Really hear you. I cried so hard and didn’t speak for like two hours. I remember vividly the realization: “oh my god they’re going to kill them all”. A masterpiece. The show is flawless.

I've just ugly cried watching the finale 12 years after I ugly cried watching it for the first time. Can't believe how powerful the finale is. True art.

The finale 10 minutes of this show’s series finale is still to this day the most hauntingly beautiful thing I have ever seen on film. Masterpiece

I was maybe 2 years older than Claire's character when I first watched this show back in the early 2000s & it had a profound effect on my life. I rewatched it (the 1st time 🙂) when I was Nate's age in the show & it was like a whole new experience. I tell everyone it's the best show ever made. A complete work of art.

interesting. I first watched the series as a whole when I was also Claires age, and now I"m almost 33 and am *dying* to rewatch it. I have such a specific pleasant memory of the first viewing and I almost dont want to taint that. My best friend Kelly had become obsessed with SFU as her family had HBO and mine didnt. so when they came out with the DVD set, she bought them all (I bought Sex and the City lol) and after school on Fridays, we would walk to my house, pack the bong and watch another episode. It was so profound we would end up talking about it the rest of the weekend. Later on the Friday nights, we would start drinking and reenating scenes or drunk drawing portraits of the characters 😂 I still remember waiting to see the last episode, and I cried like a baby. There was a beautiful Oak tree outside my bedroom window. I sat on the bed next to it, with Kelly on the left side of me. This way the cigarette smoke could et caught in the wind and taken outside. the leaves all different colors, and the sun was setting on the Friday we watched the ending, it was around Thanksgiving/Christmas time at 4pm. Some things are just so perrfect, you just never forget. See why I dont know if I should rewatch them? lol xoxo

Until you're in your mid/late 30s or 40 like Nate was in the show. Especially with the fond memories you have of watching it with your friend ❤

This is the best TV show ever created in my opinion. I've watched it 10+ times. Seriously...and I still find so much beauty in the show and so many things that teach me about life + death.

Miss these guys. They were truly like family. Up to this day, no other show has hit harder on an emotional level than SFU.

There has never been more honest characters in a tv show..period. I love them for every beautiful flaw I see in myself. Probably changed my life. And I dare you to find a better ending to a show. Thank you Alan and cast for creating something truly remarkable.

Have you seen The Leftovers or The Haunting of Hill House? Very similar shows. Hill House was even inspired by Six Feet Under.

My favorite show of all time. I have watched it all 3 times, and I'm thinking about the fourth. Recently my cousin passed away and I'm still in some sort of shock. But in some way it feels like I have experienced all this somewhere else and that helped alot. Thank you Alan for this masterpiece!

Easily one of the best shows on television

I binge-watched the series in 2021, never having had a chance to see it during its first run. I have to say the writing and acting were superb, arguably the best of the 21st century. And no superlative can do justice to the pathos of the finale. What an extraordinary series. It was art for the ages.

Just finished watching it for the first time, it's probably the most beautiful and moving way to end a series I'd ever thought possible. Congrats, everyone.

I just want to say a huge thanks to the whole crew for making the series.

Absolute Masterpiece

I don't see writing like this anymore, it was beautiful from start to finish.

I loved every second of the story of these dysfunctional, self-absorbed and at the same time caring and ultimately, human, charactets. The writing is superb, even to the minute details of the characters' names and their meaning. Last year (2023) I watched the series finale ending on KZread and it made me want to watch the entire series. That's a testament to how good the ending is. The series never ever disappointed, and it made question my life and make better decisions. Thank you to the creator, writers, director, cinematographer, make-up department and the amazing, wonderful cast.

Funnily enough, American Beauty is my favourite film of all time and Six Feet Under is my favourite series of all time!

Just finished the show, and yeah. the ending had me hyperventilating. the most beautiful thing I've ever seen committed to screen.

Just authentic. I'm glad that I had delayed and didn't watch this show before. Watching six feet under during the pandemic was the perfect timing for me. I will miss all the characters :/

Perfection. There is no other way to describe it. In my opinion the best drama of all time.

Six Feet Under has had an enormous impact on me. I've watched the entire series at least 6 times and I'm completely wrapped up in all of the relationships.

I watched the whole show in lockdown ... it was amazing ... that final scene omg ... amazing ...

This show encouraged my graduate thesis in 2010. I wrote my thesis on the Funeral Industry and it's impact on Mourning and the Environment. Graduated in 2012 and now I'm a natural burial educator, celebrant and death doula. Pretty impactful tv show. I've seen it 5 times. The end makes me cry every time.

I just watched it and its indeed one of the best series ever made. The ending is perfection. I miss them already, they feel like family. Cant wait to watch it again ❤

Watching again for literally the hundredth time, just finished the episode where Nate discovered his Dad's secret room. Easily the best show ever created, a true Masterpiece. That word is thrown around too easily nowadays but SFU truly deserves it.

I watched the show when it was airing, as a teenager, and it literally helped shape my whole philosophy on life. I've seen it 7 or 8 times in the 20 years since and it will always be the most special show in the world to me. A masterpiece. So great to see these actors again. Lauren Ambrose looks stunning. I can't believe some of the cast didn't go on to successful careers because every single one is incredible.

Everyone keeps mentioning the last episode, and I loved it too, but the second to last episode... I've never cried so hard. The episode ended and I literally laid down on the floor in my living room and sobbed.

I have watched the last episodes in one go through an entire night to finish at 5 in the morning. I started crying with Ecotone when, well, you know what happens... From there, I kept crying, and crying, and crying, and ugly crying more and more. By the end of Everyone's waiting, I was drained, I was such a mess. But of course this was not over as the final 5 minutes of the show demolished me. But I could not cry anymore, I was so drained of all water so I started wailing. At 5 in the morning. I think I have scared my neighbors very much that night.

Yessss. The final is obviously great but I honestly think the 2 or 3 episodes before are even better and don't get enough love.

Six Feet Under truly is one of those pieces of (media) art that withstands time. Every now and then, not always in the same intervals, but time and time again, I will feel compelled to rewatch this show, and it will deliver me new insights because I understand and feel something new about and because of it every time I rewatch it. Everyone involved in making this show did an absolutely incredible and outstanding job. The characters, the music, the performances, the cinematography. I am forever grateful for this show's existence. Some shows have come close. But none have surpassed it.

My favorite show of all time. I can't count how many times I've watched this series from beginning to end. And every time I watch it, I cry like crazy during the last few minutes.

I just binged the entire series in under a week (I have no life) and have to say Ruth’s character is the most unexpected, eccentric, strange woman I’ve ever experienced...in this peculiar ensemble of weird characters. It's an absolutely amazing show

I first watched it during lockdown and quickly realized that it was one of the most POWERFUL and moving pieces of storytelling art I've ever experienced. So few people realize the brilliance of the writing, acting and directing, this is a very special show. This is a show that isn't afraid to explore how messy, beautiful, terrible, scary and profoundly blissful life can be. Incredibly realized characters portrayed y brilliant actors at the top of their game, I just can't get over the uniqueness of the show, I've never seen another show like this. Sopranos was close and shared a lot of the same brilliance but in the end, Sopranos came off to me as more of a story of a character, whereas I found the characters and experience of Six Feet Under were simply more relatable to my real life. Each characters arc is, at least interesting, and at best, incredibly deep and moving. I really liked how the show doesn't really have heroes or villains, just filled with real characters trying to make their way through this insane thing we all find ourselves in. And yes, the final episode is probably one of the most perfect endings I've ever seen, it's absolutely profound. If you've never watched, you need to. I salute you Mr. Ball and your cast. Well done.

I don't have the words to explain just how grateful I am to have been able to experience this show, and to even find it on my own. I was maybe 20 years old when I saw it. Nearly a decade later I have rewatched it many times. The test of a great friendship or relationship in my life is if I can share this show with that person XD The show was so informative, so therapeutic, so painful yet endearing.

this show is so profound and deep that it was relevant and is still relevant to this day in 2022... i am still deeply touched by it, as i just binge-watched it for the 12th time since it was released and i'm still crying my eyeballs out at 41years old. best.show.ever.made.

I binge watched it in 22’ , I don’t think anyone anymore can put together everything so beautiful and disturbing at the same time. I would think from start to end, it’s all about your family which I often see less and less. This entire show was actually described in one statement via Claire’s first Gallery art show (the one she had this graveyard picture and a lady relaxing and having her beer ). This might have actually impacted my thoughts of Train for a while. And thank you not for such a satisfying ending. I could have never imagine it. It’s just indescribable.

I LOVE when Rachel Griffiths says, "I died because I literally could not listen to one more second of Billy's shit." Haha!! How did she last THAT long? I was never a big Brenda fan but I have to give her major kudos for tolerating that insufferable brother for DECADES.

In the interview Alan Ball said they didn’t want any of the ending deaths to be funny, but the one with Brenda and Billy definitely was!

If you take away season 8 of Game Of Thrones, it will remain my favorite show of all time . Sopranos is third. Six Feet Under had the best finale ever. I still sob through it. 8 times now. If you count season 8 of GOT, Six Feet Under is my fav of all time. I am 65 and have been watching TV for 63 years. Too bad there will never be a reunion. RIP

I watched this show in my early to mid 20's, and now i'm 41 and re-watching, and I pick up on different things, what a great show!

Alan Ball's story of being doubted even after the success of American Beauty is inspiring. I wonder if he incorporated that experience into Claire's arc as an artist?

I feel like he was saying that the network was slightly worried about him directing the pilot because he had never directed before (he wrote the screenplay for American Beauty but Sam Mendes directed it). He didn’t say that they were doubting his ability, they were just apprehensive since it was his first time directing. I’m sure they wouldn’t have allowed it if they didn’t fully believe in his capabilities. He went on to direct 5 more episodes of SFU so he certainly proved himself! 🙂

This show changed my life. On such a deep level. Such amazing work. Definitely one of the best shows ever made. My favorites are Six Feet Under, The Wire, OZ, House, and Breaking Bad.

When brenda died I burst our laughing. It's so perfect and it reads exactly how its meant to. Billy was always going to be the way je was and brenda just couldnt help herself but to get involved in it over and over again. Such an amazing ending

Extraordinary show. The one I've liked the most. When Nate died I cried as a widow. All the characters were amazingly performed. So human, so believable... The last episode "Everyone is waiting" is for me a masterpiece. Unforgettable.

I have watched SFU about five times, and it amazes me how different the experience has been. From the first curious, really sad and exciting time 20 years ago where it blew my mind, to now laughing through most of it - it is just so quirky. But the saddest scenes still hits just as hard now. I also changed my mind completely about Lisa, from just being annoyed at her to thinking she was one of the best characters on the show :)

Right? Thank you for your comment, I am exactly in the same position. Lisa's character appears to me now as so tragic. In fact I really like what they did with her character. As you say, despite watching it multiple times and finding most of it so pleasant, there are these moments that are still terrifying for me to experience in the show. And I think the most dreadful part for me is the finale of season 4, when the truth about Lisa's disappearance is revealed. And before that, when Nate accepts the death of Lisa and her "death white screen" appears, making it the truth.

The final version made no room for a reboot. Amazing piece of art that can’t be touched

Definitely one of the very best shows ever made - and probably the most emotional. It’s a shame that in recent years SFU has become kind of overlooked, I hope it gets reappraised and rediscovered by the younger generations just like The Sopranos did in the last few years. God, Season 3 and Season 5 of SFU are just heartbreakingly good.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful shows I have ever watched.

The first time I watched this show I was about 18 years old, now I'm 35 and I still love it! always gonna be my favorite show, pure art!

One of my favorite shows of all time! Definitely the best ending to any TV show ever! Started rewatching it with a friend and it's just as good as watching it the first time! Made me get the DVD boxset, realizing just how special this show is to me!

This is my favourite show ever my family has owned a family owned funeral home since I was born to the point where I lived upstairs just like the fishers and now being 23 working there since I was 18 full time this show is the greatest ever ps my family never told me about the show I had to find out about it on my own only to discover my parents had all the seasons on DVD

This show and my experiences led me to being part of the death positive movement. I have studied to be a death doula but it all comes back to this.

A show that is completely unforgettable, it touches your heart and your life, and makes you really think about things. I left a big mark on me that’s for sure.

Like Mad Men and Freaks & Geeks... I always come back to this show every few years to watch again. I just love this show and the actors.

Brilliant ending. I found myself invested in each character and as they died, my heart broke. I teared up . As all humans, I could relate. It was like losing loved ones of mine over the years.

My daughter just turned 9 and I named her Willa after hearing the name on SFU years before I ever conceived. This show, and Willa’s name, stuck with me and when I found out I was having a girl I knew instantly that she was my Willa!

It’s no doubt the best and most favorite series I’ve watched (3 times) in my 67 years. It’s nice to hear from the cast how they thought and felt about this great series.

I just finished watching the whole show. I watched some of it when it originally aired in the UK and the first scene with Brenda and Nate at the airport left an impression that this was an edgy show. I think 5 seasons was the perfect length - long enough for the characters to have proper arcs but not dragged on too long so as to get ridiculous or boring. I really love all the Fisher characters and how over the course of the series they become so open and close and loving with each other. I also love the little edits with fantasies/hallucinations that really highlights how even in moments where people feel alone or scared or sad, they're all kind of tied together by the people who visit them in those visions. I literally finished the last episode about 20 minutes ago and am still processing what I think about it - I'll be honest, I'm a bit sceptical about shows that fast forward into the future like that for the last episode, and I think parts of that sequence were a little corny or over-the-top, but I guess the concept made sense for a show about life and death. I will say though that this video missed an opportunity to have the end credits as a white screen saying: Six Feet Under 2001 - 2005

Finished the series for the first time a few days ago. Such an amazing series. The finale will really stay with me for a while. That shot of David remembering Keith just destroyed me.

I absolutely adore Six Feet Under, up there in my top three shows of all time with Deadwood and The Wire.

Just finished the last season. Oh how much I LOVED this show. Not sure why it took 20 years to get in my radar but it is so well done and yes, the finale is THE BEST. Well done, everyone. Thank you!

Brilliant show, I was addicted almost immediately....but when you binge watch this particular show, and you suffer from depression as a result of losing quite a few loved ones.....damn, this show will drain you emotionally, so much that by the time you get to the end, you're probably gonna find yourself in a really REALLY dark place. I tried to watch it again a couple years ago because I really liked the show, but I just couldn't get very far. Its too painful.

I have never watched much TV. But this show was sooo great and meaningful, and I got hooked in. :) I have been drawn back to watching it lately. Will be interesting to see how it is, now at 55. I bet it will be even better. Watched the last scene 3 times the other eve, bawled my eyes out, again ❤

Just watched it (again) but this time with my twenty something daughter and we both loved it. I was thrilled that she loved it as much as I did… I mean who wouldn’t. Perfectly cast!

Beautiful retrospect of a wonderful show. The show made me laugh, cry and think about my life. I thank the actors and the writers for doing that. Not to say that it helped much. I’m still effed up, but it made me think about what’s happening in my life and made me more aware and more accountable plus regrettable for what I’ve done and how I live my life.

Rewatched the entire series again, finishing just yesterday. I watched it for the first time I think when it first came out on DVD (Blockbuster or the Netflix-as-DVD-mailing-service), and LOVED the show both times. I rewatched the ending scene many, many times, since everything about that ending was perfect, but the last time I watched just the ending scene, I'd forgotten a lot about what had happened in the rest of the show, so I figured it was time to rewatch it since it was on Netflix (now, a streaming service, with no red envelope in the mail).

Watched it for the first time, watched the finale yesterday. Wow. This serie ends very unraveling and confronting in a short burt. It gives the brain many things to digest

I've been looking for a show that resonated with me as much as Six Feet Under for 20 years and I don't think there ever will be. The Fishers will be with me forever.

Joanna Cassidy was a brilliant and undermentioned casting choice. Loved this whole show.

We were one of the many who rewatched the whole series .....and the last show, the ending is still the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
