What a beautiful day and age. The 70s to the early 2000s were the best. The beginning of the end. From 2008 or so to now.....done.

I’ve been looking for the VERY FIRST Oreck Infomercial which I used to watch as a kid but I never saw the beginning of this infomercial. Thanks!

I took the Oreck challenge for $20 at a local flee market. I bought a like new 2021 model in black that still have the manual and the original receipt. It originally sold for $500 and it came with the canister vacuum as a set. It works great and is so easy to use that I don't want to use anything else.

The current model of this older version is now called the oreck elevate control. Uses same motor, same impeller fan, same brush roll. Still weighs 8 pounds(with cord unwrapped) the classic version is more base model with no headlight, no nice ergonomic handle, no switch in handle, shorter cord. So check out the oreck elevate control. It’s the direct replacement to this white 40th anniversary edition which was model 3600.

The Oreck XL Commercial vac still made is basically the same minus the two speeds and the headlight. Doesn’t have the bag dock bracket out of the box, it’s an older design, but that can be added on also

Other than being so light, I never understood what it's appeal was. The suction was very poor compared to other vacuums. It's works ok on light carpet and bare floors, but performed extremely poorly on thick carpet. This vacuum does a very poor job deep cleaning and is inferior to almost any vacuum even in the $50 to $100 price range in terms of agitation and suction power. In addition it clogs very easily, supposedly the belts didn't last very long, and is known to be among one of the louder vacuums.
