dude your videos are so great. They have a mixture of everything from explanations to cooking to catching the fish and I really appreciate how you don't assume everyone watching you is a pro. The little explanation at 12:00 is so helpful for newer anglers like me. Keep up the quality content!

I love fishing for salmon and steelhead, but being able to come out here and explore like this is way more of an adventure. That quick dropper loop rig will definitely keep you in the water longer which always helps improve the chances.

MrBuRnS I feel pretty comfortable on the jetty. It’s not often that I don’t catch fish. Getting out and exploring new areas was pretty amazing. I lost more gear than normal and caught less fish, but I had a lot of fun seeing what else is out there. Now I have something I can build off of and hopefully get better at finding fish away from the jetties.
