The colour is called duck egg blue, which is a pale green colour. A great favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, which is why the King probably chose it.

I was expecting the order to be in green to underscore the King's connection with environmental issues. I was very surprised to see the order described as blue, although I think that it is very much a borderline shade. Maybe it's because I was expecting green, but I would still call it green. I read something about wanting to make the ribbon similar to George V's ribbon. I think it would have made more sense to make the ribbon more clearly distinct from that older ribbon, even though there are no living holders of that older order. I would have loved to see a deeper, clearer green, while avoiding a shade that might be confused with an identification with Ireland. I guess it's too late now.
I think the new order is besutuful. I will happy to see Catherine, Princess of Wales wearing it.
