Orang Utan Rehabilitation

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center is located 25km north of Sandakan, Sabah. It covers about 40 sq km of protected land of Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The world famous centre welcomes orphaned and confiscated orangutans for rehabilitation before returning them to forest life. The facility provides medical care for the young orangutans. Around 25 to 30 young orphaned orangutans are housed in the nurseries, in addition to those free in the reserve.

indapendant means sleeping out side the cage getting daily for the rest of its life while making more babies for the sanctuary theme parks and reality orangutan sanctuary TV series. They have monopolized cuteness. Could imagine letting them evolve with people instead this way.

My God these sanctuaries have all have thousands of babies. How can they be endangered? Only wild ones are cause these ones don't get counted and they never will.

2:13 lol _"It all depends on their survival skills"_ *[on-screen text]* While orang utan, dependent on supplemental food drops, meals off feeding platform. Truth is Sepilok orang utans, those still manageable or non-danger to tourists, are 100% utilitarian [for-profit eco tours] & totally reliant on daily food drops; and Those few who aren't, only rely on scavenging plant/fruit-life, just like their brethren maquace, outta fear of threat from area's dominate male

It's been proven that orphan orangutans need love from their caretakers to build confidence, which helps them in jungle school and their release back into the wild. They're attached to their mothers for 5 - 8 years and they need their surrogate mothers, the caretakers, to give them the same amount of affection. By withholding that, as mentioned at the end of the video, these orphans won't be as emotionally secure as they would've been otherwise. The BOS Foundation has caregivers that sleep with the babies until they're 2 years old and after that, even though they sleep in large cages overnight, they're still assigned regular surrogate moms. They rotate so the orphans don't only get attached to one person but they continually make the point that they give these orphans as much love and support as they can, which allows them to be confident and thrive

I wish I could give them an ice bucket challenge every morning to wake them up and I’d let them dry after 10am by covering them in honey and letting the animals of the jungle clean them off
