No way wow works perfect

In the black Friday sales, the genius X was £129.99 - I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get such a cool brush. I've definitely been brushing incorrectly with my previous (bog standard) oral-b brush (which I paid about £20 for at least 5 years ago, maybe even longer). One major thing I love about the genius X is the tracking. I would sometimes miss brushing my teeth at night if I was too tired before, but now I wouldn't dare breaking my streak! 😂

Hi Elinor. That was a good price that the Genius X was being sold for. As you say yourself, you didn't necessarily need the upgrade, but if it is helping you and you feel better about cleaning your teeth as a result, then this is great!

I have one of these and it's had a couple of faults I've managed to fix which I wanted to share here in case anyone else has the same problem. First, if the brush slows down and stops although the battery is charged the polyfuse has failed, you can fix this by taking the brush apart and either replacing the fuse or soldering a wire across it. Second, like many modern devices the cpu is running all the time even when the brush is off, and the software can crash. If you are unable to recover it by holding buttons down, take the brush apart and disconnect one terminal of the battery then reconnect it. Both these repairs require a soldering iron and some skill.

I want to give a shout out for Oral B’s warranty as well, After 22 months of ownership my Genius X just stopped suddenly mid brushing one day while fully charged. I did have to get authorization to ship it to a repair Center but Oral B honoured their 2 year warranty and replaced the handle with a new one.

@@ElectricTeeth So I wanted a Philips or Oral-B electric toothbrush and once looking into Oral-B, I was very interested in the app. From there it had to be the 9000 or Genius-X. Decided to go for the top of the line Genius-X because it didn't need the camera for the app. I got the Luxe for £150 and I'm extremely happy with it. I do sometimes question if it's worth it, my perception may be warped as this is my first ever electric toothbrush. But in general, electric is the way and I'm never going back! Biggest gripes with the Genius-X: - Fantastic case but really should've had a common and not proprietary port for charging like you said. - I've only used the app (one of the biggest selling points) twice in 7 days because I later realised the app NEEDS location to work for some reason. - It seems you can't change the brushing modes without the toothbrush operating, meaning you'll have to twist the handle around in your mouth so you can catch the display in the mirror to see what mode you just changed to. If your toothbrush already has toothpaste on it and you want to change modes without it being in your mouth - prepare for likely mess lol. Quite an extensive comment/ reply as I used to review products myself 😅

I'm going to buy Genius X because of the feedback that it give me about how well I cleaned my teeth and if I missed some areas. I'm sacrificing the Smartphone holder and the additional heads for only that. Do you think, I made the right decision? Your opinion matters alot to me.

Electric Teeth what design for the Oral B black genius x is a black brush heads. Since the brush matches with the handle, which makes it entirely black, while for other white and color color white would make sense. Black head and Black handle White head and White handle

Does anybody find those extra cleaning modes useful? I always use the Daily Clean mode which is best and I find the other cleaning modes annoying, when I accidentally select them when brushing. What are the benefits over the Daily Clean mode? Æ

I like normally use Pro Clean mode, since its the more powerful mode, makes my teeth appear whiter, and uses a 3 minute timer. And when brushing with an Oral B electric toothbrush a users suppose to spend a few seconds on each tooth surface. Which brushing for 30 seconds in each quadrant doesn't follow, brushing for 45 seconds in each quadrant would allow the brush to clean the users teeth more. Daily Clean mode involves a 30 seconds pacer, which means a user would need to move faster from tooth to tooth before the quad pacers buses. However, Pro Clean mode uses a 45 seconds pacer, which means a user would take their time and spend a few seconds on each tooth surface.

You are the first one to mention that the USB is not used for charging...wow...good catch. OMG I started laughing when you said you have to hold your phone to brush your teeth. You are so right!! Oral B should have addressed all of these things being they want top price. The only difference between the x and the 9600 that I can see is the black brush and the fact that you now have to hold your own phone. I don't get it. Why would it cost more? FYI you can get the lower models now with the black brush as well.

Quick question regarding the app, I just got this model and the first time worked fine. However on my second day when I brushed instead of the "map" of my teeth the app simply shows a circle with a timer (similar to a stopwatch), which in result doesn't give me a final score anymore, saying it's 0 and the coverage section remains blank. My guess is that the position sensor somehow got turned off and I have no idea how. I've tried restarting my brush / phone making, a brand new bluethoot connection , reseting my brush settings from the app but with no results. Any tips on how to get the position tracker back on?

Odd. I have not heard of this happening. In theory resetting the brush etc should resolve it. If you haven't already. Uninstall and reinstall the app and make sure all the relevant permissions are granted. At the same time reset the brush handle. If that doesn't work, probably worth contacting Oral-B.

I would go for the iO. But something to bear in mind is that the iO brush heads are currently more expensive. So if you want the best value the Genius X will work out more cost effective long term.

Great video thanks for sharing 😀. Any idea how the toothbrush handle or app knows how to log the data and brushing sessions for different users? i.e if I purchased one myself and my wife would use it

Two points.... 1) Only getting 3 - 4 days use between charges 2) the app changes from the full mouth feature to a timer clock on the second time the app is used.

Hi Stephen. How long are you brushing for each time and how many times per day? The battery life is based on 2 x 2 minute brushing sessions per day. If you are brushing for 3 minutes for example this will reduce the number of uses between charges. Assuming you brush for 2 x 2 minutes, you could try running the battery completely flat and then charging it full to see if this helps. I am afraid I am not sure why the app is changing, unless you have made a change within the settings not to show the visual of the mouth.

Thanks Patrick. In reality, the differences are quite simple, but honestly, it can get confusing because there are so many models. The Luxe variant comes with 4 brush heads in the box compared to the 1 with the standard (non luxe) Genius X 20000N. The Luxe variants travel case has a pattern/design on the case that does not come with the standard model. Simply put, for most, the standard Genius X 20000N is the better buy. The Luxe model doesn't really deliver any extra value.

I’ve got the Oral B 9000, it’s a good brush only thing I don’t like is the battery life and how long it takes to charge. Maybe the Bluetooth being on all the time affects battery.

Hi Adam. Agreed, the battery life could be better. I have not seen any data to suggest the Bluetooth really affects the battery life as the connection (as far as I am aware) is only active when the brush is turned on/handled.

It depends where you are seeing it referenced. They are basically the same thing. However, you get Genius X 20,000 normally in UK/Europe and Genius X 10,000 in USA. Box contents might differ too. Fundamentally the toothbrush is the same.

Does it spin 360 degrees?

22:44 your first 2 pence sound like you're saying pounds. Btw, got the Genius x 20400N for £115 which works out to rougly 10 pence per day over a 3 year period. Might consider looking many different places since prices vary widely, but there are some good offers out there.

I think the iO5 is a nicer brush in terms of design. It also brushes a bit softer. But, the brush heads are about twice the price, so really the Genius X is the better value model.

Hi I am obsessed with dental hygiene I have a water flosser do you think I should upgrade from a smart 6 6000 I have perfect teeth obsessed with Oral-B and technology is it the best brush for me or will they bring a better one out soon?

This is currently the best brush Oral-B offer and I would be surprised if they brought anything newer out soon as this has only just launched. I personally would not suggest it is worth the upgrade, if you have a perfectly good Smart 6 6000 already.

Currently trying to chose between this and the io6. £10 difference between the 2 models, which would you chose? I’ve heard some people saying the heads are too big on the io6 so they hurt their gums which, along with the price of replacement heads, is the only thing putting me off the io6.

For £10 difference I would pick the iO6. But, the cost of replacement brush heads are double the Genius X.

I have stained teeth for many years now due to improper cleaning as a child! Does the whitening feature work well enough to remove deep staining?

No not really. A visit to the hygienist is best for this. Whilst the cleaning action could, over time have some benefit, the tools and skill of a dental professional will deliver more significant results than this toothbrush will do. What it will do well is keep the teeth as clean as they can be an help reduce any future staining.

Can you recommend any toothpaste that are for tooth sensitivity and gum care for reversing gingivitis or preventing it? Also that it has a very low abrasive level

A toothpaste along can't & won't prevent or reverse gingivitis. Gum disease (gingivitis) is generally reversed by a regular oral care routing with includes brushing and flossing. Sensodyne is one of the more popular options for Sensitive teeth.

Yes quite possibly. If knocked hard enough connections inside can become loose or break. They will often withstand a few knocks, but imagine dropping your phone on the floor. On some occasions it will be fine on others it will break. Same with a toothbrush unfortunately.

The Genius X did fall onto the floor accidentally however everything seems to be working fine..I guess repeatedly dropping it would definitely cause some damage but a one-off occurrence should be ok. Also, yesterday while I was using the Genius X, a red light started to flash near the charge level display and the Genius X refused to turn on. The odd thing is that it was fully charged and I had only started using it. I put it back on charge and it began to work as normal once again..Do you know why this happened or what could cause it ?

Carlos the older Oral B modes are cheaper than the newer Oral B electric toothbrush. So purchase an Older Oral B electric toothbrush.

Deal on Amazon brought two for £134 and saved £340, wouldn’t of brought otherwise

Ours just came. Is there any other way to charge it if you don’t have the two pin bathroom plug? We just have the normal UK mains and can’t figure out how else to charge it

Josie. You will need to buy a 2 pin to 3 pin plug adapter. You connect the 2 pin power adapter supplied, into the plug adapter, which will then allow you to connect to 3 pin UK mains.

I haven't decided yet, but i'm going to buy an oral b toothbrush due to cleaning technology, little round head brush and the features on the apps. My choice would be between Genius x 20000 and Genius 10000. Is Genius X better and more precicious than 10100 in detecting the head brush inside the mouth or do you put them at the same level? That is, is it more realible Genius X without using front camera aid or the 10000 with front camera?

Lucia, I would suggest the Genius X is a little better than the 10000 for detecting the brush head in the mouth. I don't think either are perfect, but the convenience of the Genius X over the 10000 if you really plan to use the real-time tracking is worthwhile. Putting a smartphone in the holder and standing fairly still in front of it each time can be a bit time consuming and awkward. It works, but the X does not require this, giving you a bit more freedom when you brush. You may feel differently, as standing still might focus your attention, but I like to be able to move a bit more.

Lucia. I actually think Sonicare is better at position detection, and the app is also designed a bit better in my opinion. Truthfully there is not a great deal in it, but Sonicare wins marginally in my opinon.

Considering all the elements(cleaning technology, comfort brush for receding gums, position detection, .....), do you find as me that genius x would be a much better deal than flexcare? PS. It's just a curiosity, it won't change my decision. When you said that philips has a slightly better position detection than Genius X, did you mean just to diamond clean smart or the flexcare too?

It's not easy to choose. Assuming the purchase price of the Genius X is the same or cheaper than the iO5, its probably worth going with the Genius X because the heads are certainly cheaper. So if you have many already from your Oral-B 750 it could be worth sticking with it.

It should let you know in the app, or the light on the handle will be lit when the battery is low.

A full charge takes about 12 hours. You can put it on and take it off the charger as frequently as you like. You can't overcharge it.

Ellis. It sounds like you have something called a journey setup in the smartphone app. If you go to the app and disable the journey, it should restore the cleaning modes that have been disabled.

Have you tried a replacement brush head? Does that spin or not? If a different brush head doesn't spin, there is likely a problem with the motor and it will need to be repaired.

The Genius 9000 is a good brush, but the way the app works is a bit annoying. You need to use the front facing camera on your smartphone for real-time tracking. You don't have to do this with the Genius X or iO. At £85 that is still a reasonable deal, but just be aware, it is not quite as user friendly for the app. If it was between the iO 9 or Genius X, iO 9 for sure.

I just purchased the 6000 and from what I see it's really no different then the one that I'm watching The Genius X 20000 I think it is I think it's basically the same the only thing that is different is the Bluetooth technology that's on it mine has Bluetooth as well but it's just a little different is all

They are indeed very similar. The biggest thing is the real-time tracking, the 6000 does not offer this. Not a deal breaker for most people. The 6000 still cleans the teeth very well and that is the most important thing.

Can’t believe people are so gullible, for gods sake it’s a toothbrush. Cameras, Bluetooth why oh why do you need these, it’s over engineering of monumental proportion. I have a Braun oral b toothbrush it’s the standard model and bough new at £18 you put it in your mouth and turn it on and move it round your teeth, surely to god you can all do that. If you’re pressing on to hard your senses will tell you better than any artificial intelligence. I’ve seen these fancy toothbrushes priced at £300 and when they were first introduced they were up to £500. Gobsmacked utterly gobsmacked once more it’s a ****** toothbrush it won’t clean any better than mine.

Yes it does yours does probably around 7000/8000 RPM the more expensive ones are 10k rpm and clean ur teeth better. + With a app u know u clean ur teeth good. And they are not that expensive only the Oral B Io 7,8,9 is crazy expensive

@@djangojansen7648 it's a toothbrush Django don't get carried away. What I was alluding to was the exorbitant price, they were priced at £500. I think celebrities should have more sense in peddling these wares at outrageous prices, yes I mean Mo Farrah.

Sorry we excluded this. This video explains how Oral-B brushes (the Genius X included) compares to the likes of a Sonicare toothbrush.

I found the same one on Amazon for 160$

You do not need AI. You just need to brush in front of a mirror. First left to right outer parts of teeth (both top and botton teeth, then left to right inner parts of the teeth and then finish with biting surfaces.

The difference between these models is normally the country they were released in. The Genius X 20,000 has been released in the UK whereas the 10,000 is the USA version. Technically they are the same, but the box contents, price etc can differ.

Hey, I bought the Genius X 20000 luxe edition a week ago, but I noticed that the AI shows that i only brushed 3% of the entire mouth in 3 minutes. How can I fix that? Or can it be because of the braces??

Hi Felix. The 3% coverage, should not be as a result of your braces. Presumably you are moving the brush around the mouth, tooth by tooth etc. The accuracy does improve over the first couple of weeks. I would have expected a score higher than 3%, but see if the brush learns and improves in the next week or so. If not, you might wish to speak to Oral-B as providing you are using the correct brushing techniques (or close to) you should score higher.

Which is more powerful Sonicare or oral b?

If you looked at numbers alone, it would appear that Sonicare is more powerful. However, the way in which the brush head bristles move is different. So, comparing power is not exactly like for like. Either way both Oral-B and Sonicare are more powerful than a manual brush and provide a good clean.

This is where numbers don't tell the whole story really. Sonicare brushes offer 31,000 brush strokes which is equal to 62,000 movements. Most of the time now Sonicare quote the 62,000 movements, over the 31,000 brush strokes. Whilst power plays a part in the performance, it is not a factor I wish for people to focus on too much as there are other factors which are more important.

I'm SO CONFUSED..... Did they DOWNGRADE the APP?????? I just spent all that money for the Genius-X 10,000 and downloaded the app but nothing on the app matches what you have on your video. The app looks SO amateurishly made. The blue teeth are nothing more than a FLAT picture of a bunch of blue circles that don't even look like teeth.. Your app here actually looks 3D... What's going on???

Yes, the app has been updated. This is common with all smart products, but here the app has undergone a large update after Oral-B launched their new iO toothbrush, the model up from the Genius X. Although the graphics are different the principle is the same.

@@ElectricTeeth Doesn't seem very accurate. I was brushing on the set of teeth and after like 30 seconds, it FINALLY changed from dark blue to lighter, nearly a minute later finally changed to white. All in all, nearly 5 minutes to it to acknowledge a full brushing. I could also just brush the SIDES and it would think I fully cleaned. Not what I expected and really without the app, it's nothing more than my triumph I bought like 12 years ago .

It is far from perfect as I acknowledged in my review. Stick with it, the brush does learn and you will likely see the time needed to get a good clean come down. However, there will be some inconsistencies and I have generally found the app appears to be pushing you to brush for about 3 minutes rather than the normal 2, to achieve a full, thorough clean. The app is clever and works for some as a motivation. But yes you are right. Fundamentally your old toothbrush does the same job.

@electric teeth: why don’t you tell the truth? The AI and syncing doesn’t work well and they are not accurate. I test a few of them they were al bad. Did you even test it????!!!!!

Hi Henkie. I most certainly did test it. It worked for me, the majority of the time, but I did mention how it wasn't always perfect. Of course, I can speak only from my expereince, others have complained like yourself, which is a shame that it is not working as intended.

Electric Teeth I have the same problem. Did you test it good? Even after a while the syncing goes wrong. During syncing he sometimes forget some days. Actually you can choose 9 or 10000. It’s the same but without ai. Ai doesn’t work well and you didn’t test it like me for about a month

I was going to buy one until I watched this video. Who the F is this guy? Jesus, couldn't they find someone with pretty teeth that you don't mind looking at for a few minutes. Ugh. Sorry - lost a customer.

So your decision to buy a product is based on the look of the person reviewing a product. Wow. This was not an ad, just an honest review. And in fact, probably the most comprehensive review available on this toothbrush. However, your attention was clearly distracted by my set of perfectly healthy teeth. Apologies that they didn't fit your expectations and I wasn't as easy on the eye as you hoped for. I guess that is what the call life.
