fans normaly argue witch song is the best, opeth fans argue witch part of black rose is the best one.
God 2022, what a year! Porcupine Tree back together and playing Anesthetize, and now Opeth finally playing Black Rose Immortal live after 26 years of us asking! Absolutely brilliant!
27 years later Mikael Åkerfeldt Realise this is actually fun song to play.

@@emreertem8345 Yes, but imagine if he played it live in the 90s when he could still hit the high pitched harsh screams, damn that would be so epic, like you have the mid 90s versions of ''In the Mist She Was Standing'' with those kind of vocals? Wow, that'd be so epic.
Their main roadie just after the 12 minute mark, with his coffee and smile ear to ear watching the crowd enjoy this passage just as much as he clearly does. You can tell their road guy misses Pre-Heritage Opeth just like so many of us. He has that nostalgia ridden smile written all over his face :D

@@ColoriDiTeI'm a bass player, and I love both Martin and Johan, yet each one of them has a specific tone, I think that Johan's EQ and bass playing is bolder Than Martin's, especially that he used a lot of time the fretless. Nevertheless, Martin is the best ❤
Mikaels growls are so much more polished now. His dynamic voice is back in shape it appears. Must be from having relearn all these songs again. He sounds so evil and deep now. Love it.

It's always nice that Martin's bass shines through, I find that's usually the case though. The bass in Opeth is integral to each song, nothing is just slapped together.
This song is the best Opeth song for me. I hope that I'll have a chance to see Opeth in Czech republic again also include this masterpiece. What's about the Brutal assault festival next year?
I love this entire song but something about 12:00-14:22 is magical. It defines what in my opinion is so unique about Opeth. How they can go from absolute beautiful harmonies to death metal are both are separate but together and absolutely magnificent. I’ve seen Opeth once im only 30 so I guess you can say a young Opeth fan. No other band will ever top Opeth for me.
So humble, but it's a masterpiece for sure :) All of 'Morningrise' is. It makes me so happy to see them play this song live.
11:59 onwards is my favourite part about Black Rose.
oh damn, I saw Opeth twice, once in 2014 and then September 2022, I always wanted them to play Black Rose Immortal, but I hope on the next tour they will come near my place, and will play this song! This is my favorite Opeth song! I never thought they'd play it live, but here it is! Awesome. Instrumentally it's perfect, the Mikael cannot do the high pitched screams like in the 90s, but it's great, it's still so good to see them play this whole song live.
I don't know more a beautiful and romantic song. No way to know. Sadly my words cannot fully express my emotion...... Thank you very much...... and Opeth. I Love it forever.

@@ajshiv50 I think they mixed the album like it was black metal. Including the typical "all treble, no mids, little bass" sound in the guitars. And they had traces of black metal in their sound but not to the point of sounding like it is all BM. Just how the bass didn't get completely buried in the mix is a miracle. And you know a band is special when a song is better enjoyed live than in the album.

30 years can do a lot to a man's voice, specially when he stopped doing them 15 years ago (damn, I feel old). And his growls and screams seem to have recovered some strength, because I remember back in 2015 or 16 when they performed in Wacken, his growls were the weakest they had ever been. At some points in this performance, it did sound like he was still in 1996.

His growls got a lot better recently. Maybe he has been using a “healthier” technique and now got used to it. His growls in the early days, however, was just too unique. For me Opeth lost their charm when Mikael lost it. His clean got much better though. I kinda wish they would play To Bid You Farewell instead of this. Just imagine how great it will sound. Still, Mikael is a remarkable vocalist. I doubt anyone in the metal scene could sing both growls and cleans as well as he did.
