Orbea D30 1x - How long will the battery last on full assist?

Спорт

In this video I ride my new Orbea D30 1X on the highest level of assistance for an entire 25 mile ride to see how much the battery level diminished. The ride was fairly flat. I will tackle some hills in future videos.

    Hi, I have M30 1X. I do a lot of climbing and battery drains quickly on ascent. I would say, 25miles + 4,500ft of elevation gain was the best I could do with full charge. I had to try to save the battery wherever possible. Eventually, I got tired of worrying about remaining battery, so I bought X35 range extender. It was a bit costly ($550 plus tax) but was a great upgrade! I even thought the Mahle X35 system was designed to work with two batteries. Range extender is not a simple battery, but is an intelligent battery which will maxmize the perfromance when connected with the primary battery. Now I (almost) stop worrying about remaining battery.

    I used to get range anxiety but have found as the Mahle system adds minimal drag and only a few kg to the bike it is very rideable with no assistance. Now on longer rides I tend to use a dialed down level 1 when my legs are fresh and save the assistance for later in the ride for when legs tired or for a climb. Find it a very flexible system. Have noticed much less range when colder in the winter.

    Good day Darrel, like you, I have just started riding an e bike and have bought new tools for it. I had a small pump like yours and I looked at the size of the tyres (27.5 rims with 2.5 tyres) and went with a rechargeable electric pump, much better idea I thought🚲🚲🙂

    just got a trek domane+, first ride was 37km with the first half of the ride mostly climbing 5% to 10% grade (51m, 91m, 114m up to 121m in succession in a span of 16km) assist was set on lowest default setting, engaging only at the start of the climb, disengaging at the peaks. started with 98% battery, came back with 87%... the number of stops to rest reduced by half and am not very exhausted unlike when I rode a similar 14kg non-ebike... makes me want to ride longer....

    Hi I have got same bike with shimano 105 always I used full assist. About range doing a lot of climbing I can reach 30 to 40 miles, in flat roads easily 80 miles and back home with battery. I did last year about 170 rides with the gain an after 120 130 rides the range of the bike went down.

My question to you is how the aluminum frame is for comfort compared to the carbon frames. The only aluminum frames I have had were in the '90's when they were real harsh. Thanks again for the video. Hi Darryl, thank you for the videos and for showing the features of the D30 1x. Do you know how this bike compares with the D50? Say, fitting the D50 with gravel tyres would it make it similar to the D30 1x? I presume the gears would be significantly different. Thanks again. Ulises

    Also, I live in Australia and we need to drink lots of water. The bike has a spot for the extra battery which in Australia would be for the second bottle, so there goes the second bottle holder. Also I am very short and can’t fit a saddle between the seat and the wheel frame as the light is there etc. so once again a problem. The electrics won’t work Lights if the motor isn’t turned on I believe and I often go out in the dark, thought of a saddle bag like yours but having the small frame I would have trouble getting to the one and only drink, with it there . Problems all around

  • @Rockinbiker1946

    Nice bike but Orbea has those two "problems", rear light placement and power button on the top tube. My LOOK e-765 doesn't have those with a moveable rear light that can be removed and a power controller on the bars. Here in the US our limit on assist is 20MPH.

  • @omcycling

    @omcycling

    Жыл бұрын

    I would say the rear light is inconvenient and the Orbea computer can control the power and be places on the bars. A higher speed would be nice.

    Can’t see the point of using an e bike, with such a low level of assist, especially with all the extra weight of the bike, I would prefer to ride a ordinary bike, which would have a much better feel to it, because it is half the weight

    I have watched a few of your videos now and enjoyed them, particularly those that focus on your e-bike, however, I think it is vital to include some idea of the terrain/hilliness you are riding on. The biggest single factor affecting e=bike battery performance is the hilliness or otherwise of the ride. Without that information any findings are, frankly, meaningless.
