I bought the audio book. If you haven't yet, you must! Her narration of the book is the best I have ever heard. There's so much emotions and playfulness in her voice that you forgot she's reading from her book. When she bust out her school anthem in song i was literally LOL. I love her from all her movies and now I love her even more for her life story. One of the best audio book I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us and thank you Oprah for highlighting this book.

Listening to this was beautiful. It was your soul that needed this experience... I say this because what Viola shared, that at 28 she was seeing a therapist. Between 28 and 29 1/2 years we go through are 1st Saturn return. Astrologically this is huge. Funny that your putting this book out at age 58. The start of are 2nd Saturn return. Great interview Thanks Blessings to all you beautiful ladles 🙏💕🦋

Personally, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The beholder first is me. If what my presentation is, is unbecoming to me then it is unbecoming. When I can change it, then I will. For those who can't change whatever they see as unbecoming of themselves then leave it in God's hands. What can you do?

The most pivotal, profound thought shared was Viola's eight-year old self identifying the term of abuse that she was experiencing, as a dark skinned Black girl deemed "ugly" by society = the term, erasure. The gift of such recognition to identify this anomaly, at such a young age---shifted her to the powerhouse that she is! She was lead to believe that she wasn't gonna get by in life with a wink and a smile; but, that her course of action would be to become skilled, crafted, smart, and worthy. ...and boy, has she done that! Erasure. This term reflects centuries of racism piled upon her little eight-year old self. Erasure. ...and, the toxic, neglectful, abuse she's talked about. Erasure. ...and, the patriarchal misogyny she's experienced. Erasure. ...being systemically and repeatedly dismissed for a lifetime. Her words and experiences touch the issue of centuries old racism. It, also, addresses the universal sicknesses that have gone on for too long in this world. How bright her star has always shined.

I will say one thing, we should not define people by the color of their skin, we are all one. It is not a burden that people of different skin color are oppressed, no! They are just like white skinned people. They are the same people.Yes , they are... Its not like how we look and we are bulled from someone, no, we have to say how good and good looking we are, yes, we have to look ourself positive and that is what helps everybody and us too...... I work in a dental office and I have a lot of patients who are of different skin colors, I will say one thing, people who are different colors skin they are very warm.people .... I love Viola Davis and i will say that she is a like a Meryl Streep, she is beautiful , she is profesional and good actress i love her very much.

If this interview weren't done over a year ago - I would boycott Viola Davis. Nobody should be talking to Oprah now. I will boycott any actor or actress that works with or agrees to let Oprah interview them. I think it is funny that Oprah calls Viola "my friend". I don't think Oprah has a single friend in the world. Only money. I don't think she even likes Jackie King. I think Jackie King is like a security blanket or a pet. I don't think narcissists are able to have friends.

Now Viola sits with Oprah or gets an invite to sit with Oprah after all this drama with the color purple flopping. Humans are so predictable (Oprah) it appears she can't or doesn't care to get along with black women in Hollywood who stands up for themselves or against something she does. She's most likely trying to damage control in some way by having Viola on conversation. Viola has been speaking up for not getting paid as her counterparts in Hollywood. I don't even look at Oprah the same way I used to. She doesn't have to care what black people think and she shows it as long as white people support her, she's ok. That is disgusting but just my opinion.

I read ‘Finding Me’ a couple of years ago, and it profoundly impacted me with its powerful storytelling. As a dark-skinned black woman, the vivid scenes resonated deeply, bringing back many memories. One story that particularly struck me was about the caring teacher - a figure of support and inspiration. This echoes in my work; when I speak in schools, I always remember the transformative power of words. I end each talk with a mantra inspired by this book: ‘Never give up, never give up on yourself. I see you and I believe in you.’ These words are a beacon of hope, especially for those in the audience who may lack support or financial backing at home. ‘Finding Me’ reminds us all of the impact we can have, one student at a time. 🫶🏾
