Wow, I did not know until now that the Japanese consoles didn't have a barcode serial number on the bottom! I own a Japanese GC and figured it was just missing the serial number because someone at one point pulled it off.

I remember getting my GameCube at goodwill for $20 and it still works perfectly! I saw them at lots of garage sales for like $10 but never bothered to get another one. Now that they are worth like $60+ now, I wish I would have gotten a couple for backups. I don’t really like playing GameCube games on the Wii though. The GameCube has the ports in the front and is more convenient to play. With the Wii, you have to aim your Wiimote to even start the game. I have a Wii as well, but only play GameCube on GameCube console. Also I don’t like how expensive GameCube games are becoming. I prefer to get games on GameCube vs. PS2, because I like the GameCube better and I don’t really know, just better on GameCube. GameCube games are twice more than the PS2 version on EBay and it is annoying to pay so much more, just because I would rather have it for the GameCube. Great video and very Imformative!

I feel the same i just dont like the ps2 near as much as the gamecube or even the OG xbox so i wanna play it on the gamecube but that crap is just really expensive on it

i miss when nintendo gave us many color options to choose from out of there consoles now adays they only give us 2 black or white or black red or blue?

I just bought an orange spice GameCube this week! A few Japanese games are in the mail. I plan on modding it to be region free and am considering sending it to these guys in the UK who do HDMI mods for GameCube.

I live in Japan and the last time I visited the U.S. I brought back an orange GameCube and was able to trade it for a ton of Sega Genesis and CD games. The trade worked out pretty well for both of us considering they're dirt cheap here.

I like seeing these different console colors and variants. They are very interesting to me.

I think this is the first video when you suggested another KZreadr I already know XD LukeMorse1 is a great channel. I really like the Orange GC, I always found most of the other colors kind of dull, I love how much it stands out. That said, im still praying for the day I come across a Gundam GC for a decent price.

I remember seeing one of these in a magazine back in the day, but could never find one. Now I know why. Looking forward to more of these.

Adam, The group at BadAss Consoles have announced plans to release an adapter for the GameCube called the CGVideo Plug N Play. It basically goes into the Digital AV port (and I assume the Analog AV port) and allows you connect either a HDMI or the much more affordable Wii component cables into the device and allow you to output through those. It's essentially a cheaper alternative to official GameCube cables. What are your thoughts on that?

I JUST bought an Orange Spice GameCube, modded for US games. Hoping to get a decent Digital AV to HDMI converter and mod it soon. And yeah, looking on FB Marketplace and other websites, GameCubes seem to be becoming more popular again, or at least their perceived value is increasing.

Very cool, orange and gray were my high school colors. I just have the black GameCube, which is kinda boring. Keep the variant videos coming, they're great.

Do you have enough generic Gamecubes (meaning not the Panasonic one) to equate the current value of the component cables? I'd like to see that comparison side by side. Just a big fucking stack of those things next to a small cable. Since you mentioned modding, have you heard of the GCVideo project?

Did the US get the Resident Evil Version? I have the UK pal version and has the digital av port, on the box it says limited edition but they seem to be fairly common here in the UK.

I also have the silver Pokemon XD console that you mentioned.

I got my hands on a few of the NR reader gamecubes a few months back. Stripped the innards out of one of them and replaced them with standard gamecube guts just because I think the green of the NR readers is sweet.

I got the silver resi evil 4 cube here in uk. did you get that in usa? not much difference apart from the logo on pad and circle faceplate....and lovely artwork on box of console ...

I found an orange GC controller in the glass case at a thrift store - might have been left behind from a batch of GC stuff, asked if it was for sale, and found some controllers they had at the electronics rack for a price comparison and ended up getting it for $3. Definitely my favourite GC controller (even compared to the wavebirds) as the colour is just striking (it's in really good shape too). Would be cool to have an orange (or "spice") GC (especially for imports).

Nice to know about the silver Gamecube. I bought a silver one last year to replace the one I had as a kid and it has both ports. :)

Off Topic: For a long long time I thought Adam use to say "I'll figure it out!" but only recently I actually payed attention and realised it was "figure it out!". Having that context is makes things so much clearer, I was always like wth why does he say that? xD

I have the spice orange GCN controller - it's my favorite, with the wavebird being a close second.

I imported my purple gamecube when it launched in japan like, immediately. I have since also acquired a pal launch one in black that has the digital av out, and a later silver pal model without it. I was aware of the orange one as the guy who imported mine and I got my games from had them when they came out there and it did look cool. Also got a japanese only spice orange GBA from him.

weirdest thing about the GameCube has to be the handle. I mean how often do you carry a console? surely not often enough to warrant a bolted on carrying implement? mad. love it tho.

I actually used it a lot back when I was like 9 or 10 sometimes my parents would drop me off at my Grandma's house for babay sitting. And I just carry the GameCube by the handle. I mean that's what I thought it was meant for

Another interesting variant of the GameCube is the first few batches that were made in Japan. Only the first few batches were made in Japan, I think in early 2002 production was moved to China.

Similar to the Dreamcast. Early models were completely made in Japan. Later ones have parts from China and Indonesia.

The Spice Gamecube is my favorite! I just got one recently.

If i can secure replacement parts inexpensively enough (mainly screws and a couple buttons, then I would want to get one of these orange ones to match my flat orange controller, but I would need to get that controller fixed first. Btw, if anyone knows where I can order m5x1cm triwing™ screws in quantities of about 20 or so, please let me know. Smallest quantity I've found are 200, which is 10x more than I need to fix all my Nintendo items.

Yes i already have a Gamecube compatible Wii. But im still so tempted to go buy a Gamecube. Originally I had the silver Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness special edition Gamecube. But then my sister took it when she moved out. So i bought a Wii at the time to keep playing my Gamecube collection.

I was originally going to buy this with the game boy player, but fortunately I bought the Tales of Symphonia mint green GameCube with the game boy player instead. and for a good price :)

Love the GameCube I'm going for a full set. I have 10 variants so far. Not entirely sure how many models there are. I think it's 15.

In your latest playload you asked about Australian only games. Not that this is a game, but Australia is the only non-Japan country to get the purple Game Boy Player.

+JoshKall Plays Australia and New Zealand were the only countries that got the Pink Slim PS2 outside of Asia. I have heard of people claiming the Orange Spice Gamecube came out in PAL in Australia only but I have never seen one.

Is also a japan only Hoshin Tigers one (not sure on the name lol) it was white with red stripes all over it I think.

Yeah, that's the European one. There's a Japanese pearl white one. That one is rare as hell.

The orange Gamecube is sexy af. Black, or grey consoles bore me out of my mind. The first thing I do when I buy a new console is to order custom skins. My Xbox One looks like an old VCR player with it's wood grain skin. It's amazing.

I love my price orange gamecube. Don't like how it lacks the digital port but then again I dont use it at all. Svideo out to a projector looks pretty damn crystal clear. More so than component to a tv.

This was the colour I wanted back in the day. I got tired of waiting for an announcement, so I went for the silver one, bundled with Wind Waker and Ocarina. My console has the digital port but eh, it's a PAL model so I suppose it doesn't really make a difference. I've never seen the white one here. Some of the "limited edition" models were just the game logo on top of the system instead of the regular one. Not terribly exciting.

I just scored a free gamecube a month or so ago that was in terrible shape. The console was super dirty , couldn't read discs, and the buttons were all sticking, disc tray wouldn't even close. I fixed most of it by giving it a good clean but I had to increase laser power and re-cap the board for it to read discs but I picoboot mooded it and planned on using an SD card loader via. SP2 anyways. The buttons are in rough hsape and look like an animal gnawed on them. possibility since the console was in someones attic for about 10 years. I thought about reshelling it at somepoint. Kinda stinks the aftermarket consoles don't have some of the special colors like the tales of symphonia teal I'd totally go with a replica shell of that color but I like the orange spice too.

I personally love the Spice Orange Gamecube, I got the controller for Christmas around the Gamecube's launch here in Canada and was always drawn to it, as a kid I found it strange I never seen a matching console around. I've thought about importing one over the years just to swap the internals with a NTSC console, can't really justify the cost at this point though, I think I've waited too long.

Do a video on the Panasonic Q GameCube.

So the story that I heard at my retro gaming store is that they were going to release the orange space with Metroid prime 1, And it was going to be a special bundle that was only going to be available at Kmart. This deal fell through when Kmart went bankrupt and none of the other big chains picked it up. They had already made a surplus Of orange controllers, hence why you can still find them in the US.

the only 2 gamecubes I own are the silver with both ports on the back and a spice orange! Kinda lucky lol

My Silver Gamecube has the digital output, I had no idea Nintendo stopped producing consoles with them in.

I think there the original game cubes then Nintendo used the updated GameCube from 2005 older ones are from 2001

Love the spice orange gamecube my favorite next to the gundam gamecube, I personally own spice orange,pearl white, resident evil 4 edition (which is silver) ,black , indigo and i have a custom blue one. But yeah seem to be creeping up in price now

2:01 funny story, so i bought a gamecube that ended up costing me $82.01 (system, cables, controller, memory card (64 MB), and game). It was a silver gamecube and i was lucky enough to get the early version with the digital AV out and the expansion port. So i feel lucky for getting that version

Would have been cool if there was a gold zelda themed cube. I rock the silver cube and just had a silver gameboy player imported from japan to keep it all matching.

I got the black GameCube for Christmas 2001 along with Luigi's Mansion. But in 2004 my fucking little brother pulled on the controller and caused it to fall to the floor which somehow fucked up the systems disc reader. Thankfully my older cousin had a silver one that he just gave to me cause he didn't really play it. Still have it today and it still works.
