Operation Ore documentary Part 1

**Update** - 09-06-2015
Simon Bunce was arrested under Operation Ore. In order to try to clear his name, he applied to the US authorities for the credit card data they passed to UK authorities, which had led to his arrest. The data showed that his credit card was used to access a child pornography site. The data also showed that his credit card was used in a foreign country at a time when he could prove he was in the UK. Eventually charges were dropped. More interesting, is that he alleges that the names of some VIPs were included in the data he was sent from the US. He claims that he passed this information to the police a year ago. (They would already of had the information, as it is the same data set that they used to arrest Mr Bunce in the first place.) He is quite annoyed that the police do not seem to have acted on the information he has supplied them with and he has now posted the names of three of the people, online. One is a Lord, one is a sitting Tory MP and the other is a former pop star that is currently serving a 17 year sentence for crimes against children.

Because you weren't dave Lee Travis, he gave an interview after the police came to visit him and stated. Contrary to what the media said, this wasn't a Dawn raid and they didn't kick the door in. They came around for a chat and a cup of Tea. He was subsequently charged with sex offences against adults and placed on the sex offenders register. Not everyone gets their doors booted in unless they consider it an immediately risk to life, or there is strong possibility they aren't answering and are attempting to destroy evidence. Cliff Richard had a dawn raid whilst he wasn't at that particular address and was on bail for a year before being cleared

Someone writes below that this programme makes him respect the British Police. I would totally disagree. The documentary shows how there is one law in England for the elite and another for the average Joe. Just because Pete T is rich and famous I fail to see why his door cannot be busted in by a mad rush of heavily armed coppers, as we see with others in this programme. I can understand him surfing the dark web of KP if researching his book, but the guy actually joined this awful U.S. based website and paid his whack. In my book he is no better than the other guys in this case !

If his intentions were honest, could he not have popped down to his local cop-shop and arranged a legal viewing of such horrific imagery? I'm sure, being who he is - and with his 'project' in mind, this would have been looked upon as somewhat noble and decent? I'm left thinking Townsend was left with a gaping hole in his statement and reasons for signing up to such a site. He must have known what he was doing? Sorry Pete, I don't quite buy it.

I cannot believe the lightness of the sentences they get, many of these childrens lives will be ruined for life and they may even not make it due to severe mental health or drug abuse problems, those sentences do not reflect in any way the horror of these crimes..very upsetting. Watching this made me realise that this sort of documentary doesn't seem to get made any more. There were several made around the turn of the century and in the succeeding years, but nothing since then that I can remember. I wonder why. Perhaps the subject matter is old news these days, whereas 10+ years ago it was still relatively new. I certainly couldn't imagine a documentary made today featuring any form of the actual images or text, however heavily blurred/redacted, and I don't think they would show film of the actual suspects being arrested/charged/talking to camera. Could be wrong of course, but these elements of this documentary leapt out at me as something which wouldn't be shown today.

Such an emotive subject. I have read through the comments, and who can blame anyone for their strong opinions on child abuse, or what they consider a fitting punishment for the abusers. In my opinion, it's becoming more obvious that peadophiles will never stop abusing children. We don't have capital punishment in Britain, they won't be castrated or tortured, no one will get a bullet in the genitals and their unlikely to die a slow and painful death. In my opinion these people have to be removed from society without hesitation and segregated long term, or given whole life sentences. Peadophiles have no fundimental human decency. The sentences are totally inadequate and an insult to civilized human beings.

Agreed. The sentences in the UK and Europe are depressingly light even murder. There criminals who can never be rehabilitated, therefore should never be let back on the streets. I can't get my mind around how the monsters are let back into society. It makes me wonder how the elite well connected pedo is treated. The low to middle class pedos get 6yrs, but what happens to the wealthiest? Are let go? Are they even pursued like their pedo counterparts? Here in the states the justice system is grossly imbalanced. A Du Pont heir raped his 6 mos old daughter, he got a slap on the wrist why? Because the bitch judge said his wealth made unfair for him to do time imagine that? Another case where a poor black guy raped a 2 year old cousin. Gave th child HIV, herpes and chlamydia will do time. I hope gets killed in prison. You see the difference in treatment I'm illustrating though. Both should have lenghty sentences. Both should be castrated.

@@TheArsenalgooner LOL in THAT book he writes "getting caught was an Act of God." He also mentions that because he got caught doing something that was "incredibly stupid and arrogant" (Pete's words) that he had ceased the production of that book on child molestation and all associated research, because, again, his words "I realized that I was being an idiot, doing work that was already being done much better by others, so I stopped." There will be NO BOOK about child molestation by Pete Townshend. Ever. *Pete's legacy is that lie "I was only doing research."* We're stuck with too many pedophiles out there using it as an excuse. Thanks, Pete-Oh.

Thanks for posting this. I watch some of these documentaries or vids, some going back to the 1970's. I was born in the 60's and was a victim also. I remember some of these when they came out. There is a very clear pattern. There is usually a large public outcry, occasionally even demonstrations. The criminal cases are dragged out, some swept under the rug. A scapegoat, or fall guy, is offered up & the majority of the criminals aren't even charged. Perhaps someone is sentenced to a few years. I think I hold out hope that an offender will get "smashed" with a 100 year + sentence, or gets murdered by the victim or their family. It never seems to happen though, sadly. Just look at what has happened with the Epstein case in the US. Not a single 'john" has been charged, he was suicided, & giselle is next. She deserves to get whacked, but not to protect the other perps. Hopefully, one day the people will say enough & handle things themselves, instead of leaving it to other convicts with life sentences. The most disgraceful thing is that every internet search engine I use, to research these criminals, buries them soooo deep I can barely find them. Google, You Tube, all of them. There was an Amsterdam child trafficking ring fronted by Bovver Boots Talent Agency. Try finding them, or information on anyone involved in that or other rings. Disgraceful. But when Bill Gates is flying down to Epstein's island on the Lolita Express, repeatedy, what can you expect.

"When you deal with them, deal with them with respect...". !? "Respect" is not applicable, disciplined restraint would be the appropriate stance. Although the house entry at 16:10 is a fairly succinct demonstration of what must be an emotional release of the pent up rage felt by the Police who deal with these people.

They don't want anything to mess up their case like an assault allegation. They're also trying to insure that suspects don't do anything like commit suicide to escape justice. They're also aware that IF the suspect is found not guilty their life is still ruined and they're making sure they do nothing that can leave them open to counter-prosecution down the line. Cops have to work under very strict parameters for many reasons. It's a really thankless task.

Justice for all ! ( And I'm a fan of the who but..) Most of these people lost their jobs, where charged and some went to prison. Townsend , apart from the embarrassment of being on here and some initial issues with negative PR, appears to have come out of this relatively unscathed. In fact it appears to have been largely forgotten. Certainly forgiven by his fans. His actions seemingly explained and excused out of the context of sexual debasement.. He says it was research. He also says it was 'therapy' working things out regarding his own abuse in childhood. He also says it was out of curiosity. He's changed his reasons a number of times.Whatever his motivation, the principle, the reasoning behind tough sentencing for receiving images is that it provides a market, perpetuating and facilitating the abuse of these children to meet the demand. By accessing these images ( and he PAID for them) and downloading them he fits this criteria. Therefore whether he is In fact a pedophile or not becomes academic. So why did he get off so lightly and why are people so forgiving? Maybe they just would rather not accept someone who created that great music that they grew up with could possibly be anything but an artist. Anything he does must have an artistic bent behind it? Somehow romantising anything the 'artist' does? I find it difficult to accept that he maybe someone who has this debasement in his character. Seeing him here was saddening and hearing his voice in this context was somehow worse. It would be easier to ignore it and just continue to listen to the music convincing myself that the two things aren't linked and therefore 'what relevance does it have'. but unfortunately I can't do that. For me the man is intrinsically linked to the music and my mind can't escape the fact that , whatever his motivations ( he's never really accepted responsibility as he's never really admitted he did anything wrong, merely was 'ignorant' in his 'research') he was arrested and had he been 'joe Bloggs' and a teacher, no expensive lawyers or influence, he would undoubtedly have lost his job and be facing a very different future. Labelled a sex offender and branded with that label for life. It's all so sad when the illusion is broken - but, for me, he broke that magic and I resent him for that. There are others in the band ( the wonderful Moon 'the loon') and I resent him ruining their legacy for me. Fuck Pete Townsend and his excuses. He pressed the buttons. He put his credit card details into the site. That's not something done 'on the spur' or by accident. It's contrived...And it's all very sad!

I can no longer listen to "A Quick One". Whilst I was never a huge Who fan I respected their contribution to the musical world. It's a sad indictment on society as to how quickly this was forgotten and forgiven. And to be honest "research" is possible excuse he could use in his defence

In one way, I applaud the cops for making this story public, and showing his interview, but what a horrible crime not to charge these people, regardless of who they are, with REAL time,. Just awful how little kids were valued in the UK, especially back then. Finally, pedos are getting major time in prison, in the US at least, sometimes life sentences, which it should be. This man only got 8 months in jail And it turns out it was his second offense in 2 years. My mate thought he was going to jobcentre once a week and turns out it was probation appointments . She had her niece visiting every week and sleeping in bed with her and her pedo partner yet probation never visited our community or her in all that time .looking back there were several red flags but because he was ex army i stupidly thought that army wouldnt take people like that 😂 feel very foolish now

I am, but it's very slow-going because of the stigma associated with it: it's rare to find a perp willing to go on record to discuss their methods and motivations, but when they do, it's of supreme value for uncovering the roots of the issue. Whether they're 'sickos' or not, they have internal motivations for their impulses, and reducing it to "they're just born sick" or "they're simply sadists who enjoy hurting" prevents people from being able to ask or answer those difficult questions. They may cross the realm into becoming beasts, but they start out as just 'people', and then things happen to bring them to this point. But admitting that is WILDLY unpopular :P
