**UPDATE - SUMMER 2023** - The iO3 is now available in the UK. It has a retail price of £160, but should sell on average at £80 or less. iO specific brush heads are still 2x that of a non-iO head. It's not a terrible buy, but long term ownership costs are higher that more affordable alernatives.

Important is to rinse brushhead with lukewarm water then tap and dry it with a small cloth. Doing so it will dry quickly and last a very long time. The blue part on the brush will have a longer lasting and proper function.

This is all you need tbf, the tracking app isn't necessary, neither is the screen. The only thing you really need is the pressure sensor which this has and the added bonus of a light telling you when to change the brush head. No need to pay more than this as the lowest io model has all you really need. I actually have the series 8 myself, but have realised it isn't necessary. I used the app maybe only two times because it just isn't needed in reality.

I like this tooth brush a lot, affective for the right clean and the best price. I have had issues removing plaque from my teeth in the past and when I switched to an electric toothbrush it seriously helped a lot. This product is probably a lot better though, I recommend viewers to purchase for sure.

I have this brush and have been frustrated determining which mode I’m in as well as many other people. I recently looked at listened to the brush while dry and you can see and hear the pattern change. Whitening is the most obvious as there is a “revving up and down” in both the sound and the visual movement if the brush head. Seems to be some debate as to whether the brush resets to daily clean after being powered off OR if it saves the mode you most recently brushed with. Again I just tested for this by changing the mode, turning off the brush and then back on. My experience, it saves the mode and does not reset. This is also is what the instructions which came with the brush says.

I have extremely sensitive teeth and gums possibly Trigeminal neuralgia so hate brushing the teeth as it hurts me, would the IO brush be gentle on my teeth as the micro vibrations scare me as think they will cause pain. The Gentle clean heads are they extremely soft as the normal oral b sensitive heads are still to hard for me. I’m thinking of the oral b IO 6. Can you help.

  • @ElectricTeeth

Do you use an electric toothbrush now? If so what one? If you use a manual brush, do you find this too intense/painful? I'm not personally a dentist and feel like getting personalised advice from yours might be beneficial. The gentle care brush head bristles are 'soft' and similar to the normal Oral-B Sensitive heads. For most they are fine, but the configuration of the bristles may result in a different sensation that you may or may not find comfortable.

So if Io 3 doesn’t even have a Bluetooth function, what are its benefits compared to say Oral B pro 33500? Does IO3 have a different motor or battery life compared to Pro 33500?

  • @ElectricTeeth

    @ElectricTeeth

    Жыл бұрын

Different motor. It is a magnetic motor which is quieter and slightly more gentle. Both offer an oscillating and rotating motion, but iO models offer micro-vibrations instead of pulsations of the Pro 3 3500. Note, the iO3 isn't available in the UK/Europe yet (as a general rule) where the Pro 3 3500 is normally sold.

Hi Jon and Electric Teeth, does the iO 3 (and others in the iO line, such as iO 7) remember the last brushing mode setting used? I am asking prior to purchasing because I only want to ever use the Sensitive mode, and never the Daily Clean or Whitening modes. Can I just set it to Sensitive one time, and every time after that the brush will automatically turn on with the Sensitive mode? Or do I have to cycle to the Sensitive mode every time I turn it on and use the brush?

  • @ElectricTeeth

Good question. The iO3, 4 and 5 don't remember the modes don't remember the last mode used. They default the the first mode available, daily clean. The iO6, 7,8,9 & 10 do remember the last mode used and will return to this the next time the brush is powered on.

Well the Smart 1500 would be our top pick. It has the essential features you need and the brush heads are affordable. The iO3 is the next best. It has a better pressure sensor than the Smart 1500, but brush heads are 2x the cost. So it is more expensive long term. Importantly both clean the teeth as well as each other.

The most annoying thing about the series 3 is that it could have easily indicated the selected mode without any change in design. I noticed the light ring is RGB, as indicated by it pulsing various colors in certain circumstances. Had Oral-B simply coded the firmware to have the the ring flash a specific color for each mode there wouldn't be the common criticism and customer frustration.

It's a tricky one. My pick would be the Smart 1500 because replacement brush heads are half the cost of those for the iO Series. So over the life of the brush the iO is more expensive because of these heads. The iO3 is a very nice brush with a better pressure sensor. So, if you are happy to pay a bit more for the heads, then this is a good option. I would avoid the iO4. It's only benefit is Bluetooth connectivity and the benefits of this are limited. All the brushes clean comparably.

The video link is broken. The iO3 is quieter than other non-iO models. But, granted it is louder than the likes of a sonic toothbrush from Philips Sonicare for example. Dirt & grime accumulation is common on all toothbrushes. But, Oral-B heads with holes in are prone to significantly more (we are working on a video about this). I am assuming that is what you mean, given I haven't been able to view the video. Daily rinsing of the toothbrush usually overcomes this issue.

I've used a Pro 2 for 3 years and got myself this toothbrush (iO3) I've used it for about 2 months but i've had tooth sensitivity throughout my mouth which never happend before with an electric toothbrush. I've tried brushing with sensitive mode only and with the Gentle Care toothbrush heads but the pain still didn't go away. Now i'm back to brushing with a Pro... I think it has to do with the pulsating, it's simply too fast. I really like the design, but a toothbrush really shouldn't be able to damage the enamel, just like the Pro series, which is side-by-side clearly not as potent. At the same time I also realised how much better the Sensitive Clean head is in comparison with CrossAction (these are not for iO), which only touches the gums with soft bristles and whose bristle's diameter is also narrower, which imo is more fitting as teeth surfaces aren't nearly as big as a CrossAction head.

Thank you for swift reply & your right, can’t figure out why the older model has it from 4 years ago (one I had) not even an io range, anyhow thanks, was looking forward to the feature in which shows areas brushed & missed, wonder if u have any insight into how good it is

Many older models do have Bluetooth, but they tended t be the more expensive models at the time. You don't need it to clean the teeth well, but some like it and find it motivating. They create the different models/specs to appeal to different people. You won't get any feedback on how well you have brushed/areas you have missed with this model. You would need to upgrade to the iO5, 6 7, 8 9 or 10 for this. It does work, but it definitely isn't perfect.

You have to learn the mode order or try and learn the difference in sound and brushing sensation.

The sensitive setting offers less pressure, pay attention the next time you brush and go through the 3 short options slowly. You will notice sensitive over the others.

Have you figure this out yet? Look at your brush. The whitening mode pulsates. It’ll speed then slow, speed then slow. You can see the blur slow down by looking at the brush. Daily clean-Sensitive-Whitening are the modes.

You can brush for 3 minutes if you like. Once you past the 2 minute pacer, just keep brushing. The 30 second pacer will continue to function.
