Great video! Thanks for using a Precision Bass in this video. These amps sound so much better with a classic bass like a Precision than a clean modern bass.

I love how much each basses interaction with the amp changes things for me. I honestly couldn't choose a favorite here. They all sounded distinctly different, and the Fender combined the most qualities I liked, but the mids on the Ampeg were so sweet, and the Orange was oozing with character. Beautiful amps, and bass.

The Orange AD200B MKIII is my favorite by a wide margin. The Fender Super Bassman is my next favorite. I’m quite impressed with what I heard here. Oddly, the Ampeg SVT comes in third place for me. And I LOVE SVTs. I’ve owned two of them many years ago. I’m now saving up to buy an AD200B MKIII.

Holy shit thanks for this! And I was super surprised to like the Fender the best! Figured I'd like the Ampeg or Orange best.....nope! The Fender has a more versatile sound it seams! Like you can crank the preamp stage and get a grittier tone(like an Ampeg) or soften that preamp stage and get a cleaner tone so that your low end isn't rounded off by the saturation of the preamp tube! Now some like that tone, and it's great, but with less saturation you can go lower, as saturation rounds off your highs, and lows.....although it can be very pleasing to the ear!

Thanks for playing the Orange clean!!! I happened to encounter one in a music store in Iowa years ago driving home from a business trip. I was smitten by the clean, warm tone of it (through the 4x10 and 1x15 Orange cabinets). I briefly owned a '73 SVT. Bought it for $250 in semi-working condition, cleaned and serviced it and retubed the preamp and never really bonded with it. Never spent much time with Fender bass amps, but generally like the musicality of the Fender tone stack. My dream bass rig is an AD200B and a pair of Accugroove Tri115Ls. It'll never happen because I'm beyond my gigging days, but my much younger self still dreams about it!

that ampeg sounds best here, its because back then, tube amps had simple parts connections, you simply have raw, more responsive character, I would love a comparison with my modified 74´Bassman 135, which has little more compressed sound than Ampeg here and more bite, great videos.

IMO both the Orange & SB compare admirably vs the "Holy Grail" 70's SVT. They also have a MV for more OD at low volumes (which I like). However you can bridge both channels of the vintage SVT for more depth. What's also surprising is how the 4 tube Orange compares to the 6 tube 300 watt amps. It sounds just as "big" to my ears. Too bad it's over-priced IMO. I'd go w the Fender for the win, but don't sell the Bugera BVV 3000 short....

My first one broke two days of owning Sweetwater fixed it a month later it broke again. Sweetwater couldn’t fix it right so gave me a replacement than 4 months later that one broke the story goes on till my 2 year warranty was done. Cost me 500 dollars to fix the last time so sold it after. Now I’m using an svt it’s okay loved the orange sound better but the svt is not breaking that’s all that matters. (Knock on wood)

Well. I have an svt cl. And I use a dark glass b7k for my over drive. It bites for sure. But the break up isn’t really there without over drive in front of it. Last night I bought the orange 200b and wow! It breaks up crazy nice. Sounds great. The only thing with the 200b is that it doesn’t have as much head room as the svt cl. I play in a very heavy loud band. And the orange still does the trick. Hope that helps.

The two SVT's I've owned never broke up or got distorted unless I was driving them loud enough to get the cops called on me. They have a great full sound especially when teamed up with the 8X10. Its something you cannot reproduce with a pedal or at lower volumes. its the difference between driving a muscle car and a Prius.

The Super Bass man smokes the other 2 in versatility, and is louder than both of them too(especially the Orange) They all sound good, they all have a purpose, but the Ampeg and Fender are less expensive, and work in more situations. I've owned all 3. Still have the Fender Super Bassman. You can get an old SVT sound and the newer CL with the Fender SB. plus a overdrive/distortion channel, and classic Old Bass sound. Not close.
