Was convinced for so long that the chorus and indeed the bands name were inspired by The O Jays Used To Be My Girl. I never got to ask Edwyn so I’m happy to remain convinced I was right ♥️

song in a nutt shell

It has always been 'fashionable' to praise the Orange Juice. Shades of Bearsdenite Nite middle class back up. The freedom they had to explore the UK quintessential independent music scene with their state of the art back up and their high equipment. All tracks they did at Postcard were poorly developed but........the sound, their overall general presence was odd. Not visually live wise. At times they were smug yet conaptious with the then London music press. Arrogant, poor in their initial indie releases before they make their big break to Polydor. Then.... O J get better in the songwriting department. The 2nd LP to the business. The 3rd LP (from my point of view) with a 3rd wave of personell. The sex pistols drummer and the groovy bass player out of the brilliant all girl outfit The Slits. The 3rd LP "The Orange Juice" is helluva underated. Nico was being New York standoffish when Collins nervously played this beautiful song to her. She probably would have lived longer had she covered "In a Nutshell" . It may have been an omen had she covered it and got her off her tragic grade a habit........it was an audacious move in that Orange Juice met this beautiful woman of The Velvet Underground.
