    Fantastic video. We just got a 1992 van same layout. My wife has painted with Frenchie furniture paint. I backed all the under neat of the van where they miss when it was wax oiled. You could eat your dinner off the cab floor, as I backed all if it and any steel parts. The two side windows are painted yellow as their is small bit of yellow going along the body of the van. I also blacked the engine bay, exhaust and at the bottom of the two cab doors. I removed all the old stickers on the windows, body and windshield and replaced all the main ones like Gas ! Wash all the beding, curtains, and new covers for all the seats and bed. Around the body of the van I replaced all the old reflectors and even painted the old mud flaps and put new red reflectors on them also. Last was to backing the steel wheels and add new caps to them. Your video is going to be a great help to so many, thank you so much. Eamon and Nicola in Ireland. ☘️👍❤️☘️👍

    Hello again mate, gonna be rebuilding my toilet/shower soon. Looking into various shower options, did consider a flush ceiling version but maybe over the top lol. Also considered your one which could also double as a toilet flush (if it reaches) as mines manual flush, and may need a boost flush once in a while! Are you happy you made the choice you did (water usage ok?) or have you thought maybe another option would have been better?! havnt got to the sink yet! but i guess i would need taps and can just use the shower head? also does the shower head stay on or you have to continuously press the button?

  • @ttxela

    Yes, we're still pretty pleased with the shower. It's quite economical on water use because you do have to hold the button in to keep the water on which might not suit everyone.

    My 1989 Autoquest 270 has the leisure battery under the wardrobe at the rear of the van. However I do have a different zig unit to you as well. Also seem to have more switches on the fuse board. Hello..wonderful video..I have a 1990 Talbot express. Just bought it. For the toilet flush, does the water come from the main water tank? Does it require electric?

  • @ttxela

    @ttxela

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Michael, it really depends what coachbuilder did the conversion and their model. However many vans of that period will have a Thetford cassette toilet like ours. Flush water comes from a separate tank filled from a swing out header tank inside the cassette access hatch. It's entirely manual and requires no electricity. I think electric flushes were coming out around that time so it's entirely possible. There are also vans which take the flush water from the main tank. However if yours looks the same as ours it likely works the same 👍

    hi again mate, hope all well! thought id share this drama with you as a precaution! my carver 2 exploded today adter 1 hour of heating (emersion heating not gas as id run out - its a dual mode model) it had stripped the thread on the bar holding the jacket on. Apparently a lot of pressure on that bar that fatigues the thread over time (and perhaps ice expansion also weakened it in the past) So question is why no pressure release valve kicking in?? or thermal cuttoff? or both!? Anyway apparently this is a fairly common issue to my supprise!! and also made me think of the 'torque value on that bolt' as it did you- - i also was concerend about that and i may have overtitghend it as there was a little movement in the jacket, but it think thats normal tbh. Anyways maybe replace the bar just in case as its a distrubing thing when it goes off! i was sanding the roof at the time to add to the saga!!! a new rod is about 40 quid on ebay. Also id change the hot/cold plastic pipe conectors as well to be safe. Always some sht going on...
