I use a combination of lava rock, charcoal and styrofoam. I have about 50 phals and they do really well for me. NEVER thought I could grow orchids! But I have been pleasantly surprised! And 5yrs later I have learned alot about what to do and not do😁 Your channel has been very instrumental in helping me grow them successfully❤😊👍Anyone who loves growing plants should try their hand w at least one orchid! It's addicting lol

Ice cubes!😂😂❤. I used to think lightly spraying or misting was good enough to provide humidity though. When I realized how dry it really is in my house, using a hygrometer to measure, that was my newbie game changer.😊. How many other terrible things were they putting up with then…and, it turned out to be, a lot. 🙀(Luckily, I had really very few.)🤔 When I started to gather everything I needed to produce better results, that’s when my growing became fun and much more productive. I lost a few to my own growing pains and still do some pretty silly things, but I think I mostly have my major kinks worked out. 🤞🏻Last year, when I started this hobby, I only wanted to acquire a few orchids and keep them alive for a year. It hasn’t been quite a year, but 50+ orchids later, with a favorite genus or two, I am doing ok with that. Now, I am fine tuning what I know about lights and nutrients and finally have the proper ventilation to all my growing areas, so I am ready to really dig into some research so they will live happily ever after and thrive in my environment. I have even assembled a few of my own plant stands.🤗🪛 If I could only convince myself to let go of the failures and not feel the need to replace everything….but they were such nice plants, and compared to how many I have now it will just be a few more…😂😂🤣 this truly is the descent into orchid madness, isn’t it? Well, I appreciate the help and tutorials! You are a tremendous inspiration. Thank you so much for everything.💯🤗👍❤️🪴👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you so much , and wow only been a year at it . You are doing incredibly well then . I have been with orchids for over 25 years now lol and I still get things wrong 😉and assembling you own plant stands is the way to go that way you can adjust them to what you need and not the other way around . 💯👍 I still have some of the very first original orchid we got that got us hooked . And I am so glad I have this obsession as opposed to some others 🤣🤣🤣

@@thenaturecompany I’m loving the option of you tube education -although it’s not always the best. I have probably watched 100k hrs, it feels like, to find reliable people who are dedicated enough and readily share good information. There is so much to learn and it’s easy to get side tracked, but having success with just one orchid is all it seems to take. Gaining confidence is as much a challenge sometimes. When I feel a little shaky, I just dig a little deeper and realize there is an answer to what I’m struggling with, and I’ll find it if I’m patient enough. Your channel up is a big help. 🤩😎💯🪴👍
