"Orality" vs Word-for-Word Bible Memory (w/ Dr. Larry Dinkins)
Those of us who memorize the Bible "word for word" often take for granted the fact that we grew up in a very literate culture. So what happens in a cross-cultural context that isn't as literate? Learn the key concepts of "orality" and how you can use it in your Scripture memory. Watch part 2 of this interview next! kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWGMrsysqsLNfcY.html

I believe that every follower of Jesus should dedicate at least a small portion of their week to Bible memory. And to prove that you can do more than you realize, I've made it a goal to memorize the entire New Testament before I turn 40. Well Ephesians 4:7- But to each one of us , grace was given according to the measure of Christ gift. The Holy Spirit has endowed some to memorize and preach word for word and others are gifted by way of ORALITY. Wherever you find yourself, thank God, they are all gifts of the Holy Spirit
Josh, thanks for sharing the interview with Dr. Larry Dinkins. I have memorized a few books in the New Testament and found it is difficult to share with others. This method is great! It can help us to share the Bible story to others during daily conversations, making the scripture memorization to be used in our daily life. I would like to use this method to memorize so that I can share the Bible story with my kids. 😊

Thought-provoking topic. I've never really dwelled upon this concept before. I love Dr. Dinkins' balance of faithfulness to the written Word, while making its communication practical for his mission field. Looking forward to Part 2.

People have different learning styles. Some people do best by reading instructions, some learn best by looking at the diagrams that usually come with instructions, some people learn best by show me, telling me how. Some people learn best with a combination of these. As a former teacher, I was supposed to teach to all these different learning styles. Sounds hard but it's not. I like the idea of stories. What an excellent way to learn for yourself and also to be able to share at a moments notice.

Humm the past few days I have been thinking about how I can share in a story form rather than scripture quotes. I know much of Bible translation includes a significant amount of story telling rather than word for word scripture translation.
