[OPPO FIND N2 FLIP REVIEW]
You’ve got a lot of options if you’re in the market for a book-style foldable, with seven manufacturers offering phones that turn into tablets. But that rich tapestry diversity hasn’t trickled down to flip-type foldables. With only minor competition from the likes of the Motorola RAZR and Huawei P50 Pocket, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip family has come to dominate the clamshell flip phone category.
So when Oppo invited media to London to witness the launch of a product that stands a good chance of changing all that, well … I was on a plane faster than you can say “flip the script.” I’m Michael Fisher and I’ve spent a week with the Oppo Find N2 Flip: a vertical-folding clamshell with a nearly-invisible crease on the inside; a very visible screen on the outside … and some confusing software choices that make you wonder if its competitive price is indeed competitive enough.

[ABOUT MRMOBILE’S OPPO FIND N2 FLIP REVIEW]
MrMobile’s Oppo Find N2 Flip Review was produced following one week with an Oppo Find N2 Flip review sample provided by Oppo. Pre-production sample running pre-release software. The device received one software update during the review process, to ColorOS 13 build CPH2437_11_A.19.
Oppo provided travel, lodging and entertainment (in the form of receptions/dinners) for some media to attend the Oppo Find N2 Flip launch event in London - MrMobile included. However, MrMobile does not accept compensation from the manufacturers of the products he reviews in exchange for producing content. No payment was provided and no manufacturer or carrier was afforded a preview, editorial input or copy approval rights concerning this review. The lone sponsor of this video is Displace.

Samsung appears to be fixing the biggest issues, based on leaks, with the Flip on the upcoming Z Flip 5: the crease and the small cover display. Leaks state that Samsung will increase the cover screen size to around 3 inches and use a teardrop shape fold for the inner screen to make the crease less visible if not invisible.

What drives me nuts is, yeah it's a little undercooked ... but a lot of the things I complained about were intentional design decisions. I just don't understand why Oppo gave the user so much more display area, only to then decide to essentially duplicate Samsung's software. Annoying.

The whole point of Android is flexibility. This has been out in China for a while, and there are third-party apps that will allow the front display to be more helpful. So, do not worry about that; if you want more software, it is easy to fix. OPPO covers most of what I need, and the niche stuff will only matter to some buyers. The real question is, are flips just a fad? I tried, and after the honeymoon period, the Flip4 became a nuisance, unproductive, overpriced for what it did and an exercise of doing something just because you can.

Let's love being given a case & sceeen protector and charger ! Hinge pattern is beautiful, didn't see anything done like this on the folds. Displate is wonderful ! I was hesitating with them for a long long time, but they had a sale one day and I got two vintage ads prints from them, for TWA airlines and for Braniff International airlines, the quality is impressive ! Sharp, clear, vivid prints. And won't wrinkle obviously.

I got a Flip4 at launch and I am already trading it in for an S23+. I thought I would love the folding aspect of the phone but I actually hate it. I also hate how delicate the screen is, I have already had to send it back for repair because it had dead pixels (luckily the repair was free). I love to see the tech getting better as time goes on and who knows, I might return to a folding phone in the future.

yeah, it honestly feels like flip foldables are just gimmicky, any advantage of having a smaller footprint evaporates with the increased thickness.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 a month after it was released, and in late December, the inside screen's screen protector started to come off from the center. When I told T-mobile (my phone provider where I got the phone from) about the problem, they upgraded me to a Fold 4 for free. It sucks that folding phones still have a long way to go, but now I can't go back to a regular phone because I love having two devices in one with me all the time.

Yeah UTG is very delicate but we can't blame OEMs either on that because if the glass wouldn't be that delicate, it wouldn't fold, rather it would break. In case of Samsung, the issue is more because of that crease which leverages the chances of the screen getting damaged with regular use.

@@yo.adrian Did you have some type of insurance on it? I'm assuming if you go for a foldable you just get the insurance whereas it's a little more questionable with regular phones?

A floppy hinge is a good thing for durability. most people will shove their nail in and then flick it up but if the screen is less stiff the nail pushes less and that helps with durability.

I always love your honest opinions about all the devices you tested. This is no exemption, but out of all these Chinese made phones, I really like OPPO phones since I had one many years ago. But their new foldable devices are definitely going to be the up and coming that can really challenge the Samsung dominant in foldable market in my opinion. I wonder if Apple will ever jump into the bandwagon of this foldable game.
