Are you going to talk about the corporations that causes the obesity disease i.e. food corporations that have gotten us addicted to processed foods, or jobs that are so stressful that we have to depend on fast, processed foods to get through the day?

The individual who is capable of obesity experiences a rise in insulin when a high reward (high carb) food is simply observed. This promotes craving, consumption, and fat storage. So yes, if I look at an insulin triggering food, that prepares me to store fat for the purposes of reproduction and survival. By replacing the carbs in my diet and using resistance training to promote insulin sensitivity, I healed my obesity 15 years ago.

So is Oprah on one of the drugs? I am after years of dysfunction in trying to lose. I need a hip replacement and my new Ortho surgeon and primary physician decided this would be the best way to lower my BMI for surgery. I am happy that they assured me it was safe and working with me to resolve the weight. I'm grateful to my amazing doctors. And the medicine has given me a new way to think about food. I'm just not hungry and the only craving I have is veggies, and beautiful salads and fish. I'm good. I wasn't able to walk from the stiffness in my hip. I'm walking really well and I lost 21 pounds in 3 weeks. I was 319 pds when I started🙏🏾my success as I continue the journey.

Majority of Americans do not walk! Driving everywhere with your car will not burn calories! And even if you are on a 2000 calories a day diet you will still gain weight if you do not burn those 2000 calories a day! And the highly processed food and high calorie meals are not helping! Even people in Vietnam do not walk a lot and they are the least obese nation on the planet but they eat a healthier diet!

WW is the healthiest diet and because Oprah has admitted to using the shots to lose her weight, WW is taking the hit for it. Not fair! If someone wants to lose weight they need to cut their portions in half and move more and the weight will come off. People using these shots are hurting people who need them for diabetes. It's an easy way out!

I was going to comment before seeing the video and goddamn I was right. Someone commented how such a successful person does not have the will power to lose weight, like you don’t know other famous successful people who lost their weight. Yes Oprah does not have the will power to do, she said it her self “you see me diet and diet “ these journey is about consistency if you go on and off you will never lose it, yes some people lose weight easier or build muscle easier, everyone is different some will have to put extra effort. The point is don’t find excuses like these panel tried to show you and Oprah here definitely used her weight and her supposedly struggles to get views. All you have to do is stay consistent to a plan this is the most important when you understand that this is not a video game and one day you will find the final boss but it’s forever , you will get there . One of the side effects of Ozempic is CANCER!!! and other major side effects. Before you ever think about taking ANY Of these weight loss drugs Oprah is pushing look up the side effects. please for you & your famlies sake. then look up the Keto diet and carnviore diet. Endless number of people are doing these diets and are getting off of not only diabetes Rx drugs, all of their Rx drugs but, also losing massive amounts of weight and healing their body. sea y...t chan: Shawn baker md podcast (tons of testimonies of people losing 100+ pounds in 6-8 months and breaking their food addiction), Kelly hogan (she lost 100+ pounds), Carnviore dante freedom (he lost 90 pounds his transformation is amazing just like Kelly hogan's), Steak and butter gal, Dr Mindy Pelz, Dr ken Berry, Dr Boz, Dr Berg, Dr eckberg, Home stead how (he has a ton of interviews too with incredible transformations). Drugs have side effects. NEVER FORGET THAT. Eat properly and you will lose not only weight, get of Rx drugs, heal your body but, also break your addiction to sugar & carbs. Your library will have books on both the keto diet and carnivore diet. Many people go back and forth between both of these diets and including fasting (which heals the body faster see Dr Mindy pelz vids) Seriously look into these. This is better for you VS taking a drug that list CANCER as a side effects!!!

Right. It's only part of the story to call obesity a brain issue. Its much more complex than that. I am not part of the population that over eats. I'm meticulous about what I eat. I eat Whole Foods, organic veggies, some fruit, pasture raised meats, no processed carbs, no sugar. I drink wine a few glasses a week...I exercise. Weight train, interval train, etc. I am mildly medically obese. There really are people that do not over eat and are overweight. So while the brain is involved of course (it's involved in everything) there is what is happening on a cellular level that is not discussed. Ozempic unfortunately isn't the answer. It's only slowing stomach emptying...leading you to significantly under eat. I don't think that the general population will start talking about weight from a cellular viewpoint for 20 years or so. In the meantime, having people look at you and assume you are lying is just a tad frustrating.

How do you have a serious conversation about obesity in America, and the world, without ever saying the words "insulin resistance" or discussing the fact that the Dietary Guidelines were never, and still aren't, based in evidence? How do you square the very clear skyrocketing numbers of obesity in 1980 with claiming every case is a genetic issue? This did nothing to educate or reverse the situation. Continuing the horrible and debunked advice to "eat less and do more, just do it with our drugs" to be not just shameful, but a damaging disservice to everyone who struggles with weight. Not to mention the other intertwined epidemics of heart disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, mental health conditions and Alzheimer's that have been the result of telling the entire world to eat up to 80% of calories from carbohydrate. All of which very clearly started skyrocketing in 1980 after the first official Dietary Guidelines told us to turn our way of eating upside down. This was shameful, not because overweight and obese people should be shamed, but because it was completely lacking in evidence, ethics and common sense. But you sure made those smiling drug companies happy with this long form drug ad.

I like that Oprah touched on the idea of obesity sometimes being as a result of food compulsion/addiction, similar to alcoholism. I found that this was my problem in the end, but it was so severe I would binge eat sugar non-stop. My best friend would go to the WC and I'd quickly steal biscuits, he'd come back to find me with my mouth full of food. It was funny and ridiculous. In the end it got so bad I went to Overeaters Anonymous (basically AA, but for compulsive eating). I think not all people are not as far gone and so can learn to moderate with things like Weight Watchers (WW), but there's those who like me ended up having to treat it like an addiction to recover from it!

I totally agree! that oprah used/using ozempic. As far as why she won't admit to it here's my theory. She always said she want to lose weight the natural way. So if she admits to using ozempic ppl will call her out & she don't want to here from the naysayers.

Why would someone as completely clueless about weight management as Oprah be offering advice on that subject? If you did the exact opposite of what she said, presumably you would lose weight.

Personal responsiblity is important but we know that if you live in a place where there are a lot of fat people, you're more likely to be fat simply because that's what seems normal to you. We are social animals and thus are highly influenced by environment.

@@Smithpolly It's called choice period. There's social habbits and then theres obesity/unhealthy weight gain. If what your saying is that weight gain to an unhealthy standard is a social thing then you clearly missed the mark. In america being fat is normal. That doesnt mean that it's not a choice. you can easily eat less or just eat healthier substitutes but people dont and you know why? It's cause when you get fat you become lazy and most of the people that follow quick weight loss fads aren't mentaly strong enough to prepare to lose weight or even research how weight loss and weight gain works. also its a habbit or simply you can say that its an addiction to food in obcene quantity. Weight isn't an environmental thing it's purely up to the genetics and the mental fortitude of the person to stay at a healthy weight. Also that one thing that people who folllow these things have in common, it's that they make excuses for their shortcommings to make themselfs feel better about their obsessions and faults. The simple fact about weight loss is that it takes effort, consistency and hard work . Im sorry that you believe in the excuses that society makes you beloieve about yourself. Hopefully you get on a journey in finding better health or you can have a heart attcak within the next 10-20 years
